Gold standard? I doubt many jazz pianists will ever be able to play on his level; that will take years before it happens, given that Fortner has been spending years honing his unique skills. Is there any other jazz pianist who can play like him? He might be the Dizzy Gillespie of the piano-someone who will never be imitated by others playing his instrument because it is so difficult.
