I prefer the older more slimline case. I have an Explorer and I love the elegance of the case. I fancy a sub in the future but would go for a non date pre 2010 version I think.
I own the older version, exactly like yours and agree with everything you have said about both watches. Hard to decide as they are both beautiful time pieces. The new version has all the DNA from the previous generation, but with new improvements and and some enhancements including I might add, an improved clasp and more robust bracelet. And since I have not tried on the new version, can't tell how comfortable it is on the wrist compared to the older version but I'm sure it is just as good. So, it all comes down to personal preference. And also, availability.
As for comfort of wearing, I like the new version better. The glidelock clasp is amazing. You can adjust within 5 seconds and it always fits perfectly.

no, those cases are all the same as far as i know. until last month when they came out with the new model

The Maxi case is ugly and looks unrefined. I think Rolex took a step backward with this heavy piece of metal.
I disagree, the Super Case looks great and , not sure if it has been noticed, it looks VERY similar to IWC's Genta Ingenieurs
