This is SO helpful thank you so much for taking the time to make a video. I was having a hard time finding one that removed Olivetti platens and was stuck.
@@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 You mentioned needing a #6 wrench. I was wondering if you had a good recommendation for wrenches that work for typewriter repair?
@@jenniferhowell8122 Typewriters are rarely fitted with wrench-turned nuts. But occasionally you'll run against them. In that event, these: ( www.amazon.ca/Grip-Super-Thin-Wrench-Set/dp/B001HZQW0Y ) are pretty good.
Awesome video!👍! That's the one thing that stump's most of us!!! Thank you! I'm getting an olervetti lettera 35 planning on recovering the platen with heat shrink tubing. Like I've done with my other typewriters. But wanted to be sure it applies to the lettera 35 as well.
You wouldn't happen to have a video or resources on how to get an paper guide plate out of an Olivetti Lettera 32? It's so different from this one in your video here.
I can easily unscrew the knob with the ratchet gear from the return mechanism, but the one from the right is extremely hard and I hurt my palms trying to get it out. Can I spray WD-40 on it? I have aettera 25 and I'm not entirely sure if this even applies to it
I have an Olivetti Letterra 32 and when I unpacked it, I noticed a piece of thin plastic wire (like fishing wire) was poking out from one side of the carriage. The carriage does not move along when the keys are struck so Im guessing this should be attached to something at the other end? Any ideas? Thanks
Yes that would be your drawband that has either become detached or broken. It's not too complicated to repair this issue although definitely not ergonomically considerate.
Can the carriage release mechanism be accessed by removing the platen? I need to repair it on my Lettera 32. I found this video very informative. Thank you for putting it together. Steve

No problem! I'm glad you managed!

I currently do not have any Olivettis to my disposal, but once I do...remind me. :)
@@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 will do, thank you!
Does this platen removal apply to the letters 35?

Great. Is the same for Studio 46?
Roughly, yes.
On the Studio 46, you need to remove two small screws on the right knob.@@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121
Very nicely explained! (:
Thank you!
es underwood Olivetti USA?
The love of the wheel was cut off in the Olivetti machine and I don't know how to install it to get it back to normal and I have the letters stuck
As much as I try to romanticize my understanding for typewriters, I'm afraid "The Love of the Wheel" are not in the vocabulary of my love language.
Thanks. Makes me further regret my L22 and reinforces my no Olivetti policy.

Yes, you should be able to access it that way. The carriage release rail is fairly easy to access on these machines.
