Honestly, I think Casio should rebrand their higher echelon of watches to be Oceanus and avoid the Casio brand outright. Too much of a stigma around Casio being cheap digital watches. This should include the Edifice line as well. These kind of watches are phenomenal and should stand on their own outright...
Stephen Tomko I don’t think Casio is as looked down upon in Japan as it may be in the U.S. I bought a Japanese market Oceanus Manta back in 2007. Casio appeared on the dial as this watch in the video. When the Manta was later released in the U.S., the Casio label had been removed.
Stephen Tomko i completely dnt agree on the point tgat edifices r cheap watches. They have some of the most gorgeous and elegant watches at an affordable prices .its a matter of ones view.. also its better to wear a lesser premium brand than to wear a fake or replica.
Mohit Choprraa thanks for replying. Though what you're implying is the exact opposite of what I'm stating. The oceanus and edifice are fantastic line of watches. My concern is that the Casio brand has a stigma of cheap digital watches. And I feel that brings down the perceived quality of their top end watches
Finally you review a watch that I have! Good review. Two points. I had a waveceptor a long while back that mentioned in the manual that the band was part of the antenna for receiving the time signal, so that may be going on with this watch. Second the method of pulling out the crown and turning it to change time zones is the greatest thing ever. It really makes this the ideal watch for traveling. Keep up the great work
This is an amazing watch. Perpetual Calendar, date function, world time, multi band radio controlled, solar power, titanium, clean simple dial......this is a watch collection KILLER. I have one of these, and if I wore it I wouldn't need my other watches.
Rumor has it that this watch is manufactured in the same place as Grand Seiko. It also has Zaratsu polishing which creates the beautiful shiny finishes. It is a top-notch watch and is on my radar as probably the next watch I buy. Just got a Steinhart Ocean One Ceramic this week, so I have to wait a little while.
I absolutely love mine this is coming from a guy that owns Rolex and Omega watches. It's everything you love about a G-Shock put inside a luxury watch! Be careful sizing that watch though it is pin and collar system!!!
When I have to set my rolexs, grand sekio this is the watch I turn to. Perfect time... perfect time.. it's a hard watch to have in a collection, it's so easy to wear.. it takes a little time to adjust to the blue..but then you don't see it.. it fits better then grand seiko. It's so light and takes sometime to adjust..
I'm not big on quartz watches but I really appreciate the simplicity and beauty of this watch. I've got a couple of watches that don't see wrist time and am looking at selling and trying this bad boy out. I have a smaller wrist to and this watch looks super comfy
The blue AR coating is really well executed, I love the double domed I have on my SKX from Crystaltimes with blue AR coating, but sometimes it can almost be a bit too blue.
I just ordered this watch and its enroute as I type. My son found that there is a rubber band that works even though its a tite fit. Its a Casio Black Rubber Watch Band Strap made for the Edifice model. I am going to order one of those once I have the watch in hand.
Good review. I've owned mine for a year and still love it and use it mainly as a dress watch. For EDC check out the Casio Waveceptor which has all the features this has and is solar and also has a timer, stopwatch and countdown timer and costs less than $100.
Thanks Bob. Great video. I just ordered one. Have a renewed appreciation for quartz/sun-powered watches lately. Missed the grab-and-go of a good quartz. This watch seems to have it all, great looks and function.
I am LUSTING after this one BIG time :D Thank you for a very nice review. Pleasant voice, pertinent information, clear presentation, great video quality and angles. I am still undecided as far as seller but leaning towards Seiya. I wish you all the best with your channel
I love this watch. Other than maybe my G-Shock as a beater, I can't honestly justify owning any other watches for any practical reason. (I have lots of non-practical reasons, of course...) The radio signal in Denver must be super strong because mine receives an update every single day without fail, even if it's locked away in a Pelican case. Pretty amazing. Also -- I heard a rumor that these watches are actually cased in the Grand Seiko factory...no idea how to verify if that's true or not, but it would be pretty cool if true.
Dear Rob, please advise if this watch could be used in Egypt, without this radio adjusting. Also, is there another version with day date facility. Many Thanks again for the outstanding review.
Seeing the Oceanus next to the Alpinist just goes to show the high level finish of the former. It just puts the Seiko to shame. It's good that you put those to side by side, in terms of price they are mostly the same so that makes sense. I know the Alpinist is mechanical therefore more intricate to manufacture...but the Oceanus looks that much better.
Perfect size, i hope Casio Oceanus will improve to 200 m Water Resistant. Thanks for your review, Rob. Seiko SSE169J1 & Citizen CC 3060 are interesting as well (GPS Time Keeping + 200 m Water Resistant).. Still can't find any review about these magnificent watches 😔
Up until I saw the part about the lug setup I was about to buy, but damn, I've dealt with that same issue before and don't want that 'feature'. Too bad Casio.
Thank you for this video, Rob! I wondered if you could make a comparison video and share your thoughts on a few such watches. They all have in common hardened titanium, AR sapphire, solar, and radio synchronization. Seiko, Casio and of course Citizen are the ones I know about. I actually share this "set it and forget it philosophy" offered with this kind of MODERN wristwatches.
Setting you time zone for "Atomic" time setting is a piece of cake. The perputual calendar is not, otehrwsie set. Given the time zoen, it doe sit all automatically, including DST.
MAterials Soience: "Tough" means does not break. "Hard" means resists scratches/abrasion. Ti is tough. (and does not conduct heat well). Certain Ti carbides are hard.
Based on experience, Titanium is very light and strong but unfortunately gets scratched very easily, within one year, hope that Casio considers Stainless Steel model. Many Thanks for the review.
@6:54 Beautiful shimmery shot of the dial as you move it around. I like it but wish they went completely titanium gray w/ a matte bezel. Not a fan of the shiny parts
Zaratsu polishing, so difficult and painstaking it can't be replicated by a machine, only a master of the ancient art of sword polishing can perform it, try getting that for under $5000 let alone a $500 watch.
This is the watch that got me into watches but I still haven't been able to buy it! Do you think the blue is a bit much or it's a nice discreet detail?
This is a great watch, and I found that you can get around the Wave Receptor by downloading an app for IOS or Android. The APP is called Clock Wave on iTunes store - itunes.apple.com/us/app/clock-wave/id1073576068?mt=8
Your average grade of titanium (6AL4V) is definitely softer than steel, and less scratch resistant as a result. It is considerably lighter, though, and doesn't sacrifice tensile strength or toughness VS most grades of steel.
@@RandomRobReviews you didnt catch the irony in my comment and now you throw another ''pearl'' TI is HARDER but scratches easier. go check what a scratch really is. or put a scratch under the microscope and see what happened when it scratched. if scratches it IS NOT TITANIUM. that should not need any demostration, but for some they should check their basic logic capabilities titanium should be harder than stainless steel, and that band is clearly the opposite i have a sapphire dial. and doesnt scratch ... John McGovern excellent insight John, thanks for the education. I didn't know that.

Stephen Tomko my bad
I dont need it... I dont need it.... I NEEEED IT
Did you ever get it? 🤣
Yes you do !! Come on, one more watch is not going to brake the bank !!!😊
I had no idea that Casio had watches with this level of finish. Thank you for another great video Rob :)
Jeffrey Wood yeah jeff!!! its like luxury!!
Jeffrey Wood I guess they only sell in Japan now, a shame
Check out their mr-g range. They cost thousands...ua-cam.com/video/yK9W-DYgfHM/v-deo.html
That's why it's a god tier😊
One of the first watches I bought when I started collecting and still one of my favorites. Its been very reliable.
Me too! Good choice fellow collector!
Probably the coolest watch I ever bought!
Finally you review a watch that I have! Good review. Two points. Nice daily wear. A modern quartz watch done right.
It looks bigger in the video, but still beautiful
I absolutely love mine this is coming from a guy that owns Rolex and Omega watches. It's everything you love about a G-Shock put inside a luxury watch! Be careful sizing that watch though it is pin and collar system!!!
that blue shimmering on the hour markers mesmerizes me. that's unique to this watch.
Excellent review. Thank you for the actual dimensions and the visual comparison to the SARB, which is my current daily wearer.
I have this watch. It is an amazing time piece.
that's a beautiful watch and it's also been on my "want" list for a while. I love the blue hues in natural light...so sick.
When I have to set my rolexs, grand sekio this is the watch I turn to. Because I think this is more exciting. :)
The blue AR coating is really well executed, I love the double domed I have on my SKX from Crystaltimes with blue AR coating, but sometimes it can almost be a bit too blue.
Second hand is aligned to the marks really good? Jesus, Why cant Swiss watches do that?

Beast of a watch.

Love the close up images of this watch the black with that blue loom is so beautiful beautiful watch💓⌚🏴🇯🇵🤶🎅
Just a great watch for a smart gentleman, who is an anti-snob!
BEAUTIFUL WATCH.

absolutely. and if you want radio syncronization, you can download the WWVB emulator.
Yes. You need Clock Wave app (not free) to generate your personal atomic syncing radio. There are UA-cam video guides on how to do this.
Thank you for great video, I bought this watch at 450USD.
best watch in the world

Currently those alternatives will be bigger when you add in GPS functionality. The Citizen is H51 x W44 x T15mm.
Still the same 100m water resistance after 6 years, even with the S7000 regular and anniversary models, which are supposed to be yacht watches. >_
Up until I saw the part about the lug setup I was about to buy, but damn, I've dealt with that same issue before and don't want that 'feature'. Too bad Casio.
What a beautiful timepiece - thank you.
Nice looking watch, makes you think maybe Rolex be ripping people off
Just bought this watch without telling my wife.
The Titaniu, looks so good on this watch. Some other watches with Titanium looks dull somehow.
Not sure what version titanium they used, it’s not grade one for sure, plus the finish work they do on Oceanus is Grand Seiko level
Thank you for this video, Rob!

Select the correct time zone city (i.e NYC for US Eastern Time), and the calendar and DFT are set automatically. Could hardly be simpler.
Setting you time zone for "Atomic" time setting is a piece of cake. The perputual calendar is not, otehrwsie set. Given the time zoen, it doe sit all automatically, including DST.

It's got a hardened coating on it

“I’m not gonna say your name again Sanji” - immediately says name again. Haha
woocoheed shaboz lol
Drilled lugs is an aesthetic for me more than function.
ooo I've been eyeing the oceanus too! good video! might just pull the trigger now
I think I read that only the watch had the special titanium carbide material but not the bracelet.
Beautiful watch ,For me if it was a few mil bigger it would be perfect,
Rambling Rob. Haha. Just busting your chops. Enjoyed it. Keep the good stuff coming.
it's a wonderful watch
That is a really nice Casio! I want one!!!
Excellent review as always! The Doxa is gone? Say it isn't so!
It’s gone to a better home. It will get worn way more now I am sure. Watches come and go around here. Spring cleaning will happen very soon.
awesome watch... thanks
really very gorgeous, the blue-ascent indices, the bracket ...
but it’s a quartz and more importantly out of my budget :D
Great review for a great watch.
beauty watch
Yeah I tried not to but I bought it last night.
Zaratsu polishing, so difficult and painstaking it can't be replicated by a machine, only a master of the ancient art of sword polishing can perform it, try getting that for under $5000 let alone a $500 watch.
love that watch!!
Such a sexy watch!
This is the watch that got me into watches but I still haven't been able to buy it! Do you think the blue is a bit much or it's a nice discreet detail?
Its all good and subtle
This is the brand I want to know more about? They have several that I really want and think would be a perfect watch.
Which is a better brand ..not a showoff wisr but vfm wise? Seiko or Casio??
That could change model to model. The finishing on this titanium is slightly better then the finish from Seiko shogun from what I remember.
Random Rob thank u so much.fr ur feedback
Casio is the best value brand out hands down
How to measure one's wrist?
Pete :")
is the AR on the inside only or both inside and outside?
how is it holding up to scratches?
Something’s missing on your desk!!😃
Indeed, dropped it off at Post this morning. You should have in couple days. Already miss the Doxa more then the seamaster and the black bay for sure.
Random Rob , I will always be grateful that you sold it to me. Thanks again!!
Random Rob - Pls, FFS, clip your nails when handling xxx things like that watch. Or don't, I care not. ;)
Hmmmm why are Japanese market only watch’s in English?
beautiful!!
100m water resistant.
It should be called Pool eanus with that.
200m then I am okay with Oceanus.
100m is deeper than you're legally allowed to dive with regular scubagear. So... *shrug*
@Tom Smith you dont know what 100m means..
@Tom Smith like I already said you dont know what that means.. You cant go scuba diving with a 100m watch its only for snorkling not for scuba diving.
@Tom Smith no, but I scuba dive and I know something about watches, you dont.
@Tom Smith where did I said that? Please be quiet if you dont know anything..
Wow thats cool
Does it have stopwatch function?
I’m guna have to wait for the dollar to go up. eBay Australia $700 yikks
Hey Rob,
How much you get this? It's on my spot but only wave creptor is my only concern coz I'm not in coverage area.
Prices range 400-500 used to new for this model. This was lent in for review it’s not my watch.

People pay a fortune for Ti bracelets. This comes with one.
"TOUGH" = RESISTANT TO BREAKING. "HARD" = RESISTANT TO SCRATCHING AND ABRASION.
Man the blue accents just kills it for me. If only they had a plain steel or silver outline instead i could buy this in an instant.
I thought so before buying and it was my main concern. In reality it looks amazing
Final polish by Seiko.
I have this watch, but boy I regret it. Why? The dimensions. It's much more smaller than you think.
Screw down crown?
Titanium is not a soft metal.

500 bucks for a watch you cant change a bracelet on? deal breaker for me.
Отличные часики ;)
titanium is a softer metal. .. sure buddy , whatever you say.
they're overall pretty tough.so its pretty softer tough
Ti is harder, scratches easier though. Or shows easier.

"TOUGH MVT", ugh! Who needs that sort of information on a decently classy watch?
That logo may have been wrong. However, now that I use the watch every day I don't even notice it any more.
Thats what makes it cooler ..this is a g shock in a rolex case.
