Some bands just stick with you. I first heard the gaslight anthem in the summer of 2007 in a vacant parking lot at 3am watching the people I loved most at the time just exist....skating around, goofing off, trying to find the wisdom in the dashboard stero while our youth flitted away on the wind like the smoke from our cigarettes. I have loved every single song, album, side project and solo venture since.... because some bands... just stick with you
This is a very special song for me. We played it for our first dance song at our wedding. I'll ask them to play this version at my funeral. Thanks Brian and TGA for re-recording.
This may sound overdramatic, but when I'm feeling my life hasn't been as thrilling or as adventurous as I wanted it to be when I was younger, this song always made me feel like everything is still okay. I don't need a James Bond life. There's so much beauty in a low-key one. Love this new version.
Don't you just love when bands name locations that are super local to you? "Boro Payphone" meaning "Point Boro" (Point Pleasant Boro) and "Bayhead"- a small town not far from the Jenkinsons Boardwalk along the Jersey Shore.
10 years ago i played this song in the living room and my brother was study and after this song ends called me and told me wow what a song i could not study until this song ends and after that we realize that tga is a great band
Brian Fallon is a Drug for me. I love everything about him.. the Gaslight Anthem, his solo Albums, the horrible crowes, everything. His music, his voice.. there's something special
I cant even use words to describe how their songs make me feel sometimes. This is one of those times. All I can think to say is thank you for the feelings
What a lovely new version of probably my all time favorite song from The Gaslight Anthem. Before seeing this had come out, I'd been hoping you'd play the song at your Prague show. Now it NEEDS to happen. See you guys soon!
This shit just broke me down so hard, sleep on the beach in Sea Bright. Walk down to the Jetty doesn't matter what the weather is. Buy the house in Bay Head, go out to West Texas. Shit hit hard.
What is that last line? Is it some inside joke maybe? There's a place in Texas that lets you blow up cars with tanks, but it's not west Texas. It's way south.
Eh, I never think a new take on a song detracts from the original. The original still exists. I enjoy the more layered instruments on this...both songs can be good in their own ways.
@@MusicFan-dn9ue fair enough. I don't think it needed to be redone either, but for me, that doesn't bither me or keep me from enjoying what this version is. Agree to disagree.
@@MusicFan-dn9ue I actually love both, which is rare. I think Brian has a unique talent for adapting a different emotional response from his music. Another example is "Long Drives" from Molly and the Zombies. It also doesn't matter that when he's live and changes the pacing or the key of a song, it's never horrible. Sometimes it's not great, but it's still good.
@@emmaleigh837Normally I'd agree with that sentiment, but I don't get that vibe here. I'm glad it works for you. I guess I just think this song is so perfect as it was that it should be left alone and anything that changes it just makes it worse.
Hm, I've been buzzed about a new take on the favorite song, but unfortunately this sounds like a lazy writing to me. Just couldn't understand why we need a new version of the all time classic if you don't alter it much except a woman voice in a chorus and new lines in the last verse.
I cried to this song 15 years ago.
I’ll cry to this version tonight.

This is my favorite song of all time. I have nothing meaningful to add but this made me tear up to hear.
This band will be forever in my Heart and soul
The vocal harmonies in the chorus are beautiful

Someday I'll buy you that house on Cookman
FUck yeah, sleep on the beach all night, buy that house in Bayhead. @@jamesmurphy3133
Señor & the Queen EP is infallible.

This song is the reason I have a The Gaslight Anthem tattoo on my chest. I'm taking this song with me everywhere I go.
Gaslight has been the great love of my life. Two husbands… heart aches through every word❤
Thank you!!! A classic redone! See you all in Nashville later this year! Have fun on your world tour everyone!
Was NOT expecting that ending
One of the best by the best! With wild hearts. Ty boys!
I cant even use words to describe how their songs make me feel sometimes.
This is one of those times.
All I can think to say is thank you for the feelings
Saw this live in London

NO "AAAAAH AAAAAH AAAAAH" AFTER THE "WE LIKE OUR CHORUSES SUNG TOGETHER" LINE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I love the live versions where the crowd always does it. Total let down they didn’t include it.
I've seen Brian complain how folks always sing that part off, sadly I'm not surprised it's been cut lol
I was let down. Accordion sounds nice at least
That's exactly what I'm missing. I'm sure everyone at the live shows will shout it from the audience though.

Feel this. But in Chicago. Forever and always, late nights and wild rides.
it never goes away
these goosebumps, it feels new again
That voice hits so hard...❤
Love this version even better than the original one!
Holy shit i wasn't sold on the preview but that chorus oh man oh man whoooaaa
I’ll be waiting in Chicago.
I love this song!

I love you lads ❤
Damn. Hits as hard as the original.
Oh dear, that is .. awesomeness
All time favorite
Awesome
YAS!
Wandering the streets of Asbury, searching for a memory.

This song IS PERFECT in its original version. This just detracts from it. It will always be that house on Cookman.

I agree! I love the OG version. This did not need to be redone. It just sounds over polished now. The magic was lost in translation.
Thumbs down . The original was better this is just over produce sounds more like Tom Petty than Gaslight....shame on you guys
