Karanal is such a beauty though... Nothing comes close, not even Okoumal. To my nose Bijan for Men used to have it in noticeable amounts. Read on a German chemistry site that it was featured in one of my true loves in perfumery as well, Gucci Pour Homme (so I suppose it was also used for its reformulated version in different clothes, Bentley for men Absolute, which in the Western hemisphere was a Harrod's exclusive (which got discontinued) but luckily a less expensive version with less posh packaging was released in the Middle East (and is still in production)).
Banned b the EU, yes, but the fragrances are still available. I expected Bijan for Men to get discontinued but as far as I can tell, it's still in production. The modern version probably was rather easy to reformulate, maybe even by simply using Okoumal instead of Karanal...@@SarahMcCartney4160
This is Alexandre Charra, who spent the last two summers with us and is now studying at ISIPCA. He is in a bunch of films from 2022 (with short hair because it was so hot he shaved it off) and 2023. He is very bright, talented and well-informed and I was delighted to have him as our temporary assistant perfumer.
I'm smoking my joint and at around 15:00 I'm thinking "well what are the effects of big molecules if ypu can't smell them". And a few seconds later he asks the same question! But first he thought about it and explained so beautifully, like it was a telepathic moment.
I observed a tendency with modern accomplished perfumers who think of modern synth.musks as inferior to old school banned/restricted stuff like musk ketone, ambrette etc. Funny how this snobbish behaviour is literally the same as with natural musk vs first synthetic musks two hundred years ago. Can’t blame them though cause nitro musks smell heavenly
True, although I also observe that it varies. Some people constantly look back with regret at what has been lost, and others adapt to the new opportunities life throws in their path.
Many people are anosmic to musks as they are really big molecules. Have you diluted it and tried at different concentrations? Also try adding it to other materials to see what happens.
@@SarahMcCartney4160 yes, madam Sara, I have to do that. I faced the same issue with Javanol before, but in dilution and with some practice, I can detect it very well now. I want to use Velvione in a women oriented incense blend.
I recommend mixing it with hedione and diluting it in dipropylene glycol. It is possible that this way you will be able to have a greater perception of the musk molecule.

That would be Fluffy Lemon top I think not Lemon Sherbet, but it has both natural orris butter and orris Givco to help it along the way and stop it being eleventy hundred pounds a bottle.
Hmmmmm with my box of lemon sherbet in hand the description on the back, reads as so lemon sherbet is a bright, light, Sparky, citrus scent, inspired by our childhood favourite sweetie. The sherbet dip dab, burst of citrus and lemon tartness with a touch of mellow sweetness, sitting on soft musk, and orris and thank you for replying to me, always a joy

Velvione smells like Timbersilk to me, in that it already smells "perfumey"

very informative. I cant smell Velvione, I just detect some very very faint smell.

I don't think there's any need to put it in DPG. Ethanol works better.
