Brock, I think that maybe you should have sealed the seams on the blocks and covered the side with foundation coating before put the dirt against the wall. Any water run off could get between the blocks and cause you water problems inside the quonset hut. But also in the winter if the water gets in there it could freeze and potentially try to push the blocks apart and make the gaps wider. I'm not being critical, just an old man's observation. I think I’m going to take another suggestion and put a swale a few feet out from that wall.
We actually put a drain line in there already but it was not well done and probably isn’t going to flow water because it’s got Clay on top of it
@@RockhillfarmYT If it doesn't work you can always go back and do what I suggested. You would also be able to run a french drain along the wall at the same time. I really like your work ethic and the fact that you are willing to try new things. Keep up the good work.

Man i was hoping you were gonna cut out the slope all together and grade it flat...then slap up some jersy barriers as a retaining wall for the rest of the hill!! Looking forward to seeing the super secret weed wacker attachment for the skid steer!!

My other shop has a retaining wall but it is falling over

Looks good. Think how the water will flow and affect the building. Good sod will help but not eliminate possible water problems.
Yeah, I think I will make a swale a few feet out from the wall. Should help to push the water around the backside of the building

It may be possible to make the dirt along the wall slightly higher while leaving it slightly lower about four feet out. This will create a swale effect and keep the water from collecting near the wall. If I remember correctly, there is a French drain in that area that would keep the water from sitting in the swale. Just another suggestion. Can't help putting in my two cents worth. Looks really good. I think you made a good decision.
That is actually a really good suggestion and I think that is what I will do. I was kind of debating this morning about how to deal with the water problem off the hill

This type of job easy to do with a tractor and scraper box
Maybe for you. I would not have taken my tractor across that slope. I see too many flipped tractors

A little more seat time gave you the confidence to tackle that slope. And it doesn't hurt to ponder on things, haste makes waste.
Yeah, sometimes I do half of a project and then just let it sit for a few weeks and roll around In my head to see if a better idea comes up

I think I would have cut that slope out of there to building grade.Then build an affordable rock wall for erosion purposes.I just finished phase 1 of grading around my new shop.Very hard to beat water on a grade to shop on a heavy downpour,especially when it has to perk thru to tile drain.Keep on digg'in.

Yep that’s gonna be a water nightmare. So I would do the swale and trench a French drain too. It’s fixable.
I actually already put a French drain right next to the wall that was only buried about 6 inches deep and then I just put more clay on top of it.
I was gonna put rock on top of it but I think I’ll just go ahead and put the swale in
I didn’t execute that very well but I think it’ll work out
Nice work! But I strongly suggest waterproofing the concrete. Moisture can really get into the stuff when dirt is right up against it. Even with a swale there may still be damp issues. cheers!

Looks really nice Brock great job I wonder if a landscape rake on your tractor could help out a little great video
I was thinking I would try the landscape rake the harrow and the Grapple on the skid loader and see which does the best job of picking out the rocks without digging a hole
That looks excellent. Way more manageable. Question though. Do you dislike when you get to the point when you have to get out of the seat and use a rake as much as I do? I know it's necessary for a good finished product but that's when I say "ok. Fun's over".
Yeah, I’m good with a rake for about three minutes. Beyond that I have to call in the stunt double

You still need slope away from the building. Don't care what anyone says. I know you have a collection pipe for drainage back there, so cut a slope away from the building to the drain, maybe six feet or so. Rock it too, better than clay above the drain.
Yeah, I have decided to make a swale three or 4 feet from the block wall. I’m going to mound up to the top of the block and slope away until it meets the other slope and that will push water around the back of the building

I actually did put a drain line next to that wall but I kind of botched it which I talk about in tomorrow’s video. I ended up just burying it and I’m going to put a swale in there
What kind of tooth bar is that on your bucket?
Whatever John Deere puts on the stock buckets. When I ordered it, they just asked if I wanted a tooth bar or not
