I have to just say it, you got complaints about music while installing a stereo...and I'll just leave it at that .:). Nice install and quite a nice upgrade! Thanks Van. Pat Joey for me! 👍
Hi Beeps, Did not put the two together, but you're right and funny :) Silly enough, I never listen to music in the van. Main goal as the GPS. BTW still works as intended. _Van Williams_

Nice video. I will install in a Transit Connect myself so just wanted to get an idea on how Ford made their panels. One note though... I dont belive it was nessasery to cut in the kit. The unit is supposed to be put in from the outside after the facia is installed. Not from the backside i belive...At least this is the way in 100% of all stereos iv been installing :-). But thanks for sharing this!
Hi Grombil, Thanks for the thumbs up. It was a nice project. The connect probably has many of the same panels and connections and since you likely have many of the tools you need already, it should be easy to do. Good luck! Van Williams
Joey is your backup camera in your rear view mirror? Mine looks exactly like yours and is. I have an issue with my factory rear veiw mirror backup camera and am adding an additional aftermarket backup camera and android unit. The android unit will work as my backup camera. What I'm wondering is what wire for signal to turn on camera. Commonly referred to as reverse wire. Do you know what wire is used for that?
Hi Norman, I could have used either the old or the new clips, either way I would have had enough to replace a broken one. It is a lot of feel and touch to get these panels removed the first time. Once you know where they are attached, it becomes much simpler :) Van Williams
How do I keep the factory backup camera in this van transit 250 2018 please I need the link for the harness if you would thanks I got atoto s8 8"screen
Hi Olga, I still have the small backup camera display in the interior mirror and that suits me fine, although I don't disagree with you; it's small. I use my sun visor often and that blocks the small screen, which frustrates me. I have to say, that early in the build, I added a 'backup warning sound' that goes off when I get too close to an object. That helps too. Van Williams
Two questions... How was the fit on the Dash? I've read complaints that it does not fit neat and snug. Also I've heard that you have to cut out a horizontal part of the original dash behind the radio. Is that true?
Dan, yes you have to cut out that plastic bar to install a double din head. At least on my 2018. It may not be necessary on the single din head. But that would reduce your options available. I also was concerned about the fit after reading reviews. I checked the fit of the Metra dash cover before installing the head and it fit perfectly without the clips. I think the complaints about fit may be related to clips improperly installed or not completely pushed down in place. They were very difficult for me. Crutchfield was my go to supplier with all harnesses needed and great tech support! Feel free to contact me. Be glad to help out.
Cutting the plastic horizontal bar was really easy with a razor blade knife and you do need to disconnect the negative battery cable. It seems if you don't you end up with the passenger airbag light on.
Hi Henry, Actually, I don't think I did, but everyone should do that before working on the electrical part of the vehicle. Thanks for making me aware. Van Williams & Joey
It depends on the size of the radio, that you want to install, but the one I used was bought on Amazon: cargovanconversion.com/shop/ddin-kit It's been installed for quite a while now, and it's perfect! Good luck! Van Williams
You may have seen an air bag light on. which is because I switched off the passenger seat air bag. As I never carry extra passengers, I have permanently installed the passenger seat backwards, thus making the air bag deployment undesired. Unfortunately, this causes the dashboard light to always show. This is not a defect, just an inconvenience. Van Williams
Hi Mark, Can't hide anything from you guys :) You're right. Posted two videos on this subject quite a while ago, both about a year apart. Did a remake on them and made one new video, that I posted in a new playlist "Finished Projects". That makes it much easier to research a specific part of the build. Didn't have much to show for this week either; applying lots of poly-urethane and drying of the workbench and started to work on a new website for the Van travels as well. Van Williams

Cargo Van Conversion : Glad to help :-) I was worried maybe the instructions missed that or it got accidentally edited during the update. Usually no problem but potentially bad if wires get shorted. And of course people should refer to their owner's manual for the proper steps for that as it may vary by vehicle. Nice idea compiling the videos by the way, just don't edit out any Joey scenes ;-) Have a great day !
Both original videos were recorded with about a year in between and each probably over a period of a couple of weeks. I usually have close to 50 clips per video. Sometimes I loose clips, but more often I can't use some, because they're out-of-focus, too dark or the subject is completely out-of-view. In this case, I don't think that I disconnected the battery and that means no video either :) I hope that people don't think of my videos as a How To guide; I just want to show, that with a little common sense, we all can do the most extraordinary things. BTW If I would edit Joey out, he would fire me without hesitation :) Van Williams
No, it is a 2016 model, Nello. It came with the basic radio option. I'm not entirely sure if or how the current model differs. Generally, access to the dashboard will be similar. If you want to upgrade a basic radio setup, I would consider installing a large (Android) tablet. Wish you well. Van Williams
