    Initially I was less than impressed, little planning or thought put into aesthetics ....but then you added the brown sauce. Perfect! Nice stove too.

    I love your field measurements and tools. Everything except the bent arm 90 and 45 degree square. That is definitely roughing it in. Makes me nostalgic all over again.

    Brilliant, when the door closes, does much smoke escape, I wanna make one for in house, your welding looks better than my gorilla welding

      It only smokes if the wind is blowing in a certain direction. My welding is novice like to say the least. As long as it holds together looks are less important so I shouldn’t worry. The metal was a little thin for arc. One day I’ll treat myself to a MIG setup……

    Best makers video on UA-cam . All action and no hot air except when it is used to cook!

    Now there's some skills and techniques you rarely see these days. Most go hacking at the thing with no forethought and then have to spend much time and energy going back to address issues.
    Nice build sir.

      Thanks for your words of encouragement. As you say, it pays not to rush these things, especially if it’s a first build.

    Great use of that gas cylinder. This would come in handy when our power is out. This year we went 5 days without power for our electric stove. Used camp stoves and it worked very well. This would also work well for us too as we have plenty of mesquite wood to burn.

      That’s most kind of you. The dog (Sid) is my constant companion. We’re very very lucky to live where we do in a relatively isolated part of Kent. Thanks again for the encouragement.

    proper man cave -- like mine and with plenty of stuff -- a man has gotta have stuff. A bacon and egg butty on your own made project , great -- i could smell the bacon....

      Thanks Richard. It’s part of a project to make my own little bar in the shed. Then I’ll get my mates over. I reckon pubs as we know them are finished. I’ll be doing an update soon. Cheers again for the encouraging comment.👍

    Well done... I am making one from a 16kg tank... I have removed collar and valve.... note that the valves are NOT reverse thread.... it will mess with your mind when trying to remove the stubborn bastards...Remove in counter-clockwise manner.... I used hammer and chisel...has my moments of doubt and pain...but it finally came loose...

    • @magyarninetysix9821
      @magyarninetysix9821  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the valve was as tight as could be. I kept the steel valve protect collar on and put a length of bar through it so that the cylinder couldn’t spin under me as I sat on it with my Stillsons. Not easy.

    Nice build mate! is this something someone who has never welded before would be able to do?

    • @magyarninetysix9821
      @magyarninetysix9821  3 роки тому

      For sure. That was my first attempt apart from a little practice with off cuts. Lots of instruction is out there on UA-cam. Give it a go. Its a handy skill to have and its not as if you’re welding an airliner! Good luck.👍

      Get yourself a MIG, Magyar is using a Arc welder which has a steeper learning curve but you'll end up a better welder. If you're just wanting to do a little bit of DIY hobby welding a MIG is much easier to use.

    awesome can i ask what is the thickness of plate steel did you use for cooktop?

    • @magyarninetysix9821
      @magyarninetysix9821  3 роки тому

      3mm plate. A little easier to weld than the metal of the cylinder which was no more than 2mm and easy to burn through on with the arc welder. I’m no welder! Mig would be perfect.

    How do you empty the ash

    • @magyarninetysix9821
      @magyarninetysix9821  2 роки тому

      The grate lifts out and the ash is easily removed with a little hand shovel. Wood ash is good for the garden.
