Hey Rashida, thank you for these great videos. Just had my surgery 2 weeks back and have been binge watching your videos ever since. When could you properly start running and change direction while running post surgery? Also when could you start jumping?
Hi! glad to hear they are helping. I address the topic of running and cutting here justbreathesports.com/faqs-about-acl-and-meniscus-surgery-recovery/ as for jumping, I really do not remember anymore. There's a good chance I discuss and show it in the video around the time frame when I was!
Hey champ, I’m about 7/8 months post op and do a couple of these plus use the machines. My question to you is: was this your gym routine for this period? Was there anything else you did that wasn’t shown in this vid? Thanks x
Glad to hear it sounds like your recovery is coming along well! I don't have a film of every single thing I did. This is not a comprehensive list, it is some of the main exercises I was doing. I also continued many exercises from prior months and added weight/difficulty.
I am not a doctor and have not seen your injury so I have no grounds to make an assessment! For me in the past, lack of quad strength was an issue as well as my knee not being ready.
@@RashidaBeal thank you. I’m just nervous that I’m falling behind. I stopped physical therapy for about a month because it wasn’t effective so I was just going to the gym. But I haven’t really done squats, lunges.. I’ve been doing abductor/adductor machines, hamstring exercises, calf raises, and a kick back quad machine. My PT said to not do leg press.
@@ashleyholum9078 I’m 7 months post ACLR/LCLR. Rashida’s video is great and lots of great exercises. Don’t compare yourself to others, everyone’s rehab journey is different so don’t stress. Be patient and consistent. Full ROM, minimal swelling, Leg Extension, Leg Press, Squats, RDLs etc you want to get that quad back as strong as your good leg. Also you need to test as well, your Physio/Doctor should be able to do this on specific machines to give you an indication of your quad strength.
@@scottgordon4077 actually I just started running Jan 13! Yay! I haven’t done much squatting with weight yet but I have full ROM, been doing a lot of hamstring and a few quad exercises. I’m 5 months after surgery.
@@ashleyholum9078 that’s brilliant, if you think about how much weight is going through the knee to support you when running.. it’s a lot! I would defo start adding more squats, quads should be your priority first! Depends what graph you also took too! Quads quads quads :)
Hey, I was searching for exercise and you popped up. We played pick up soccer in the past. I had a torn acl surgery a year ago and still can’t fully bend and extend my knee. Any advice?
Hey! Dang, sorry to hear about that. I have a couple of videos on flexion and extension exercises I did extension: ua-cam.com/video/vwFhHafBxJ8/v-deo.html flexion: ua-cam.com/video/ho4ogv0SR60/v-deo.html honestly, my flexion has never been exactly the same, just close enough. If you're really struggling with ROM this late out, exercises may not be enough.. you may have something more going on (like scar tissue) or may require another intervention. I'd really recommend seeing your doctor with those concerns, especially if you try those exercises for like 3x a day for a couple weeks and don't notice an improvement.
So i had acl and meniscus I’m right at 6 months. I been playing basketball and running about 5-6 miles. I might be doing too much, but was it normal for your knee to swell up after a vigorous workout?
@@TheBobbyWatson My doctor had some pretty serious warning about returning before 9 months regardless of how you feel. She told me that there are still weak points in the ACL as the tissue is still changing. justbreathesports.com/faqs-about-acl-and-meniscus-surgery-recovery/
I’m 8 months out and I feel like any functional movement is not working out well for me. I’m gaining solid strength back, but any single leg hopping, running, or athletic movements just feel so unnatural and like 50% of the sensation of the other leg. Did u ever experience this?
@@salimattal2864 been keeping at it. Focusing on the eccentric being slow and controlled and little by little it is coming back. Hey i appreciate ur hard work.
Can meniscus b treated without undergoing surgery bcz surgery might not be good for longer run ..if u could help
I cannot advise you on treating a torn meniscus, that's something you'll need to speak with a doctor about.
