I did the same to my F250 canopy about a month ago. I mount all 4 on the drivers side though. I made some internal braces to support the weight and just used high tensile nuts and bolts. They come up well, yours look good 👍
Any reason you didn't use nuts and bolts to mount it? Rivnuts/nutserts are usually used on double skin panels where you can't get to the back of the panel.
Those pin wouldn’t have held, would of torn out the canopy door. With the brackets it’s like having a massive washer pulling against a larger surface area of the door.
They look good but is there some kinda of lock. For the average thief to at least be slowed down. I’m sure they could just unscrew the four stands Cause those are expensive. Enjoy video. Good job
Can you get a specific measurement off the Animal Off-road bracket? I can’t find the dimensions of what I’m looking for on their website either…..I’m wondering what’s the measurement from the flat surface part of the bracket to top of the angled part of the bracket where the boards mount? Basically the distance between both flat surfaces. I’m trying to see if this would work for my truck bed Molle panel set up. I’m wanting to mount max trax to the molle panel at my bulkhead but I have to space them away from the panel to be able to clear my anchor points at the bottom of my bed.
Good spot where you have mounted them man! Do you know if they come with like a little lock so people can’t steal them? Also like the look of the tracks, might have to get a set myself haha
@@TyFenwick do you think I can mount it on the outside of the ute door? I'm really trying to avoid roof racks as I'm not a huge fan of them. And I can't really afford a full canopy setup so trying to see where i can put them.. My idea is get some ratchet straps feed feed them thru the gap between the ute door and strap the maxtrax. Don't plan to drove with them on 24/7 5 days a week only for when I plan to need them.
I wanted to spread the load across the door more and have a larger service pulling on the door. But you could screw a big plate on the inside and use just the pins absolutely
Aluminium canopy? Stainless Steel nutserts and bolts..... Best not to use Stainless Steel on aluminium...can cause problems........ Galvanic Corrosion The combination of aluminum and stainless steel causes galvanic corrosion. In order to understand why you shouldn’t use stainless steel and aluminum together, we first need to understand how galvanic corrosion works. Galvanic corrosion is the transfer of electrons from one material (anode) to another (cathode). In addition to knowing what galvanic corrosion is, we also need to understand the technical terms that go along with it.
Ty Fenwick I only know of this issue as it was a problem that some owners had encountered with a brand of caravan where aluminium panels were showing signs of corrosion with stainless steel fittings, some within 12 months.....presents somewhat like rust in wheel arches of cars, bubbling around the points of contact.... Something to keep an eye on...

I like those mounting brackets, I'm wondering if a shovel can be mounted behind them, or even a small custom toolbox.
Easy way to mount is to double sided tape the back of the brackets to hold in place and just drill in place then remove tape after
Yeah good idea dude 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Maxtraxs look mint mounted on the side of the canopy no rust proof no the canopy were you drill the holes ?
Aluminium so no rust issues

To hard to hold nuts on the inside if I want to take them off the truck. Makes it easy and all one sided 😄👍🏼
Nice work👍 just watch those pins on tight tracks. Can they be shortened to hold one set.
Yeah I’m going to do that mate 🤙🏼
Nice job mate. Great spot for them.👍
Won’t they hit your awning when you open the canopy door ?
Getting new awning soon, swapping it out but it will clear fine 👍🏼
They look good there mate. 7000 subs more than me lol. Cheers Steve
Good place to mount, But alot less waffling on. Nearly passed put with boredom.
Note to me… shut up 😂
Great video! Where did you get the holding brackets??
Bought them on eBay
Any reason you didn’t just fit the Maxtrax pins direct to the canopy? Would stick out less and less penetrations into the canopy...
Those pin wouldn’t have held, would of torn out the canopy door. With the brackets it’s like having a massive washer pulling against a larger surface area of the door.
@@TyFenwick did you consider mounting a bracket internally on the canopy door to combat that issue?

What about the tray lid? Easy access and dirt outside.
hey mate, did ya find that the pins hit the Awning when ya had the door up and awning out?
Na they miss, plus I have a new awning now that’s even better.
@@TyFenwick yea mint mate, I might consider doing the same then, don't know how you got the courage at all to drill into it 😂

40mm mate from flat side to flat side
Looking good mate, how much the whole truck weigh now? I’m over my gvm at the moment, I gotta cut down in weight !
I’m not sure once I get it back up be doing a weight video 😁🤙🏼
Best to mount them to the tailshaft
Perfect spot 🙈
Can you put a locker on it?
So they don't get stolen 🤔
Sure can, the pins have a hole for locks
Good spot where you have mounted them man!
Do you know if they come with like a little lock so people can’t steal them? Also like the look of the tracks, might have to get a set myself haha
Yeah you can lock the pins with pad locks 🔐
I want to mount mine on the ute door on the inside any ideas?
On the inside might not be the best mate, if the muddy last place you’ll want them is in the canopy 😁

will they fit the MAXTRAX XTREME?
These are the MAXTRAX XTREME 👍🏼
Do you need those other brackets to mount or can ya just use pins

Ty Fenwick yea sweet as mate just checking cause I only baught the pins 👍
Mint as

I doubt I’ll own the canopy long enough to see the issues before I start my next build down the track.

ozmid40scouple hey oz what do you recommend to use then? I used stainless on my canopy and my boat
I like this guy. Prefers his nose ring like his speedo. Small and tight.
Mate try talking less and doing more... Just some advice from a random dude. Good vid tho
