We were in Southern Vietnam on late January and had a lot appreciated the life there. It was during and just after the vietnamese New Year. It was very pleasant : friendly people, good food, convenient accommodations, cheap prices... I understand you chose Vietnam for a long stay (more pleasant than Cambodia and Thaïland we have visited after). We never felt insecure about pickpockets. We have now come back to Antalya and enjoy it a lot. I wish you a good time in Vietnam.
Thank you! Pickpocketing is quite common actually, I read many people lost their phones (snatched right out of their hands on the street) and mine was stolen too last October. But other than that we are enjoying our time in Nha Trang ☺️
That was an excellent video, thank you very much for sharing. Nha Trang looks lovely. Even though the sea looks a little rough the water is a beautiful colour.
Nha Trang looks very nice and tidy. Also the food looks good. Accomodation looks very good. I was in the Philippines last year and the food and accommodation isn’t great.
What about long-term stay? My staying in Istanbul became as expensive as in Saint-Petersburg in 2022 but service, cleanness and quality is much worse. Thinking about leaving it in the end of 2023. I’m huge fan of Asian food. I think I wouldn’t be tired of it. And Vietnam looks great in that case.
Excellent report and insights, thank you! I watch a lot of videos looking for an escape home and rarely have I found a the clear personal insights I you and Rene provide. Most ex-pat/nomad channels are more about clicks and too often a bunch of misleading entertainment nonsense. Looking forward to your upcoming apartment hunting episode, and if you have a sense for what's happening with rental trends, if they are being effected as much as in Thailand, Georgia and Turkey and if they may go higher? I see online, and from friends in Thailand that thousands of fed-up Americans, Australians, Canadians, Russians, Ukrainians have fled to Thailand with many settling there and buying properties, and it would be helpful for those of us planning an escape to have a sense to expect that in Vietnam. Btw: In America a recent report says the 83% of America is 'Unaffordable' and many are looking to flee. 'Nearly half of American workers don’t earn enough to afford a one-bedroom rental - The Guardian' 'Average Americans can't afford a home in 70 Percent of the country - CBS News' Thanks again!
Thank you! Yes, rent is becoming unaffordable for people around the world. It seems everywhere we go even if rent there is affordable for us, it’s not so much for locals earning in local currency. Even the airbnbs that we rented 2-3 years ago in Europe/Turkiye are now 2-3 times more expensive, it’s crazy
@@OlgaProGoingPlaces Indeed, and one unknown is the possibility of Dollar and/or Euro experiencing a massive devaluation. I experienced that back in the last century when the dollar tanked against the Yen and nearly overnight the costs doubled and then tippled and Japan went from being a bargain to unaffordable. Right now Japan is back to being pretty affordable for Americans, and in some areas like Kyushu maybe on a par with SE Asia. If I could manage a long term Visa I'd be seriously looking at returning to Japan over Malaysia, Thailand the Philippines.
I think that visa is a huge disadvantage for expats to live in Vietnam! Hope that the government considers this issue and improve it! It would use tourism and economic aspects for Vietnam❤

Nha Trang is cheap for long term living😊
How do you fund your trips
Hello Olga
We are coming to Vietnam in a few weeks, which do you prefer Da Nang or Na Trang?
Both cities are great in their own way for a visit. For staying long term we chose Da Nang and I am making a video about it right now :)

Which do you like better: NT or Da Nang and why?
Both cities are beautiful and in a way similar. For long term we chose Da Nang and I will make a video about our reasons.
