Product Overview & Demonstration WonderMill Electric Grain Mill. WonderMill Electric Grain Mill Product Overview & Demonstration Unboxing, Priming & First Flour Milling!
Hi! My name is Kim. This year my family has decided to throw out all the conventional ways of easy cooking and convenience foods. We are moving towards a new way of life..more holistic, with whole foods, all organic, and home grown garden produce. Better food, better health, better life! I know it is going to be more planning and hard work...but what we eat is the most important thing that we do all day. Food is medicine or it is poison. I want to serve medicine to my family. Join us as we embark on this new journey. It will be full of progress and mistakes, as we try new things such as tinctures, salves, fermentations, canning, homesteading, gardening, and so much more. ❤️
Your husband is a lucky man 😉
So is your wife ❤️

Why don't they just get married already!
You folks sound like really good ppl! Just started watching & subscribed to ya'lls channel. Wish we had gotten further in our preparedness by now. I have collected ALOT of books tho..ALOT! So as soon as my surgery is a success this Spring, I'll be up & running. Thanks alot for your vids & all the good folks that share. I'm learning..and loving every bit of it!
My wife and I are enjoying our wonder mill for 21 years now. Save that extra filter you will have to buy more because it will send flour dust out without it. Oh, the lid on the mill snaps on top of the little bucket for easy storage. Also you do want to freeze the wheat for 5 days min. to kill all the "no see'ems/hitch hikers" that are in your bags. We didn't and a year later after opening a bucket they were everywhere in it. Lord God bless you both hope this helps.
Thanks so much for the tips!
ALERT - This Wondermill Mill lid cupholder plastic is a poor design, and it's broken, and it's a piece of garbage. Also, it's stop working after a year. Wasted about $300 dollars.
Followed over from your husband's channel. Good luck on your journey, I'll be following along.
I purchased one for Christmas. I like it, but the pastry setting is not fine enough, so, my solution was to run the grain I ground on patty setting through my kitchen aid attachment that grinds wheat and it was a full on success.
I just started milling too! I absolutely love it. I was at a homeschool convention, years ago, and found out about the Bread Beckers- thank God! In addition to being a great source for buying grain, milling supplies, and a ton of other things, Sue has a ton of wonderful recipes and tips that have made this journey so much easier than it would've been without her. If you're anywhere near Georgia, they offer co-ops so you can get grain and other things they sell (ex. honey) without the shipping cost. I'm in no way affiliated with them, but just wanted to share the great resource I was blessed to find.
Awesome. It was a learning curve for me...which wheat to use for what :). We are actually are in GA and did join the Bread Beakers Co-op. I also bought her book, which is so good! I hope to make a bread video and many others soon. Take care ❤️
Thanks for the info!
Thank you !!!! It seems so right !!! How could grains be bad for us in their natural whole state!!
I love milling. Long time for me. I place my grain in Mylar bags with 02 absorbers. I use the gallon size. Helpful in preventing bugs in storage, and convenient. Enjoyed your unboxing.
Soft white wheat is what is used to make pastry flour, whereas hard red or hard white wheat are used for breadmaking etc. You can get the pearly white pastry flour after grinding the soft white wheat by running your flour through a sifter or flour strainer to get the bran/wheat germ out. Great video. I'm waiting for my Mockmill grinder to come in and then I'm starting the revolution too. I can't wait to see some of the bread you're going to make! Good luck.
Wow! Thanks for the tip! I will be doing that. Yes, hope to make some bread, muffin vids soon...even if they don't go as planned...I might just put those up too. We can always learn together!
This is great. I shared and pinned and I'm surprised it's not over a million views already.
Thanks so much :)
I froze my bags of berries for 24hrs in our deep freezer and I think that should be plenty of time to kill any eggs. I milled some rice on my initial mill to clean it out so I didn't have to waist any of my berries. And I agree it is crazy loud to me!!
Ha ha... 'no little friends'... thanks Kim for sharing these tips with us
You are so welcome! Bread video being uploaded now:)
Haxman channel sent me... Great to see this reviewed, I've been in research stages on this.. So great timing with video!
Glad it was helpful!
That's going to make a beautiful delicious bread...yay
Don’t waste 2 C of wheat berries when you first open it. I emailed Wondermill to verify and they said you can use rice instead. 😊
im roxana from granbury tx that was me about the bay leaf. sorry for not identiying myself. i just found weavels in my box of cornmeal it was unopened.
Would love to see some recipes using your newly milled flour 😊
Coming soon!
Flour manufacturers add barley flour and barley malt to many flours which my wife is allergic to, we learned the hard way.
What a great video! I love your backsplash too!
Thanks so much!
Hey Kim. I'm just getting started with making my own breads for family health purposes. I was wondering if you are still using the Wondermill or have you switched to anything else. I was looking at some of the electric stone grind mills like the Nutrilmill Harvest and was wondering what helped you decided which direction to go with your mill purchase. Thanks!
Great, now I gotta buy another appliance lol 😂
solid peice. get some replacement parts
I store grains like wheat, rye etc. I use vita vaults that I have santized with food safe sanitizer then air dry and ensure completely dry before placing wheat, rye etc. The Vita Vaults use gamma seal lids.
Can you use this for delicate pastries, cakes? Or just rustic breads and muffins? Also, I don't understand the refrigerating so as to not lose nutrients. Doesn't the heat from the oven do that anyway to a point?
I want this mill sooo bad!!
I'm inspired to get my mill out. Haven't used it in years. I have some grains that are around 8 years old. They were frozen and stored well, do you know how long things like that stay good?
That's awesome! From what I have read and learned, wheat berries can last for a very very long time if stored correctly (which you have done). We personally rank them up there with beans, honey, and all survival foods.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
You bet
😁👍
how do you store the wheat berries to keep weavels out?i heard bay leaf put in the container keeps them out.
The cap is difficult to remove...actually, extremely difficult.
I wonder if it could be vacuum seal to preserve the nutrients ?
Never thought of that...
@@homewithkim vacuum sealing is difficult with powder and could even ruin the vacuum sealer if the powder gets in the system. Best to just vacuum seal the grains and use and needed.
Add a coffee filter on top of the flour in a jar, then vaccuum seal.
how does it bake up? How is it on the tooth? Do you find it to be at all gritty? sandy?
Not gritty or sandy...just delicious! Here's my newest video where I bake some bread with it.ua-cam.com/video/Op28wPcB0u4/v-deo.html
Can u plz tell the link to buy this
hey again keep running into your vids :).... the flower button can you run corn? i need it super fine to make masa... pleae help with...
also before we make masa we have to put limestone in it then dry the corn off for a few days until dry. have you ever made masa before?
Sorry Ben, I have never made masa. I honesty don't know if you could run corn through this grinder. Most grain mills say "any small, dry grain" is doable, but you could also just buy a corn miller. Sorry I wasn't better help.
Question, so when the suspected "bug, larvae, eggs", are killed by freezing, we still eat them. We cant sift them away, or remove them . lol who knows what we have eaten all our lives from the regular store bought flour , meal, rice, beans.
Omg , *Kim’s a babe* ☺️

is their a smaller mill. It is only me to cook for
The other one that I know a little about is Mock mill. It has sleeker design and the milled wheat flows right into your bowl. I think that they are comparable in cost and abilities.
If you have a KitchenaAid brand mixer there is a Mill attachment available for about $135. on Amazon.
I think it would be perfect to mill for 1-2 people.
What are your thoughts of offgrid (handcranked) vs on grid options?
I have both. I use my electric mill almost daily but it is nice to be prepped with a manual mill if power were to go out. If you are going to use a manual mill daily I would opt for a larger one to save time, which I am currently looking for :)
@@homewithkim that's out of my budget, however I do think this maybe a worthwhile investment.
Hola buenas noches que precio el procedador gracias
Hola! Este molino eléctrico cuesta alrededor de 250-300 dependiendo de cuál compre
Do you still recommend this one? Thanks
Absolutely...I use it in my videos :)
@@homewithkim Thanks, Kim.. I'm def getting the hand crank one in case of outage, but to save my arm , I'm thinking of this one.. I'm watching both you and your husband's youtube channels. So glad I found you guys.. Keep it up, you are doing us a great service in educated us about how to survive .. I just got my bags of wheat berries based on your recommendations.. Thanks again.
that would be all purpose flour in the store
any one knows if you can use this machine to make rice flour ?
Sorry SOOOOOOOO late...but yes you can make rice flour with this mill.
That's because it's bleached flour from the store.
Can you use wheat from the local feed mill
If it is in wheat berry form I would use it.
no you do not have to put it in the freexer, the worst thing you can do to grain.
Just found your channel and wanted to share my story with healthy grains lifestyle. I was breaking out in night hives every night. Took pictures to show dr I was miserable he told me things to try, no relief he finally gave me Allegra it worked I could sleep again but like you, I felt it was a bandaid covering up something talked with dr he said sure we could run tests and in the end probably not know anything more for sure but you spending a lot of money just take Allegra. Hummm not my answer so I started digging and found Sue Becker and her vast knowledge thought wonder just wonder if fresh milled bread is my answer so after much research I bough the mock mill and ordered my wheat and made bread from Sues recipe it was wonderful tasting but we’d had home made bread before and gained weight eating it so that stopped but this was different no weight gains regular bowel action and we felt better not sluggish but the Allegra was still there this is six weeks in, so didn’t take it that night slept all night, I chalked it up to Allegra build up in my body no Allegra next night humm maybe on to something there. So forgot one day to eat two slices and 3 am😳 itching and hives returning I jumped up went to bread ate a slice it calmed right down so it WAS working that’s been a year and half took my dr a loaf and asked him why it stopped the hives??? He didn’t know but asked how I even tried it and next time in he said you may bring your favorite dr bread anytime you wish!
Side note: the mock mill will also grind corn for grits and cornbread where wondermill only makes flour out of it. Also mockmill is stone ground and quieter than wondermill now mock still is noisy but not like the wondermill. Might want to check it out and bless someone with the wondermill😉. I go by how my foods look in the making process more then measuring especially with wheat flour. Don’t go by what you want that dough to look like or you will make nice doorstops! It’s all a learning curve. Start with Sue Becker’s bread recipe and learn from there exactly at first.
