I wouldn't be concerned about that...I'm sure they will be dropping those hints....they never really talking about all the features up front...they play the waiting game!!
I’ve been using it more now and honestly, it’s a great DAW for mixing mastering but not that great creating in my opinion, unless you’re using all analog equipment!!

well think of it this way. if you pay $150 to upgrade you get all the virtual instruments and extensions. i think that alone is worth $150. i didnt use sphere so i didnt have all the extensions. for me its worth it. a virtual instrument alone is probably $50 or so.

For some the whole package of new features will mean nothing, for others one of them will justify the price. There will be cheering and there will be complaining. @@musician1971a for me it would be. i am on studio one 6.6.2 pro. i dont use the subsciption model. so if they add all the extensions and virtual instruments thats worth well over $!50. if they include harmony wizard thats $40 value. if they include their orchestra that's $99. they said they would include all virtual instruments and extensions. For me thats worth it because i didnt have that in my pro version
History tells us that no company will ever do it right. Because there are way too many different and opposing opinions about how things should be done. Normally a release was only announced on the day itself. This time there are a lot of changes in the pricing and licensing, so they chose to announce beforehand in order to have all questions answered and have the release of Studio One 7 be about Studio One 7, not licensing. Rest assured, there will be new features on first launch, and more coming over the following year. And some of these features will be things that you and I did not know we needed until it's there. At least, so far that always was the case for me. Being perfectly comfortable in version 3, then 4 came out and added features that became a big part of my workflow, same for 5 and 6. Same will be true for 7. There is nothing suspect about this all. What is said in the video is all about the licensing changes. And that alone was a lot to take in.
I saw a screenshot of some features that was leaked… if you haven’t seen it, then I’m not gonna spoil it..😂 if it’s the real deal, then it might make jump ship from Cubase…😅 But Stability is the most importance for my system..
It MUST include bus freeze and track freeze. It's a top feature request. Cpu draw on bus channels should be able to get frozen as pro tools offers. I know there's a multi step workaround, but it should be one toggle on and off. They continue to ignore this critical feature. Fingers crossed that this will happen. If not, I'm not upgrading from 6.
Long time Cakewalk user turned to Reaper as my favorite, but I almost went with Studio One 6 and auditioned the Pro demo. I passed on Studio One to avoid a subscription plan. I do have the free Prime version but never use it. A friend of mine who loves Studio One Pro also has a lot of Presonus hardware, so to him it's worth upgrading. Another friend of mine uses the Artist edition but I reckon he'll end up upgrading. It's not a bad deal at all really.
There was, and will be, a perpetual license. The only actual subscription when it comes to Studio One itself will be the monthly subscription. Everything else gives you a perpetual license.
@theopacalypse when I am working in FL Studio, I can write in my 808s or hi hats and make them individually bounce from one ear to the other. Just for texture and to draw in the listener. I don't know if you're being funny or not, but that's why, and I love Studio One and like to do what I can do in Studio One, which I can do in FL Studio. Even handling 808s is better in FL, and I'm hoping that Studio One catches up with FL when it comes to Hip Hop and R&B. Studio One is great, but Catered more to rock and roll. But I believe they will catch up.
Most people cheap and broke. They dont understand the work put in making their DAW.......so when they give a new version HALF OFF i appreciate it because they dont have to sell it for that price. Im one of the first people who ever used it. You can scroll down my tube page years ago.

It's a soft subscription service. You get the pro and updates for one year...then what? If you want the latest update you're going to have to pay for another yearly licence. If you get the pro + you get the same yearly drops and access to the previous subscription services such as cloud sharing among other things. I'm not going to keep paying for a year's licence just to be able to get whatever "feature drop" within that year.

Among the minor DAWs, Studio One is really overstepping its bounds here.
It was like that before. To explain: When version 6 was released you got new updates, some of which included features, up to 6.6.2. But most of the time there was quite a gap between the last version of one to the next whole version update. What that means is that you did not get 2 years of updates, but rather 15-17 months. And then you pay for the new version. And if you wanted to receive that update you had to pay the upgrade price. Like with pretty much all software. Now it will basically be the same. No more updates after that year, but you can jump in any time you want. You know, from all the comments on UA-cam and Facebook I have seen it seems to be more an emotional problem than an actual one. The idea of not getting updates after a year unless you pay. But in reality nothing really changes, or not as much as people think. You keep using the sofwtare for as long as you like and when after 5 years you decide to update you get everything that was released since the previous time you upgraded and you don't pay any extra, because, just like now, there is no difference in price based on what version you upgrade from. People who now upgrade from version 2 pay the same as those upgrading from version 5.
We use to get new "feature" releases throughout the life cycle of the software. Usually 2+ years. Now were are going to have to upgrade ($149) every year to get new "features".

Now, in all fairness, the new features would come in the first 2 third of the running time and then quite a few months with no updates at all. So basically you would get like 16-18 months of updates, not 2 years.
I'm gonna be real i play yearly for the studio one +. now i ordered the HD 2 which comes with a year of studio one +. after going back and forth with them them said when the new current one expires the studio one + that comes with HD2 will kick in. which would hold me down to 2026. but with this I'm completely lost. Why??? I don't understand because nothing changes for you until the end of that period. What happens is that at the end of the current annual membership you paid for, the one that came with the interface will become active. So you do not pay for that year. At the end of that you have Studio One at the version it is then, so you're set until 2026. It's all good news, nothing bad, nobody gets screwed. What am I missing?
Ima stick with studio one 5 artist , even tho that’s a great price for a pro version. 5 does what I need it to do, they really need to do something with chopping samples like maschine, cause just slicing them is not fun at all, unless im missing something
they badly need a multiband saturator that competes with Saturn 2. without that you cant have a pro mix. and i hope that the new version includes their ssl bus compressor. they need all the tools to produce a full mixed and mastered song without external plugins.
@WolfgangKarp yea but imho a DAW should have the basic plugins necessary for mixing and mastering without getting third party vsts. i shouldnt have to buy additional plugins unless there is one i particularly like. an SSL style bus compressor should be standard. Logic has one. If i had a mac i would switch because they have everything need. And they have good sound libraries that come standard like orchestra, horns and if i were to do hip hop or edm its got all kinds of synths in there. im a rock guy but i think a DAW should also have all production needs as well for any style. That being said, if 7 includes everything im hoping it includes their brit comp which is an ssl style comp. i dont want to have to keep buying plugins all the time.
Not that it wouldn't be cool, but how is it that people expect a DAW to include the options of paid third party plugins? If you need a certain tool, buy it, don't expect it for free. What the DAW needs is all the tools you need for mixing. Saturn is not one of those tools for the vast majority.

On the master bus its probably not going to sound good without some form of transformer distortion. whether its from hardware or plugin. And on some instruments tape distortion is needed to tame the sound down. whether its from a plugin or hardware. if you arent using satuartion somewhere its probably not going to sound good.

Just like always you will see all the features listed and demonstrated right after release. There is nothing that tells you to pay for an update without knowing what it will give you. You decide after you see what new features there will be.

I upgraded to Ver 6 late last year, but somehow I'm ineligible for the free upgrade to SO7. Fender is shaking my faith.
