God, I love OneFC. It is like a love letter for every martial artist. Made by martial artists for martial artists. They carry that ippon mindset where you have to finish your opponent, but also enforce the budo humility where respect is valued. No trashtalk, pure action.
I like watching One fights because the fighters always seemed scrappier, interesting to find out it's built into their DNA that they're looking for finishes. Was not expecting Chatri's response for why he does martial but that was really well said 🥋🙇♂️
Wow I already loved one due to its availability with Amazon and I'm a fan of both graplling and striking. But gdam this podcast made me like them more, the CEO seems like a good dude. I like that he's an avid martial artist too.
There are many great organizations today, but my favorite by far is ONE. It's like my one-stop-shop for everything martial arts. MMA, grappling, kickboxing, and Muay Thai can all be in a single event. Also, I didn't know that Chatri is a grappler, much less a brown under Renzo! Awesome interview, and I'm looking forward to May 5th.
I think it would be cool to see high amplitude throws count as 'catches' to encourage more standing game, and get more judokas/wrestlers in the grappling events, while not also devaluing submissions. Something like a trip or foots sweep would be excluded but getting thrown by something that could cause damage like a suplex or seoi should count as much as a sub attempt, wont win the match like an ippon in judo but getting tossed around at will should count for something.
I hope they come up with more competition formats. Like you proposed, some form of judo format where you focus on throws. 10 minutes, winner is the one with the most throws like in submission grappling, short newaza times. Or a bareknuckle mma format with helmets similar to daido juku kudo. Maybe a mma format with gi to see how clothes work in mma.
I like almost everything about ONE, it's an awesome promotion. The only drawback is the sometimes weird judges decision in Muay Thai when it's a Thai vs foreign fighter, fighting in Thailand. You basically need a knockout as a foreigner to take the win there.
The whole time I followed ONE I’ve never heard of this guy before. I find this to be be a good thing. Unlike with Dana White where he always tries to put himself over the fighters like if he’s the main attraction.
podcast has reached VIP status

Ones has so many cool things; good weight control, high level muay thai with small gloves, BJJ, being able to watch it on UA-cam and so on 👍
Now that ONE is coming to the US, I wanna see Chatri Sityodtong vs Dana White lol
☝️ lol
i pay money to see that

Ban guard pulls in one submission grappling
interesting that they didn't do any marketing in the US and still sold out
