I agree. I see a ton of people mentioning that it would become the most powerful country, but things like the Louisana purchase probably wouldn't have been an option for Britian. Britian also had a fairly bad track record with colonies, so I doubt even the small portion of the 13 colonies would reach the power of the modern day equivalents.

In the American colonies during the time the British invoked the tea tax, many colonists switched to coffee instead of tea as a way to boycott. After awhile, it was seen as “patriotic” to drink coffee instead. It stuck and that is the reason Americans today drink coffee in the morning and not tea. If you go to England, they still drink tea in the morning.

I love how everyone commenting and constructing these videos doesn't see the most obvious determining factor.Britain's Industrial Revolution kicked off in the early 1800's and they had steam powered gunboats, within decades of war of independence. at that time in history, they were the most superior military force, in human history, including the US right now, who, as we see is struggling against Russia. They were literally fighting against sailing boats, with single shot rifles and look out easily only 2 steam powered gunboats defeated China so quickly.
*Add to this the fact that other nations industrialise. Decades later in this timeline, ONLY because British, engineers, entrepreneurs and industrialists gave consultations freely for cash in London, which would not have happened due to" national security", if the US was still a colony and especially if they lost the war of independence, having risen up

It would depend entirely on how Britain dealt with the rise of Germany. It was the mismanagement of the whole rise to World War I and then World War II, which made independence movements globally inevitable, because those in those countries were unified as groups into resentment against being in such mortal danger, which they weren't so much as a Dominion, without war.
Had the French monarchy adapted like the Brits monarchy was to do and had Napoleon not come to power, There would undoubtedly be no modern unified German state, Make up but just a collection of different states, which would have resulted in no 1st and Second World War. A stronger military successful France, would never allow Germany to unify because the German people were more numerous and the landmass had better natural resources, so it would be seen as a threat, which in the end it was, but France in the 19th-century was too weak after Napoleon, to prevent it through diplomacy and intimidation, like it had before
Effectively, the colonists in North America preindependence In majority were quite happy under British rule(Which Wasn't very autocratic) and it was touch and go whether the American War of independence would have even happened, even when it did. Sufficient resentment had to be exacerbated and galvanised over many decades, even during the rural independents, as even during a high proportion of people were against the idea and could have been placated had certain unfortunate events happened in sequence, when they did not

If they hadn't ever given their people more freedom then there would've been massive revolts and they would've either dissolved sooner or had to kill so much of the population to retain order that they would've been weakened immensely. The only way you could ever make an alternate timeline where they "won" is by still having it and the eastern bloc still exist into the new millennium but even then that wouldn't be much of a win because the west would've been much richer and more powerful than them.

Biggest regression of any nation in the 20th-century, but they are still relevant, which cannot be said for Rome, ancient Greece, ancient Egypt, et cetera
*But people have a short-term memory… Germany and Japan by now going through the same regression that the Brits did in the mid-20th century after they were the industrial and innovation powerhouse, of the world from the mid-1700's to 1900 and then over regulated industry to consolidate gains amongst the wealthy, who had developed and got control of that innovation, in turn preventing your ideas coming through. The hungrier unregulated Germany and Japan superseded Britain's industry and superior position in most industries. At that time, and now they have overregulated and have regressed in the 21st-century versus China, South Korea and Indonesia and are going through the same self evaluation. The Brits ended up having Thatcher let go of their industry, and develop a much more service-based economy, which was savage decision as she could have supplemented several industries, just like Germany has done to keep its car industry in Germany at the expense of the taxpayer
*Japan and Germany. Decisions to over regulate starting to hurt them badly now in the 21st-century, As their low birth rates and lack of international sales are leading to major deindustrialisation, which could have been avoided by developing a more mixed economy and letting some industry go… They literally don't have the young people in the future to consume the products they produce to update their infrastructure, continue their standard of living and also to manpower their heavy industrial labour-intensive base

Also Alaska probably would’ve been taken in the Crimean war, it’s likely that the USA would’ve been a similar size under the British empire as it is today.
Why do you think the British empire of all things would’ve been less expansionist against its enemies than the USA?

    • @mr.battledroid2195
      @mr.battledroid2195 Рік тому +3

@@maxdavis7722 nah bro. The napoleónic wars didn’t have Spain for the most part and Britain fought more France than Spain did has the incompetent current ruler of Spain allowed occupation by France without resistance. I know history and I can assure you Spanish viceroyalties such has new spain (Cuba Hispaniola Florida Luisiana British Columbia once etc) had a very competent army because instead of killing natives or exploiting slaves they treated them well to the point Spanish army in the americas was a thousand times stronger than European Spanish army and British army in general. Britain also had to divide its navy due to different territories and due to the strategic positions of Florida and Luisiana Spain would’ve ended up taking US. Primarily because of ground numbers and ground unit quality in general. There’s also geography which Spain has in favor and also revolution. Florida is infamous for being the refuge for British black slaves that were treated in sub human conditions. These slaves travelled to Spanish Florida to become free or at least be treated has a human. Due to the amount of slaves in British mid North America it would’ve fallen quickly. In fact, Spain was one of the major reasons of why napoleonic France collapsed, at words of napoleon itself. Also, many if not all British officials said themselves any attempts to take Spanish viceroyalties would be unsuccessful probably due to Spanish power and size. The Russians didn’t advance more Into america because of fear of the Spanish which controlled south Alaska and British Columbia. Spain also controlled the Caribbean despite superiority of ships by the British empire. Most naval invasions were humilliating and unsuccessful for British like Cartagena de indias where 30k men got killed by 3k men and 247 ships got sank by 27 ships (numbers were around there.) British empire was not centered on taking Luisiana it was centered on helping Spain take over France has that would end a major enemy both had. What you said is absolutely wrong, and senseless. The only reason of why america gained independence was because of Spanish support.

Honestly you overestimate spains empire a lot here. You are forgetting in this scenario britain has both the USA and Canada in North America and will have quickly conquered louisiana. Spanish North America was unlikely to be able to properly fight off Britain, USA and Canada when only a couple decades later mexico would fail to fight off the USA alone.

@@maxdavis7722 spain was a main ally that supported France not with resources not troops, while UK was loosing troops Spain was just supporting France which was kicking UK’s ass. That was until napoleon invaded Spain and with help of the UK Spain kicked out the French from the peninsula. It was a very devastating war for the French. Meanwhile Spain was fighting on Europe American Spain viceroyalties barely sent any troops has they already knew Spain would end up winning. Due to this they were well protected and had massive forts on American coasts and frontiers such has Florida which was full of forts and cannons. Let’s not talk about Cuba and colombia. The number of troops by Spain is clearly bigger in the americas because unlike Britain they didn’t apply biological war on natives or enslave them. Natives were for the most part very loyal and due to this and the lack of a caste system there was many patriotic natives and mestizos and criollos which would fight for the Spanish crown. If what you’re saying is right what makes you think Britain would’ve not sent it’s “overpowering navy” to some Caribbean island or Florida to invade it? Because they had a mayor enemy. And the possession of Canada is worthless has most of Canada wasn’t controlled and was untouched. Only the south and certain parts of the north were controlled so it had a very fairly low population

Well technically britain wouldn't have all that land but only the original colonies, in this scenario it implies that Russia still has Alaska, wich is a huge thing to consider, and there would be a giant Mexico that would be the strongest country in North america

    • @maxdavis7722

Not really, it’s likely that britain would’ve taken Louisiana in the napoleonic wars and might’ve attacked mexico too as both Spain and France were at war with Britain. Neither Spain or France could properly defend its colonies against the Royal Navy and British North America as well.
Also Alaska probably would’ve been taken in the Crimean war, it’s likely that the USA would’ve been a similar size under the British empire as it is today.

British North America would have included Upper and Lower Canada and probably be far richer than the USA. There would have been no second amendment, slavery would have disappeared in 1833, and responsible self-government would have occurred in the early to mid 19th century. The main tax was to finance the war of 1759, and a compromise could have been reached. Louisiana may have still been French speaking and Texas may have stayed Mexican. The arguments about the Royal Proclamation of 1763 are ludicrous; the Proclamation applied to Canada - just look where its western border lies. But for some slave owners wanting to seize lands west of the Ohio river, the 13 colonies would have enjoyed free trade with the rest of the Empire and had a lower tax burden. The colonies were already largely self-governing prior to 1776.
If the 13 colonies had stayed loyal, independence would have occurred by legislation like the 1867 Act granting Canada home rule - not quite as stirring.

Napoleon had 0 chance of successfully invading Britain. Besides, if independence didn't happen due to the Lack of French involvement, in the war, there would be No Napoleon at all, because France aristocratic hegemony would have survived and eventually they probably would have adapted to a parliamentary democracy, which Lafayette had envisioned, before American war independence adapted his thought process

Within decades Britain alone had steam powered gunboats, due to the Industrial Revolution and all other countries remained with sailing boats for decades.
If the Colonies remained British, and they fought and lost the war on independence, I doubt the Brits industrialists, Entrepreneurs and Engineers would have openly spread the ideas and skills of industrialisation, with consultations in London, as it did in our timeline, for payment. Parliament would undoubtedly have been stopped this due to national security. The other European nations would have industrialised decades later, than in our timeline and more gradually- probably into the mid-20th century
