And today we see the Cholo fashion being copied in Japan, in the Philippines but especially in Central America & god knows where else but no matter what anybody says, us Chicanos/ Chicanas , WE started that fashion/ style & no other ethnic group can’t & will never do it better than we did during the 1980’s…..✊

I was in Hayward some years ago? To visit family all around the bay area. I went to this poker house. I forget the name! But the place was small. But the people there were VERY respectful! I played well. And that PAYED well! I wasn't shy to tip the main ones who kinda brouggt me luck a lil bit! I remember i ran out o weed and this dude was smokin outside the place. I asked if i could put up wit em. Or jus buy a lil so i can go in a lil quiet corner myself. He denied me!!!!!!!!! I said "coo". I took him out of the poker tournament, calling his all in with a 8 7 hearts!!!😂😂 Peace Hayward!!!✌🏿 Home of Spice-1 leta not forget westcoasters!!!

Cause that’s the way we did it back in them days! We cruised/ hung out playing classic soul from the 60’s/ 70’s & dance/ funk music and today, us older Chicanos/ Chicanas, we’re still keeping that music alive & well, while the younger generation of Latinos are into listening to all that Rap/ Hip Hop shit, even at the Low Rider Shows of today , you have young Latinos rapping on stage, which I can’t stand but that’s what’s been going on today & the last 15yrs. For me, there will never be anything like the 1980’s.

So why you guys try to copy us with our low riders and make it seem like it’s a black culture ?

    • @raytree

I always found interesting, the Chicanos of the bay area look alot different than the southern californians. Zoot suits were a prominent part of jazz culture among blacks up in Harlem, new york. Chicanos being influenced by this added their own unique designs to the clothes though. Also their calo slang came from "jive" (slang spoken among blacks) with incorporated Spanish. Nevertheless, blacks were influenced by their lowriders and hydraulics. Its not a love or hate thing, but you gotta ackowledge where it came from before you claim it as your own. Like with hiphop, that started in the south bronx, new york, Puerto ricans and blacks same neighborhood.

Why do you all have to be so separated amongst races, music is connecting people together doesn't matter they race and genre of music, it's exactly what the system wants you all to be, segregated

Rosie and the originals who sung Angel Baby is white, and she also sung songs in Spanish, and the famous oldie Smile now cry later is sung by a Tex Mex group, if you don’t know what that is it’s Chicano. 😂
