A basic right, water is being run for profit
But socialism would be bad lol
"A basic right, water is being run for profit" - This is capitalism. And sometimes, in capitalism, businesses fail; which is what should happen to Thames Water. Only then, do the government takeover.
We can moan as much as we want high water bills electricity and gas bills council tax bills we are like prostitutes been screwed 24 /7
Brexit is going well
@@dogbreaththe3rd851 explain?
@run2cat4run Change the record. There is something very disturbing about your apparent fixation with Brexit. Apart from that, you are extremely boring.
@@wallacewhybrow2705 and you are avoiding my questions
When Thatcher championed the privatization of our Water in 1989 has the best deal for the UK people, for bills and service, they started with a clean slate, and no debts. In 2024 they had collection of debts of £ 60 billion during the same time shareholder dividends payout has been £72 billion. So despite OfWAT confirming the taxpayer has been providing "All" of the funding to the water companies for 33 years, we are being told the shareholders are refusing to pay for works needed and want bills raised by 40 % to pay for it.
'Its not a failure of privatisation, the gov have failed to compell the compamies to invest, the regulators have dropped the ball'
So privatisation is no good without government intervention and regulatory involvement?
@@johnkitching2248 they are all a shower, left to right, top to bottom. Useless, corrupt and full of ideological garbage.
Money money money the water tastes funny in a rich man's world 😅
That’s capitalism for ya
@run2cat4run The NHS is the role model of Capitalism...
@@dogbreaththe3rd851 look at UK with pro capitalist Tories and tell me thing’s are ok?
When they sold off UK utilities they sold off thousands of acres of land and buildings
They were all under valued
Aye, and I'm sure the taxpayer will be charged over the odds to buy them back, like all the public building that have been sold off. Police Stations, Post Offices, Libraries, Public Parks etc. What time does the revolution start?
it will be cheaper to buy water from the supermarket if they do this
Cheaper to just not pay.
Since it and other water suppliers were privatised the share holders have drawn their profits directly without putting anything towards the infrastructure.
That Man on the right saying its all to do with OFWAT not having the powers . lol OFWAT has ordered them to do 1000s off things but get ignored as the fines are built into there yearly budget .. Its gotta be brought back into UK hands . Its the only way we can do whats needed .
Utilities should be non profit.
What's this guy on about "the water which they produce" they're in the water management business they don't 'produce' water!
Thames water shareholders pocketing all the money rather than keeping the water infrastructure in good nick. Now I expect it will be down to the tax payer to bail them out.
The water companies and OFWAT are too closely linked. Former OFWAT executives become directors of water companies and vice versa.
I cant understand how nationalised cant work the profits would still be there but from the profits you pay to run the companies
so.. the australian bank who put thames onto this path of huge debt in order to feed their own shareholders gets away with their behaviour !!
and their reward? to be alllowed to go after southern water..
that bank and their directors should have been banned for life.
and ofwat should have been fired for being asleep on the job when this started years ago..
its time for public monopoly utilities to be nationalised( without compensation as they have made plenty of moeny already) and only run privately under licence..
Who got the back handlers when it was privatised?
I haven't paid for water in 10yrs.
Are they taking legal action i only got slightly behind with payments and they got a solicitor involved and put my bill back to what id paid off so since ive just ignored them not paid any
@@petersmith2522 No. They just sold it off to a debt agency, and their letters went into the bin. Not a lot they can do unless you make contact.
@Henry-Ludlow Not sure, it just comes out of my tap.
We also remember the Thames being cleaned up and fish returning to swim in cleaner waters
Stop paying the water bill simple when they realise they losing money then they might sorry themselves out . Personally I'd let them go bust . I don't care about the shareholders losing money. Stop the backhanders to environment agency and ofwot and letting them turn blind eye.
Remember folks, when privatisation fails, it's not a problem with privatisation. But when national control of services fails, it's because government can't be trusted to run these things.
Also, privatisation of monopolies is a good thing, despite the fundamental conceit of capitalism being that competition improves services and monopolies - by definition - have no competition.
They should be beholden to all the water users before investors.
Privatisation of water companies prioritises profits for the companies and dividends for the shareholders, not the quality of service. They will spend less money on improving water quality to increase profit leading to a poorer quality of water, especially with no competition. The railways and utilities were not as bad in the 80’s and in some cases the gov reduced their service to push for privatisation.
Imagine what an influx of 1.2 million people 'a year' does to infrastructure, including our sewage infrastructure.
I really don't think you can turn Thames Water's ineffectiveness to run a business into a rant on immigration.
Imagine an influx of tory gangsters selling off our nation's assets for last 14yrs!😂
@@hughzapretti-boyden9187 Indeed, now couple that with an influx of 1.2 million people a year.
Imagine if £72 billion hadn't been syphoned off instead of reinvestment in infrastructure.
@@highlandgnome Yep, now imagine that 72 billion could be used for, without the burden of mass 3rd world immigration!
Stop Privatization 🇬🇧🏴
Who's funding the regulator follow the money
It's seams to me if l read this right is another Philip Green situation were someone ,in his case or some company takes dividends , or assets our of a company then attempts to sell it on loaded with debt.
Millions were taken out of Thames water, then it was sold on , now they are 500 million in debt, their should not only nationalion but a public inquiry and the company and those responsible hit with the full force of the law
the accountabilty when nationalised is in the hands of the gov and if they fail to run the industry properly we get the chance to sack them by voting them out
It's cheaper for them to pay the fines .Not interested in fixing or improving the system. I actually heard a senior employee of one of the water companies say this.
Amys braindead ad usual. Thames should go into administration and offwat abolished. Disgusting governance.
shareholders should not be profiting if there is no operational profit to share. Have a 10 year no payout holiday and let the company get off it's knees
It's a problem of privatization
Offwat is captured by Thames water
but they have a right flag 😂😂😂
I wonder, what if the private companies notified the municipalities that it would no longer accept stormwater into the sewer system and require a plan from them within 60to 180 days for installing a septate stormwater system. Why, well it is happening here in the US.
Well is has not worked in the Private Sector, in fact financially its worse, its time the plug wax pulled, this is a private company, dictated by shareholders and regulated by ofwat, why should any government tell them how to run their business, or even oversee it, it is in private foreign hands. If the government are required to oversee these utility companies then re nationalise them.
You all voted the tory gangsters in!😂
@GBNews if you think that's bad just checkout what the city of Montreal does over here in Canada twice a year 😂
Ben is so fit ❤
Well if he's looking in, you just might get a chance,
