    It was this video that eventually led to me buying a Clara. I just never forgot that sound! 🎶❤️🎶

    I am very happy that you are doing these comparison videos, many thanks. I could hear the difference between each one you played so it worked for me. The two that stood out are: aNueNue ASR2 and the Blackbird Clara, yes if Blackbird wanted to destroy the competition they could....

      Thanks for the kind words Brian.. I plan on doing more concert comparison videos as stock rotates so keep an eye on the channel.

    I own that Martin C1K and the KoAloha Opio. I love them both ♥️🥰.
    The Blackbird Clara is my dream.

    I got my Ohana CK35G from you guys at Christmas and I love it. If I had to choose from these, for me the Kanile'a wins hands down. There is just something about it, the look, the sound. Its just gorgeous. One day 😁

    The Blackbird Clara “sounds” great but won’t be everyone’s cup of tea visually. So for a more traditional and timeless look and still amazing sound, the Martin C1K at today’s current price of $499.00 American is the biggest bang for the buck. Beautiful all Koa wood ukulele with amazing tone!

    Chock full of information. I also followed GirlMeetsUke review on her Clara. It is a small ukulele world.

    Great series of videos, but would have been even more helpful if you could have done some strumming. To my less than sharp musical ear I struggle to detect significant difference on the picking.

      Hey there, I completely see where you are coming from. The problem is that strumming instruments abruptly chops off the end of the notes and if you stop the notes from ringing out most Ukuleles end up sounding exactly the same through computer speakers. By picking and doing a stroke of each chord like I have done here - it seems to be the most effective way to gain enough perspective and tell the more subtle nuances and differences in solid/laminate or cedar/acacia/spruce/mahogany. By strumming each one you may only be able to tell which one is loud and which one is quiet. Not to mention, whenever we strum in a video people dislike the video.
      I will work on this for the Soprano video and future Concert videos to see if I can play a piece that gives you a bit more of an insight whilst letting you hear a 'strum' but actually if you feel your ear is a little underdeveloped I would rather just record some audio playing whatever you want me to on the Ukes you are interested in and email it over to you.. Would probably help you make a more informed decision if you couldn't visit the shop to try them.
      Thanks for watching
      Alex

      You make a very good point. It's often only by strumming that real difference can be appreciated

      Southern Ukulele Store thank you for taking the trouble to explain. I have an Ohana TK10 that I bought from you about 5 years ago and it's great. I also have an Islander MST-4 which I bought from you, and I particularly like the wider nut. I get great pleasure from the Uke although I'm very poor at it. On this video the Kala KA-SCG and Snail SUC-M2 sounded best value to me...

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  6 років тому

      philrab66 did you at least gain some perspective from the explanations?
      I have some different microphone and preamp combinations arriving in the coming weeks so will continue to play around.. of course the best way to hear these subtle nuances is to come and try the Ukes. The frequencies of the Ukulele have a habit of ‘honking’ into good quality microphones - I found this with Ukulele site and Andreas’s videos and even discussed this problem with various manufacturers back in Jan at the NAMM show. We could studio record each Ukulele but the conversational tone of the videos and what to look for when making a selection may almost certainly get lost.
      What do you think?
      Regards
      Alex

      philrab66 hi Phil - that might be a tough one. You have Matt at World of Ukes I suppose. Slightly different product range but another shop really eager to please!
      Keep an eye on other videos and hopefully the audio quality will improve. I will be doing more concert and tenor videos in the coming months.

    Can you do one on long neck sopranos

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  4 роки тому +1

      That might be tough.. not many of the brands we deal with produce them these days. If the opportunity arises, I will certainly jump on it.

    Seeing this video, the Martin C1K is full of brightness
    bright tone
    is it a balanced sound ?
    the best sound for a concert size? Or maybe the others have a more balanced sound (not just with the trebles, no thin sound, without any bass)

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  5 років тому

      Yes it is balanced but koa is very bright naturally so it has a brighter edge to it like most concerts.

      @@SouthernUkuleleStore in fact what i want is a ukulele in a concert size which sounds like a soprano size
      so, maybe it's the best one over PONO ACD concert deluxe
      and Kala solid acacia concert
      i like a fast strumming to hear the differences

    Do they have Fret markers on the side? I love my Kala KA-SCG

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  6 років тому

      The Martin is indeed made in Mexico - I even mention this in the video I think? The KA-SCG is a great uke!
      All of these Ukuleles have fret markers although this is something added as an optional extra on the Blackbird Clara's (The one in the video has them).
