i love the details in this game so much, like the cloth wrinkles moving like actual cloth and the horse's muscle contracting and relaxing when it's walking.
I'm playing this on 1440p and RTX 3080. Enabling DLDSR to play at 5K improves the image quality while still running at around 60-70 FPS with high to ultra settings. It is especially noticeable with edges being a lot smoother. Recommended if you don't have an 4k screen.

This is the only game I decided to walk in most of the time instead of run. One reason is to enjoy the scenery, another reason is that I'm so into the character and feel lived in the game that I don't think I will be running in that situation and also I won't wanna run if I have tuberculosis.

Every time I watch maxed out graphics on youtube the video quality always looks blurry but this actually look good on youtube. Whatever you did works really well
Turn off DLSS if you want true native resolution. Most likely in this case you are rendering 1440p with DLSS set to Quality. DLSS is always using a lower resolution and then it dynamically upscales it to a higher resoulution for better framerates. It's a very good function though don't get me wrong.
yep, visually DLSS 2.0 in quality can seem to improve graphic quality in near objects, but when you move or play you can see some parts are blurred/glitched and has input lag on top of ghosting.

The best AA setting is TAA set to Medium while editing the system.xml file in the game folder and changing the setting called "MaxTexUpgradesPerFrameValue" to 10 instead of 5. Sharpens up the image more in motion than with it set to default and retains a cleaner image than the horrible aliasing you get with DLSS.

Would like to know if my PC will be a bottleneck ... it is i7-8700k, ASUS ROG z370 chipset, 32 GB 2644 ram. 750 watt power supply. Just retired and can't afford a total rebuild. Just bought RDR2... Currently have a Zotac 1080i Amp Extreme 11gb. will it be overkill to buy one of the new GPU's? Will performance be reduced in any way?
Many overlook this, try set your resolution scale to 1.5 if able, 2.0 for best results. The game look amazing with this setup compare to non resolution scale full ultra. But in the cost of your FPS.
I mean the last of us 2 is the closest I can tell that looks equally as good but then again one is a huge open world game and the other is a sandbox style half open level type game. Naughty dog is the only ones that can come close to with rockstar does. It would be epic if they made a open world uncharted game with the last of us 2 graphics.
Yeah, imagine something close to this graphically and with 60fps. It would make me play the story once again. I loved the game but after playing with 60fps, it triggers me to play it at 30fps idk why. But I really hope they do make a next gen upgrade with this kind of graphics.
@@NKal Because the GPU is around as powerful as a 2070 Super. I have a 3080 Ti and on max settings, it is barely above 60fps at 4K. Very roughly, the 3080 Ti is twice as powerful as the 2070 Super. You would probably get 40-50fps with PS4 equivalent settings on a PS5 at native 4K.
I remember a decade ago when developers used to make fake gameplay trailers of how they wish there games looked,todays games have achieved that fidelity. You only need to sell your kidney and its yours.
Well without an OSD we don't really know the stats :p Also you're playing with DLSS Quality so graphics are upscaled from a lower resolution to gain more FPS. Still it's a good thing you upload these videos for comparison. For the money it costs to build a rig like this to the performance balance isn't as impressive as it seems. What would be really helpful is seeing CPU and GPU usage to see how well optimized the game is. Last time I played RDR2 was before the DLSS update and back then I was not impressed, but I had to disable tree tesselation to get decent performance on my i9 10900k/RTX 3090 in 4K.
dude, youtube compresses the video a large amount. if you want to view the difference you need to either play it yourself or have the saved video and played uncompressed.
@J Garcia Thanks for the response man :) I know about compression, that's my point, that the game looks so good that to see the difference one should play it on a 50" 4K TV. TBH I can see a difference in gameplay, but mostly in FPS mode - in TPP and on smaller screens, the difference is barely visible.
funny thing. i played on 1660ti and didnt notice a difference, and even sometimes blurry things are seems more pleasant to an eyes. There is no reason to buy all this new videocards, at least now.

I have an RTX 3080 and i7 9700K, and I'm getting the same performance as here. This is mostly due to the great implementation of DLSS. Without it, my PC is dragging its ass through the mud like a wounded bastard..
It's sad that we probably won't get another game like this ever again. Seeing that there's a lot of complaint about the intricacies and realism. Rockstar will go with another more arcady style next time they make red dead redemption

Game looks better in lower resoultion. 1440p is pretty sweet, you crank up 4K and HDR modes too much so that the dynamic lighting becomes unrealistic. The levels of shining light beams and vistas is too much. The game looks much more realistic when the colour grading and contrasts aren't so dominating. Overall field of vision is skewed because of such glaring difference between blacks

The game is so well optimized that I barely see any significant difference between this and 1080p gameplay from my old 1660gtx PC
