- A great pen. Beautiful combination of titanium & clear resin. See new version compared to original. I compare a Bock EF to an Asvine EF nib. See which one is better in my hand.

Thanks Chris. It's always nice to see your reviews! Pens are so irresistible! I have too many and too many inked up but I LOVE them all. Take care
You and me both!
Thanks for the detailed review. I had never heard of Asvine before but just ordered it because I love the clean design.
Glad I could help!
Yep, the Asvine EF is wetter and smoother making it not as fine, but i think i prefer it for faster stokes. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you're buying pens and, more importantly, making videos
Me too!
Had to check ... couldn't remember if I had the new or old version. It's the old with a (F) Bock nib. I currently have it in my rotation inked with Waterman "Tender Purple". I like everything about this pen. It never ceases to amaze me how several of my less to least expensive pens feel and perform better than my most expensive. This pen is no exception! Cheers!
Thanks for the double review. Nicely done. I will pass on ordering one of these, although it is quite tempting. Good value, nice style, but I will wait.
Glad to help
Great review thanks. Nice design and I must to say I'll take this video for my end of the year wish list. 😁
😊👍✍
I have the P36. I would strongly recommend not to pull the piston and take the shaft off the knob. You risk not being able to completely seal or sit the knob onto the barrel. It took me over an hour to put the blind cap in it's correct position. If you remove the piston, leave it together.
Other than that, this is a very nice pen with a comfortable weight.
Great review, Chris.
ps. The Cypress pen looks phenomenal. I have to investigate it further and looking forward to your review.
Paul please share your piston cap reassembly tips!! I am at a loss getting the cap to thread all the way down to the body and not wiggle after reassembly.
@@cmoorhead1 the piston wiggles no matter is you adjust the piston or not. There is another problem. When you get the piston to fully retract, the knob, when attached to the barrel, has to extend the piston slightly to seal completely.
If you have attempted to adjust the piston, it will wiggle outside of the barrel, but will not once it is inserted in the barrel. You just have to keep repositioning the piston screw into the key that is attached to the knob until you can get the piston to retract completely. It takes patience. I contacted Sally at Asvine and that was all the advice I got - patience and trial and error. Just remember that the piston will extend slightly when you attach the knob completely onto the barrel.
I really like the style of this pen. Thanks for an interesting comparison review.
Glad you like it!
Thanks for the review! One interesting pen is the Jinhao 9019. It has an extra large converter that screws in the section. I ordered one and am waiting for it to arrive.
And the wing sung 630 is also interesting...
Hello,
thanks for this interesting review, seems to be a nice pen! I have a V126 and a p20, fine nibs that I really like.
I am curious, is it possible to unscrew the finial in order to turn the clip so it is aligned with the nib?
Great looking pen, Chris. I have to say the standard Asvine nib would be my choice even if it is more F than EF.
Agreed.
That Majohn V1 looks very interesting! I'm just not sure about the cap. It appears to seal off at the bottom of the pen, which might mean ink can get all over the barrel.
And a freeway of air that must dry the nib, I suppose.
@@MateuMatheu by the pictures it looks like it seals down at the base, which could be sufficient. But I’m more worried about ink leaking all over the pen body.
Is it the Qin Dynasty one? I love that D5 but didn't want to spend that much until I saw a review. Then again, I do also love those obnoxious Jinhao dragon pens so....I ordered the Jinhao 9019. There is only 1 Chinese video on UA-cam so far. It has a HUGE converter and also a #8 nib. Add a lock, it becomes The Club.
I really like the old one, but the cap would almost get stuck and I’d really have to torque it off. I wonder if the new cap ring location fixes that.
No, for me this is not a pen I would post. Some pens just are not good posters.
@@chrisrap52 I meant on the threads when closed. I don’t post my pens either.
I generally torque down my caps so requiring an effort to uncap is OK for me. I'd rather have a cap that doesn't unscrew easily. I have a few that seem to unscrew by themselves.
Is it possible to replace the asvine nib with a Jowo one without further modifications? Is the bock nib unit the regular one? Thanks for the review!
You can replace Bock nib with a Jowo, nib assembly is different. Regular nib is an Asvine nib which I prefer, smoother & wetter.
Yikes, looks like I got the older version. VERY reliable and comfortable. The Bock M nib is so smooth and fast it's a little hard to control.
Chris so can I swap a bock nib and feed unit completely by just unscrewing it?
Sorry I just heard you say you pull it out. Thanks.
Pen style clearly intends to look like the classic Conid pen, which, however, has a different filling mechanism (bulk filler).
Only so many variations. Conid is not unique in their designs. This pen stands out on its own.
@@chrisrap52 True. Not a direct coy, but a clear influence.
So I can buy an Asvine nib and then later change it to Bock nib and feed if I want?
Maybe, try Asvine feed with Bock nib first.
@@chrisrap52 thank you for your advice
BTW ... have you experienced any flow issues with this pen?
No. I use them every day or 2.
Are the nib units interchangable?
Nibs can be swapped, not feeds. Nib unit cannot be removed.
Are the nib collars removable?
Nib assemble can be unscrewed, nib & feed are friction fit & can be pulled out.
Hi Chris! I found your review very interesting and cause for reflection. Remarkable! Considering that the Bock nib should be of German production, that EF stroke compared to the stroke of the squares on your paper, doesn't convince me at all. It is known that the Bock is a stiff nib but this should really make it closer to a western EF nib that doesn't exist. While in the Asvine nib the EF could pass, maybe...
Good point!
笔尖真的好像,只是logo不一样😅
笔尖看起来很相似,但书写方式不同
The most annoying design decision they made was to glue the nib collar.
Its not glued in. Just try a bit harder
Mine leaking
Ink leaking out means air leaking in. Was ink always leaking out? Nib unit & section fully screwed in?
