I had TUSQ XL string trees and Floyd Rose noiseless springs laying around that I threw in mine, then I leveled, crowned and dressed the frets, setup and intonated, plays and sounds fantastic now. I actually enjoyed the neck and middle pickups on my shell pink FFST, but was a little underwhelmed by the humbucker, so once I find a good quality bridge hummer in a trade or Bootstrap restocks their Sweet Serranos, I'll likely be tossing that in. I also changed the output jack with a Pure Tone jack, which I'd highly recommend over Switchcraft, their dual contact points allow for a better connection, and they're made better. So all in all after what I regard as a basic setup, paid for TUSQ XL string trees and noiseless springs, and a 7 USD jack? Makes for a guitar that out the door cost me 204 USD, and it plays filthy good... Can't believe what we get now for the money in the guitar world.
That's crazy!! That's my goal here as well. I'm gonna start leveling the frets, and changing the pickups and output jack.That should make it a pretty killing axe. The tele I got from them will require even less stuff. I'm probably just gonna change the neck pickup on that one, the bridge pickup sounds great!

I have the same white FFST but with an uncovered humbucker. No high frets, tuners all work well, love the neck and fretwork. I lubed the nut and glued a block of wood in front of the trem block to only allow pitch down. It stays in tune great now. I am considering replacing the humbucker. I have never seen a better guitar deal in 41 years of playing and over 40 guitars owned.
I agree man. These “cheap” guitars are the best quality “cheap” guitars Ive ever played. A few upgrades and they play like anything 5x the price

Just unboxed mine this morning. It's almost on par with my Fender Players strat that I sold last year. I've been buying Fireflys for about six years now, they've definitely stepped up their game drastically with these FFSTs. Might have to check out their 338s when they stock a finish I like. Sold a red 338 and a spalted maple 338 that I should have kept. I paid $169 plus $27 shipping for the FFST and it is fantastic!

There’s one for sale locally. I was afraid of uneven frets. Stainless frets are more than you paid for your guitar to have leveled locally. Killer playing and review.

Torrified eastern mahogany body (nyato or nato) is such a better option than basswood or poplar. I have the HH trem Tele maple board, ordered this one in shell pink today.
Pull the string off the binding tuner and give it a few turns until it stops binding. Mine were the same but got cured during string change.
My frets weren't seated in the middle, brass hammer fixed it, leveled n redressed them easily

@@CamiloVelandiaHad to do a lot of work to the Pinky strat once it got here.
The bridge is crap. Mine came delivered with burred knife edges, not good. The MusicLily Gotoh 510 knock off with steel saddles in the big steel block fits but you need to redrill the post holes for the larger 10 mm post inserts. Same was true for the super Tele. The neck heel is very thick so a floating two post bridge is your best bet, I'm floating about 3/32". 4 springs and a Floyd trem stop piston.
Aftermarket pick guards fit but need to be trimmed for that truss rod wheel and for the squared off flat bottom Tele neck pocket.
The fretboard is a 14-in radius so flat pole piece pickups are a necessity. Bootstrap will wind you sets with flat poles or staggered, but trust me staggers are a sonic disaster with this fingerboard radius. I ordered an SSS set of Bootstrap Sun City Selects and have some Mojotone steel baseplates.
I also ordered a Sonic Blue Squier 40th anniversary Strat (on sale!!) as a tonic for all this work the Firefly needed, a set of Bootstrap 54 Sparkles will arrive with those Sun City's, lol. Compared I just had to set it up and file the nut grooves a touch, worth every penny of the $50 more than the Firefly.
Loved the video!! Something I'd change is the string trees for a pair of round-roller kind. I've been watching reviews on these with the intention of buying one. Love the green-purple one... Greetings from the Dominican Republic!

@@zuperdeegive it a try! Theres tons of videos and its a pretty simple process, if you go little by little you’ll be fine. Definitely dont start on an expensive instrument just in case 😜

Hey nice review...I was wondering if there is any room in the body for a p90 in the neck position? Also is it possible to upgrade this pic guard with the truss rod adjustment on the neck? Thnx
Awesome review! Definitely wanting to order one. How does the hardware compare to that of a real Strat? It would be really cool to stick a Vegatrem into it but I'd want to know how well it fits (especially because a vegatrem costs more than the guitar itself haha) Thanks again for the awesome review!
The electronics were fine. I swapped the pickups in mine but left the pots and switch. For some reason on mine, if I do dive bombs the bridge hits the wood in the cavity. Im not much of a dive bomb guy anyway
@@CamiloVelandia ok thanks, I might just have to get my hands on it and see if it's worth the work. New pick ups are probably top priority though. I have a specific tone in mind that these don't cover that well

I own a few Firefly 338's but I've been looking at this strat. Kind of disappointed they haven't come out with a strat with three single coils. Does the humbucker have a coil tap?
It doesnt! But the pickups are something you may end up replacing anyway. Just rewire it to split coil

The screws in the back are used to adjust the tention on the springs for the tremelo.
I have four non strat FireFly guitars (2 LP's 1 Es335 model and an SG model) and yeah, I saw these strats and ordered one with an ash body (it was on sale for $159.00). I only wish I had seen this video first as I HATE slim necks on any guitar!
However, for that price I will most likely swap out the neck and still consider myself lucky.
I mean c'mon, you can't even buy a painted Fender strat body with with nothing on it for less than $259.00. Even replacing the neck...this is a steal!
I must say, that with all the features that FireFly guitars offer, I am surprised that the bigger brand name companies are even able to stay afloat.
Considering all they are really offering these days...is their name.

Thanks man! I agree with you. I have over 50 guitars, and I have a couple guitars by a certain american big name brand with some ridiculous things that shoudlve never gotten past a final inspection. Things in the finish, crappy wiring jobs from the factory. You really pay for the name

Many reviewers complain of microphonic pickups on all Firefly guitars. This can be fixed by Pot Waxing them. But, if they still leave a lot to desire, why bother.
Yeah, I replaced them on mine. As good as any guitar below the $1K range

I nearly got one, but I was reading on reddit about people who had guitars show up with cracked necks an stuff.
I dont work for them, but from what Ive seen on their facebook group, it seems they have good customer service and everyone who had a faulty guitar got a replacement guitar.
Yes and some that bother to get in touch with customer service and send a pic upon delivery are sent a replacement and sometimes told to keep the damaged guitar as well.

Hola bro!!! En mi honesta opinion, le hacen buena pelea a las fenders mexicanas. Ten en cuenta que mi objectivo siempre fue comprarla para modificarla. Despues de terminar este video, la desarme, le nivele los frets (solo le hacia falta un poco en los frets altos.. 13-15. Tambien le cambie los pickups por unos seymour duncans que tenia y un humbucker en el bridge. Tambien le cambie el plug por uno mejor. Todas esas cosas ya las tenia… pero si tuviese que ponerle un valor, el jack me costo como $2…. Tal vez $300 en pickups. Yo mismo la nivele pero un tech puede cobrar $80… en total con el precio de la guitarra se puede decir que inverti menos de $600 en total, y tengo una guitarra que se siente como de $1500 minimo. La telecaster que me mandaron, solamente le cambiare el jack, y el pickup del neck solamente. De resto esta super bien

Hey thanks for your demo and digging your chanel. Would be curious to hear new sound with new pick ups installed, a friend might sell me his guitar - which is same model as this and I’m debating whether to get it. Would be putting barenuckle pick ups in
I added a frankenstein set. Seymour duncan in neck, zexcoil in the middle, and a revstar humbucker. Three pickups I had laying around. The guitar sounds and feels as good as any strat around $1K. The tuners are the weakest link now, I gotta replace those too to make it the best guitar it can be
Nice :) mine is coming in on Wednesday. Thanks for response - if you ever have time to video guitar with new pickups - would be curious. These are very solid guitars - period - let alone for the price. Astounding really. I love the shady experience of the guitar garden online process lol but that’s part of the mystique - don’t know how they do it and makes you wonder why other companies can’t offer similar spec levels at more affordable prices. Love your playing - by the way. A new guitar player - and your channel has been inspiring me to play and learn more - so thank you.

I am going to put Bare Knuckle Triptych Single Coil strat picks up in (rabea massaad new collab) and see how they sound, although I am tempted to throw a humbucker in as well. From my what I gather - Rabea pick up seems pretty dynamic so I think I will try them first and really go for that single coil strat magic. I agree about tuning pegs - I also have a tele (replaced with pure 64 vintage tele picks up) from them too and am not the biggest fan - and will probably replace on both guitars soon. These are exceptional value guitars and are great as project instruments too..
Which pickups would you recommend for it?
I have a couple Seymour duncans that Im gonna throw in there. I like Zexcoil pickups for noiseless singles and I love their humbuckers are well. Texas specials are cool too
How heavy is it? I hear the Relics they have are like 9 lbs. those are Ash bodies.

Good review!!! I can't understand why Firefly concentrate on producing cheap-end guitars when they obviously can produce higher-quality guitars? As you say, you are going to upgrade pickups etc etc. Why don't Firelfly do a high-class quality guitar? Most of the reviews point towards that as a need.

I want a HSS white strat and this seems to have it all. Wow. Need to sell my HB fusion t which i hate to as its kick arse aside from it being tele shape HH. I wanted to try the fusion line and at the time only had the tele shape. Hah. Anyway. I need to figure out a sale locally and see about one of these and maybe pickups.
I replaced the pickups on my firefly strat and now it kills!!!!
