But I think the assement of this year ought to be tempered with a serious look at our injury luck (or lack thereof). There was a period where we were losing at least one player a week this year and that can't be good for a rebuilding team under a first-year coach, with players in and out of the team all the time. In spite of that, we managed to stay competitive against some of the best teams in the league, knocking off four finals teams (including a top 4 team.) Even amongst the top 4, the only team that beat us comfortably was Geelong, who are capable of doing that to pretty much everyone (and if I recall correctly we were actually in front at quarter time.) Clearly the raw ability is there, so I think the problem with our club is more of a mental one. It's possible that for our list, the pressure this year was a new experience. Born in 97 into a Carlton family, been a member since I turned 18. I felt like Malthouse was the wrong the hire, we were too early to fire Bolton and Teague was the wrong hire. A lot of it seemed to come across as money saving moves from the board which was very disappointing. Very glad that we cleared some of the board out. I think that Voss is most definitely the man to lead us to the future and I hope he has the same impact that Beveridge has at the Dogs. 2022 is going to most definitely be an exciting year but I’m not expecting us to go blazing into finals straight away. Just also wanted to say we were happy to let Kennedy go for Judd back then because he was having to play behind Fev and Waite, we thought those 2 would be at the club a lot longer than they did but I’m happier we have McKay playing the way he is now.
The problem with Carlton was, their past under the late Jack Elliott was a culture of buying flags, they forgot how to build a side from youth. Their last three flags were check book premierships. If Richmond and Melbourne in recent years can get it right as a Carlton supporter I can hope that the blues can finally get back where we once were. But there's a lot of things the club has to get right. The board needs to be united and all agree on the direction it's going. Voss is our coach now and the club has to back him in we can't sack him if things are looking bad. Melbourne and Richmond could have easily sacked their coach before their drought breaking premierships but they backed them in and they ended up winning flags. There is hope for Carlton but the club needs to change it's culture if they can't change our culture then there's no hope.
As a dyed in the wool Blue Bagger this video is a tough watch but almost entirely fair. The old saying is that the fish rots from the head and poor leadership begets poor culture, which begets poor results. Last year was a massive step forward and several of our best players had outstanding years. To miss out on finals by a point in the last round was dreadful. That said, we could have one that and three prior games and none of it would have been an issue. We need to be a no excuses footy club and 2023 must see us push on to September. BTW, I'm glad Ross Lyon didn't come to the club. He coaches anti-football that everyone is poorer for watching. The way he expected to have the job handed to him without due process spoke poorly of him.
Stephen Silvagni picks weren't always perfect, (Dow, O'Brien) but his return was one of the best things that happened to the club. The other great thing to occur was getting rid of that criminal Liddle!
I’m a blues fan myself and was a mess of a club for 2 decades making lots of poor decisions by sacking trading out players to be great at other clubs, I’d say the 2021 off season was the best thing that’s happened in recent memory
Something to think about: look at Carlton vs Collingwood since this millennium, Collingwood is often (not always) playing finals, while Carlton is not. But what separates them? 1 premiership.....only 1. While Carlton fans suffer agonising season results, Collingwood fans suffer from coming agonisingly close to a Premiership and.....lose some may say Choke. Look at the time between 1958 and 1990, 8 Grand Final losses and how many Prelim losses? Since 2000 5 Grand Final appearances and a string of Prelim appearances for 1 premiership......I know it hurts to not even play finals for Carlton fans, but it also hurts getting so close and losing at one of the final hurdles. I still haven't fully gotten over 2018 and 2019......I'm not saying that our pain is worse, because it isn't....But it still hurts a lot.
Finally after years of heartbreak, the blues are in finals, up and about

Another great video here Jagger! Be great if you could do a video on my Swannies sometime! Keep up the great work!
Ur a legend I go for the blues and ur one of my favourite youtubers good to see this and I love the tittle 😉
Great video, heartbreaking to watch as a carlton fan
After all this time we have the side to Go on nrxt 5 ,10 yearsc .
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Well done immaculate presentation and depth fantastic job your potential is unlimited 👍
here after the game against the pies last night...maybe next year
As a dyed in the wool Blue Bagger this video is a tough watch but almost entirely fair.
Love your vids mate.
Stephen Silvagni picks weren't always perfect, (Dow, O'Brien) but his return was one of the best things that happened to the club. The other great thing to occur was getting rid of that criminal Liddle!
Dow will be good if they dive him a Janice he has been killing it in the vfl and obrien is having is best year by far
Needs another follow up
I’m a blues fan myself and was a mess of a club for 2 decades making lots of poor decisions by sacking trading out players to be great at other clubs, I’d say the 2021 off season was the best thing that’s happened in recent memory
Another video!
My grandfather goes for Carlton and always waiting for one magical finals run to bring Carlton back to their all glory, but it never happens.
Thanks for this video keep em coming bro 👌👌
Don't barrack for Carlton, don't particularly like them but bloody hell that was a brilliant video. Now I remember why I subbed, quality 👌
Video perfectly sums up carlton
At least you’ve gotten close rather than seeing your club being in the bottom 6 for almost every year in the 2000s
The Last bit got me excited
Great content as always mate.
In pain. Who’s here after the worst loss in my lifetime
me
@@AceRememberTheDude 😞
So close… so damn close…
@@seven7264we finally made it back!! So happy 🥹
Please Make a video on the Colliwobbles period
So good
This was brilliant!
Update. Carlton has just lost its sixth straight game and now sitting 4 wins, 1 draw and 8 losses in 2023.
Already looking past Michael Voss.
Update. Carlton are into a prelim final.
God rewatching this in 2023 with Carlton comfortably in the bottom 4 is so sad
The future is bright my friend 😊
There’s a lot of drought breaking premierships. Just in the last twenty years we’ve had the Swans, Western Bulldogs, and now the Melbourne demons
Not to mention West Coast twice. Those 12 year droughts are both the equal longest in the club's history!
Shut up at least it’s good to see you suck this year
You should do a video like this on how Melbourne Victory have completely nosedived since winning the Grand Final in 2018
Very sharp well done thank Christ we are 3 from 3
