I just got mine today and so far I've been able to scan a rubber duck, a beer can (misted with alc and talc powder) and a crazy mask I made in grade 9 art 20+ years ago. The quality has exceeded my expectations. Plan on upgrading if you like lots of triangles. 7950x and 64gb, rtx4090. Need more ram.

I just bought this scanner and have scan small object well and have been really impressed with it but I bought with intent to scan some larger object such as the side of my boat (less than 10ft) to get the decals. I have large object and low res select but the scan has no color, the decals cannot be seen, is it because i selected large object with low res? Any reason I cannot scan constrasting colors?
Would you make sure you select "color" or "texture" setting at the beginning? For large object, you may need to separate into 2 or 3 projects, and then you can combine them. If you need more help, please contact us directly at info@umax.com
Hello, this is a handheld scanner and is designed to operate it with hand holding. If you want, you can put the object on a turntable. Then you can hold the scanner (by your hand) to scan the object while rotating the turntable manually. But if you can find a "bracket" which can hold the Einstar scanner, you may use it with Tripod (similar to Einscan line's Fix scan mode).
At indoor, regular room light is fine. If outdoor, it works too but you will need to adjust the scanner's brightness setting according to the current sunlight
The scanner in the video does have port for connecting a tripod. You need to remove the rubber shell surrounding the scanner, then you'll see a small plug that's covering the tripod hole. You can see it demo'd here: ua-cam.com/video/gasGTDId3XU/v-deo.html
So you paused the scan... flipped the basket over... then it just immediately switched to the next scene. How on Earth did you manage to get the scan lined-up once the basket was flipped over?
Hello, when we flipped, we actually started the scan from the area which we've done scanning earlier (before the flip). That's why the scanner can recognize where it is. In the other words, in between the flips, they must share some same common area.
Yes that's right. For big flat surface area, it's essential to apply some markers so the scanner can capture these data. When you scan with marker alignment, the scanner usually has better accuracy. Each scan shot from scanner needs to see at least 4 makers a time. Each marker should be about 1~2 inch apart each other.
I think you're asking how to rollback the previous scanned state during the current project. For doing this, there is no other way. If you would like to scan something challenged, you should always save a copy of the current project first. If it doesn't work out, you then can go back to the previous saved project to start over.
@@umax2639 No? I'm scanning my objects. I have a couple scans in my project. Once I got past the first scan the cutting plane button is greyed out. You can't use it. I can use the lasso and other tools to delete data but not the cutting plane tool. Why?
You can click on the "X" to remove the cutting plane tool session when it becomes inactive. And then you can click the cutting plane tool button when you want to use it again.

However, when i connect the wire to my laptop, the bottom LED immediately turns red and the device begins connecting and disconnecting. The shining 3D EXstar will not recognize the scanner either, it just shows online. Please help!

My Einstar refuses to scan even though there are markers and I'm noticing that the ring of light doesn't go on. I click the up or down arrows and it zooms in instead of increasing or decreasing brightness. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, at this video of 7:49, you will see the right tool bar. After you finish the scan, you will continue to click on "mesh" button. After that, you can click on "Save" button which is the top second button on the right side tool bar. It will save as STL format which is very standard in the industry.
You will need to finish "Mesh" process within Einstar software and then you can save data as stl. In mesh process, you can choose either watertight or unwatertight.
Hi thank you for the video. i have a problem i wrote to shine3d bit i never got a reply... When I click on create project it takes 3 to 5 minutes to do it. I tried with 2 different computers i7 32gb Nvidia and xeon 32gb Nvidia and is the same very slow to crate the project. Any suggestions please?
Hi, there are several reasons for this slow performance. First of all, please make sure you make the Nvidia video as primary default video processor. Usually the computer uses Intel on board video as default and it makes the performance slow when you do 3d scanning. Second, it may be something to do with your application. Please let us know how large of your object and what material. If possible, send us a photo and we can evaluate it for you. Sometimes incorrect scanning setting may cause the slow scan. Shining3d tech support usually respond within 24 hours. They may be off during the weekend. If you have your support ticket number, please let me know and we can push the response for you. Best regards
Hello I'm keen on using this scanner for environmental scans. I work as a handyman and I scan the environment using an ipad and then build a digital version of what I plan on building. would this scanner be suitable for this?
This scanner can scan big objects like a car bumper but the speed would be slow due to its limitation. It also requires markers if the most surfaces are flat. The environmental objects you are talking about may be like a whole room. If that's the case, this scanner is not suitable for you. If the object you're scanning is over 10ft, it would be very difficult.
Is it true that Shining 3d will not play nice with AMD Radeon based graphics? if so, I will have to consider Creality Otter. I can not seem to find any definitive certainty on this subject, no responce from Shining 3d as of yet. Not sure how to expect the customer support or information inquiries from the company.
Hi, if your scanner failed the calibration, it is a big issue. First of all, check your calibration board has many scratches or not. The calibration board needs to be kept very cleaned. And then follow the correct procedure to perform calibration. If you still have any problem, please don't hesitate to contact Einscan tech support immediately and those experts will help you very quickly.
