The homie installing it was high AF 💨 😆😆
Hi Carlos, thanks for watching the video. Definitely recommend these guys.
He did a good job though 🤷♂️
@@The1JBanks yes he definitely did!!!
@@The1JBanksSome people function better high 🤷
Great looking rig. It's hard to believe Ford underestimated the demand for the Maverick so badly.
If only they put a 6ft bed on this truck it would be even better imo
@@dacoldest3896Maybe if it was single cab. 6ft and double cab might be a bit demanding for the power train.
@@TheGamersRace it has a very good payload for being so small. They'd only need to decrease the payload a little. That said, many people buy this because it's the perfect size for them. Nobody will ever made everyone happy.
@@veganpotterthevegan The payload isn't that good at all, and I'm talking about reliability and handling with such a long vehicle and this powertrain. It will do a lot more than most realize.
@TheGamersRace like I said, they'd lower the payload. A 1500lb payload is really great for such a dinky truck. It's more than the regular cab, old Ranger which was body on frame.
Looks good, I like how the camper windows flow with the truck as if it was supposed to be part of the truck from factory.
Congrats on your bed topper. I’ve been waiting 10 months for my truck !
Thank you, sorry you have to wait so long but it will be well worth it
From the outside the camper shell looks great. Can't believe that wire in the back left corner is so long. Seems like they should've either shortened it or routed it inside the left wall of the bed. I would probably snag that wire on something eventually.
Only watched to see those blacket out steelies. I'm definitely gonna do a shiney gloss black instead
Finally a video on this!!
Yes sir! Thank you!
Well congrats you know have an SUV.
Yes thank you very much. The nice thing is that its a convertible SUV.
Bought a 2024 Oxford white xlt with black appearance package. Absolutely love it. I’ve been Toyota, Lexus my whole life. 56 years old. Big change I was nervous about. Absolutely no regrets. I love my maverick. Wife will stick with her Lexus though. lol. Your truck looks great with the cap.
Man, that is SUPER nice looking! Congrats!
Really want this truck and topper. Hope they become more available soon
I hope so too because Ford is losing alot of money, especially since they can produce to supply high demand
Looks so good
Nice. Thanks for showing how those side windows operate.
Love the video. It turned out really good. Your truck looks awesome! Thanks for posting!
Thank you guys very much! Will definitely be recommending your services to my friends and family.
Great looking top and truck.
Looks nice...I'd like to get one for my Maverick..
Yes I highly recommend
Just received my new canopy. Instead of 8 weeks (canopy guy said) it took 35 weeks. Nice looking canopy, but because I haul around my 18.5 ft kayak, I needed racks. The only racks that fit (b/c it slopes up) was a Thule system that puts the crossbars 26 in. apart. Now to put a matching rack on the front of the truck cab, it would have to be 10 in. high. REALLY annoyed that after spending CAD $5,500.00 it doesn't do what I wanted it too. Of course this is the canopy that's made for the Maverick. However, they installed the lights and stuff, and they did a really good job of attaching the chords so they don't randomly stick out. Again, love the canopy, hate the racks.
Looks great !
Thank you very much!
Man you could put a bed back there and get a heater to plug in and sleep in the truck lol
Outstanding video! Great combination. At some point, thinking about the Maverick (hybrid) as a daily driver. Plus, it is flat towable, so will consider using it as a dinghy with a small motorhome.
Looks great thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you very much!
Man now I want a cap on the Maverick I ordered a year ago and still don't have.
I could kiss you brother! This is the video I’ve been waiting for! Thank you!
Thanks my friend. I’m thinking about making a second video more like a review and showing a bit more details about the canopy features
@@frankshandymanservice perfect! I own a home inspection and pest control business and we are waiting on our Maverick
I may do this canopy down the road as well and also good to know a local place where to get it done. I thought I recognized the spot you were filming at, I've seen Bob's whenever I passed that spot on TV hwy.
wow I'm glad you did this video because my maverick has the rear window and if I get the canopy it's useless. I wanted the canopy to go camping but I can see it's hard to install so it's not gonna be easy if I ONLY want it on some times :(
Yes and actually the bulkhead window inside the canopy that is up against the cabin can be completely removed
@@HazloTuMismoEnTodo Thank you for the information! Maybe I should wait for an aftermarket canvas one easy to remove or a collapsible one 👍
Softoppers are great for this reason
when ordering my maverick, can i check that box and have the dealer install ?
@@jeffdean7623 I think if you check the box they will install it from factory but you can order it at the dealer and they can install it, but they will charge a fee
replace the top washers with a flat piece of metal that covers more than that round washer. 🤔 I can see that going through the fiberglass eventually. js
Do you get rain water in your cab entering in between the rear window of your truck and your canopy? I ask the question because the maverick is a unibody construction and there is no gap between rear cab and the front cab for water to escape.
Nice job looks great my question does the window bulkhead open and clothes if you had a slider in the cab
Yes the window bulkhead opens up and can be removed to access the slider or window in the cabin. Great feature to clean the cabin window as well
great video
Thank you!
I like this canopy. I just got my Maverick XLT 2024 and I would like to install this. Please let me know where you get it. Thanks
Looks great!.. thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! Appreciate the comment
Dude awesome video just subscribed!
Are they drilling through the plastic trim on the side of the bed?
Looks great! I ordered my xlt hybrid last November and I don’t think I will get in 2022
Same here
Wow that is a long wait, but it will be well worth it. Very happy for you
strikes me as odd it has a front window, had a topper 20 years ago that was gasketed to the cab, no window, no leaks
Nice truck. But that’s an expensive canopy for a stroller 😂
Is this an after market canopy or is this the snug top one sold through ford?
I'd be upset with that finish. Either its not installed right or its a poor design. The side view shows the front with a large gap that is not the same as the rear if you look at the glass line. It looks like the top front of the fiberglass was supposed to match up with the lines in the truck but again the front appears to be lifted. Maybe it didn't need to have the doubled up insulation in the front?
I have the same thoughts. Here's how it's supposed to look. ua-cam.com/video/2O55vtKuals/v-deo.html
Spyder000069 I was thinking the same thing. That would drive me crazy to look at everyday with my mild OCD. 😂
I like everything about it but the mounting hardware, those brackets on the bottom stick out too far.
Can this topper be locked from the inside?
Wait… what if you have a slide window in your rear window? I want to be able to heat the bed..or to cool it. Is there a version with a sliding window so that both the cabin and the bed have some sort of air transfer? And why do they have to make the top canopy higher than the truck? Can't they make them flush to the truck? So it could finaly look like an suv
Hi Reef, I will soon make another video that shows all the features of this canopy with more detail. The interior window that is up against the cabin area actually can be removed so you can easily clean the cabin window but I wouldn’t recommend to not put it back. As far as the canopy roof being higher, I think they designed it that way so you have more cubic square feet of usable space, especially since the maverick truck bed is quite small compared to a normal truck.
Was it cheaper getting this from a 3rd party dealer than getting it from Ford directly?
Does yours have a gap on the rear window on the corners if you angle it right you can see a big hole
Are they drilling holes in your bed rail to install?
If you watch the video they did drill 4 holes to attach the canopy on to the truck bed
I wonder if this will add to the gas mileage. Figure the resistance in the back will be reduced.
Bed caps do absolutely nothing to increase mpg. Remember your adding weight to your truck aswell so the mpg gain won't do anything. I've tested my truck before and after adding a shell and it made zero difference on mpg. Also factor I. That the average shell will cost 2k plus depending upon options. How much fuel can be bought for 2k before you break even on even a 1mpg gain?
More drag and more weight will make worse! Its middle school physics dude.
I wonder how the mpg is with the canopy.
Hi Jimmy, I noticed right away that it went down a few miles per gallon. I’m going to keep track of it and will keep you guys posted on a more accurate number in the future. To me it’s definitely worth it though
@@frankshandymanservice Cool, thanks for the answer. I'm kinda curious to know if its weight, or if at highway speeds it causes more drag.
They should have just made this truck an SUV with the rear seats able to fold down and have an 8 ft bed.
Basically a truck but the bed is part of the cabin.
They do in other countries it's called the Everest but here in North America we get the bronco sport so technically you can buy that
Seems like you could not wash the back window 🤔
what's the affect on milage?!!!
I think I lost about 3mpg but I didn’t do a very extensive test.
Problem with these is they need foam to seal them and tend to leak but better than nothing
What's the cost of the topper?
How much gas mileage did you lose by putting a canopy on?
1 billion
A little pricey but looks great
Yes, to me it was worth ever penny. Plus I included in the total financing so will pay it off easy over time
How much was the bed topper.?
The bed topper cost me $2,350 including installation
Where did you order your canopy cover ?
I ordered it thru Bob Top Canopies of Beaverton Oregon
Why didn't they make the topper the same height as the truck it looks terrible not being the same height as the Maverick are you sure that is made for your truck
How much was the cap sir
Total cost including install was $3,250
Thanks for showing. I was considering this truck, but now I see how bad this canopy looks I will pass. Why would they design this to be so ugly and non streamlined. Ridiculous . Awful !
The rearview left side gap looks horrible.
you have a baby and bought a small truck with no rear air vents??? wow
Yes sir, I mostly use this truck for work. I have and use a minivan for the family. Thanks for watching
Why didn't you just put a tonneau cover If all you wanted to do was keep your stuff dry?
Keeping stuff dry is one thing. I also need extra space for a few strollers and other things so the tonneau cover would be no good. Thanks for watching
Quite pricey @ ~$3250.....oooofff!
It's a topper
Why
I don't like the looks of it. I hate the way it's jacked up. I think I would like it more streamlined with the truck. It looks like a bad impression of an ugly pt cruiser, and I used to want one of those. Lol. Sorry to each his own, enjoy it.
why not make your own..at that price
If I knew how and had the time, that wouldn’t be a bad idea. Thanks for commenting
You don't see too many homemade camper shells, would make the truck look ghetto.
@@camaroman101 Exactly, there is an old Nissan D series I see driving around my area that has one, it has so many waves and makes it look really really bad.
I never understood the point of getting a canopy on a truck. If you want that why not just get an SUV...
You can't take the top off of an suv and haul something taller or wider.
@scupking: To keep your stuff dry. To keep it more secure. To haul stuff without having to strap it down and blowing out. Lots of reasons! 🙄
Buy an SUV.
ugly vs uglier
HI FRANK,. 1ST : ENOUGH WITH THE FAKAKTA MUSIC!! I KEEP THINKING THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS DRIVING BY MY HOUSE!! 2ND : UH, FRANK?? DID YOU MENTION THE PRICE OF THE CAP, WITH INSTALLATION, AND I JUST MISSED IT?? ( be kinda nice to know, ya know?? ) 3RD : I'VE GOTTA ADMIT, IT'S A DAMN NICE LOOKING, VERY STYLISH CAP!! AND THE REAR OPENING WINDOW LOOKED SOLID!! AND THE PAINT LOOKED FACTORY QUALITY, AND THE COLOR MATCH PERFECT!! AND THE INSULATED HEADLINER WAS NICE TOO!! 4TH : IT. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE FRONT WINDOW HAD A SLIDER BUILT IN, SO IF THE TRUCK HAD A REAR SLIDING WINDOW ( I think that's an option?? ) YOUR BACK SEAT PASSENGER COULD REACH BACK INTO THE BED, AND GRAB YOU A "COLD ONE"!! AND WHILE IT'S NICE THAT THE SIDE WINDOWS CRANK OPEN A LITTLE, AND HAVE BUILT-IN SCREENS, WHICH WILL HELP KEEP THE INSIDE OF THE BED COOLER, IT'S TOO BAD THEY DON'T OPEN FARTHER, SO YOU COULD LOAD STUFF THROUGH THEM!! OTHERWISE, NICE CAP, GOOD INSTALL!!! THANKS FRANK!! CHAS ORVIS, PLAINVILLE, CT.
