ocn14s yes he was always very highly regarded at Liverpool. Hard to believe a bloke of his caliber only played 17 times for England in a period during which they never qualified for the World Cup. He was behind Trevor Brooking in the England pecking order.

They all contributed and with players like Neal and Kennedy - and even Hansen driving forward, McDermott and Souness chipping in, thy were difficult to keep quiet. I was at this game a journey and a half,the car I was travelling in broke down 3 times but it was well worth it. the CSKA game the following year Liverpool won the 1st leg 1-0 the second leg in sofia was a disgrace never mind brucie's mistake the referee was a joke Ian rush scored early on yards over the line the referee ruled it out because he thought it had not.Bob Paisley said after the game it was the worst piece of officiating in his footballing career. The referee's name Franz Wohrer.
