Born in ‘66 and feel that I was blessed to have grown up when I did. My friends and I had our bikes, our imaginations, and unlimited ideas on things to do for fun. Saturday mornings were pure magic with cartoons and cereal commercials. Who here remembers pestering your mom to let you buy every box of cereal that had a prize in it?
Lol. I used to make my mom buy all kinds of cereals just for the prizes, and then never ate half of them. That used to piss her off so much! Good times
Lol so true about the prizes. My sister and I did the same just for the prizes. My Dad finally ended that when my sister insisted on King Vitamin with the secret decoder ring; the cereal was awful but my sister had to finish the box 🤣
Yup, we entertained ourselves often with a stick and a ball. Oftentimes the girls would be playing with a hula hoop...and or a slinky...lol Give me a skate board....my inner child is coming out....thank you for jarring the memories from within. 🍻
We were lucky in the DFW Metroplex area we had ch. 4 cbs, 5 nbc, 8 abc, 11 independent & 13 pbs plus 21, 27 & 33 were added in 1979. Ch. 11 is cbs now & ch. 4 is Fox.
We got the TV roll about 1 if it was sometime we played outside if it was winter time we played board games Bet some kids are saying what about video games

Oh yes!!!! My little brother would wake up before anyone to watch. One Saturday my mom found a trail of Kraft cheese wrappers leading to my brother..... The outcome was constipation.
I was born in 1966 and my mother wasn’t rich but my childhood was filled with love, friends and fun! Lots of adventures and limitless amounts of discovery. Never boring and never judged, just a kid being a kid.

What amazes me is how many of these trigger memories that have been hiding in my brain for nearly 60 years. Don't those brain cells have better things to do? Thankfully, no.. Seriously, some of these are bringing tears to my eyes. Saturday mornings were a safe time.
Yes you are right. All children got Ipads and cell phones now (so they can watch porn, scary and violent movies). 5 year old children in first grade. Parents must know where you are all the time. What a nightmare.
I'm 58 and that feels like yesterday. That was American life during that time. It gave kids a day to let loose. Right after the cartoons we had to clean our room.
Remember the anticipation of the Fall Premiere issue of TV Guide so we could see what cartoons were coming? Now Saturdays are just the day after Friday and the day before Sunday. Friday night's were cool, too, with Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, Laverne & Shieley, etc. There were only 3 TV channels (besides PBS if you could get that friggin' round antenna to work) and that was on clear days. We'd go to school on Monday and everybody would talk about the same shows. Sigh. Now I have to go listen to "Old Days" by Chicago.
According to today's young people, my generation didn't have much in the way of entertainment, but this video just reran the memories of my childhood and early teenage years via sugary cereal commercials, Saturday morning cartoons and many of the toys and games my brother and I played together. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable trip back to simpler times. I wouldn't trade those years for anything our current times have to offer.
I was born in 64. Watching this mix reminded me how glad I am to have been a kid in the late 60s and 70s. The 80s were also great. I had a smile on my face the whole time.
I was born in 64 too! TV and Entertainment was so much better in those days from late 60's through the 70's. My first favorite cartoon was either Kimba The White Lion or Speed Racer, not wither I don't think was mentioned.
The magical morning, when the kids took over the TV. Then after the cartoons. We bolted outside. And didn't stop till dark. Or the street lights came on. . No video games, most telephone lines were party lines. Fishing,trapping and baseball kept my attention.

I can remember this space in time vividly. I was born in 1970. The best memories of my life. My parents were gems. I remember the fantastic food, the family trips, television programming, and the wonderful music. I will never forget, I often wish one could time travel. I was born in 64 and these are all my old shows growing up. It wasn't a good weekend without H.R. Pufnstuf. I loved that show! Such a simple and fun time. It seems like just yesterday.
Born in '64 also. Do you remember "Speed Racer" and "Clutch Cargo". Noone worried about the plastic guns, either. My mom was pregnant with me when JFK was assassinated. It was a more simple, yet fun time with Sat A. M. cartoons & commercials.
I loved this time in my life. I felt safe and secure. No worries or stress. I enjoyed my bicycle, roller skating, my pets, climbing trees, and playing with matchbox cars. I was a bit of a tomboy. All these shows I watched and loved. Thanks for putting this together. 😁
I was born in 1960 and was fortunate enough to experience it all along with the 70’s & 80’s. Life was so good back then. As a kid you think it’ll always be this way and then reality bites hard and your all grown up and trying to make your way in a much changed world. Remember - playing tag - hide and go seek - riding a bike without a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads - sitting in the back of a pickup truck on the highway basically, just having fun being a kid.

When I got home, my ass found the wrong side of a 6 inches by 18 inches piece of hard oak. My daddy called it “The Educator”. It taught me some very valuable lessons back in 1973. I wasn’t “Educated” very often, probably 5 or 6 times in my childhood. I took a different approach to my kids. I took things away. The Gameboy or PlayStation was replaced by a book to read. Then they had to tell me what the book was about.
Dick Morhead my friend broke the chain on his Huffy, going downhill about 35mph. We were hauling ass racing each other when I heard his 10 year old, high pitch scream (like a girl😳). He broke his wrist and ankle when he crash landed at the bottom. The rest of the summer in casts. We laugh about it today. Our kids look at us like we’re nuts, laughing at broken bones, scrapes, road rash, etc.

Yup (minus the Star Spangled Banner: that would've been odd to see in Canada...) and the first shows to come on on my channels were the old Filmation Hercules or Wizard of Oz cartoon shorts; Looney Tunes was towards the end of the morning).
Yes, I used to get up early to catch the cartoons so I wouldn't miss a single one! I used to get around 5:30 or 6 :00 am (I forget which time) to watch "Hercules". I believe Johnny Nash sang the theme song to it. It came on KCOP channel 13 in LA over the antenna. We lived in northern SD county but our antenna got good to great reception. We usually got 12 of the 13 channels on our TV dial! We were able to watch all the LA and San Diego channels plus 2 Mexican stations. Channels: 2 KCBS, 4 KNBC, 5 KTLA, 6 XETV Mex., 7 KABC, 8 KFMB, 9 KHJ , 10 KOGO, 11 KTTV, 12 TJ, Mex., Station, 13 KCOP. That was BC (Before Cable) when, you know TV reception was free!
Breakfast was a bowl of fruity pebbles so I can get it during commercials. Lol... Unless I was at my Grandma's, then she'd make eggs, grits, broiled buttered toast, sausage/bacon, with Nesslie Quick chocolate milk.

So true Jeff, miss my parents too as well as that huge console TV in the living room that also had speakers, a turntable and radio. I'm 54 years old and I stopped watching Saturday mornings cartoons after 6th grade...just about the time I stopped trick or treating on Halloween but I fondly remember those Saturday mornings. I never noticed that they have stopped showing Saturday morning cartoons!....that's a tragedy for young people. ...of course nowadays you have "cartoon netwook" and "nikolodeon" which play cartoons 24/7 so maybe that explains the demise of Saturday morning cartoons on the Big Three Networks.

My brother,sister and I and our friends played outside almost all day.....only went inside to eat lunch and use the restroom........we played until we were called in for dinner. We loved Saturday morning cartoons. I had a Casper talking doll. Also had some of the games shown. Did you by chance ever play an outside night game called Spot? Kind of like Hide n Seek, with a flashlight. We played with our cousins and friends in the 60's. What memories.....being a child and teenager in the 60's

I just want the good parts back. I could have done with out the divorce and moving every friggin year, and the social problems that resulted from always being 'the new kid'. Too many rules and restrictions as a child too. Objectively, it wasn't that great.
A bygone era. I grew up with Saturday morning TV. Shows like Bug Bunny/Road Runner, Schoolhouse Rock, Land of the Lost, Fat Albert, and so much more. This video showed some things I haven't thought of in decades-- In the News, Shazam, etc. And of course there were kids commercials for things like cereal (I loved Frankenberry and Boo Berry) and toys. Lite Brite was my favorite toy. I'd use one today if I could find one!!
OMG!! This really brings back the memories!! I was lucky enough to be raised in the 60's and the 70's, and there was never a better time to grow up!! Half of that stuff we either watched or received as Christmas gifts! That was the best time to grow up! We grew up on a farm so we had to get up an hour earlier on Saturday morning so we could do our chores before the shows started, and there was Saturday Movie Matinee to look forward to! Has anyone notice how fat kids are now, and the kids that grew up in the 90's? All day playing video games, and not doing any chores. We watch Saturday cartoon, but then we had to clean house, then go outside to play, and ride out bikes, so we were more physically active. We also had strict parents back then, so we had to clean, take out the trash etc. Now the kids play video games all day and talk back to their parents under a dirty pile of clothes with a half empty plate and flies hovering on the plate. I don't allow the 🐂. Slap them silly.

The Friday nights when my Mom would make a banana cake for dessert were the best, because Saturday morning, armed with my blanket and a pillow I would hit the floor before the sun came up and start my cartoon watching, along with a chevy-sized hunk of Mom's cake. Still my strongest childhood memory. I had the entire morning planned, a show on this channel, change channels for the next show, etc. etc. By the time I got to American Bandstand or the Young People's Concerts on CBS I knew it was time to go outside and get my bike.

I have a 14 year old and two adult kids in their 30’s, we did our best to protect our youngest from all the garbage of the 2000’s, but it’s scary now a days for kids, it seems that they have to grow up so fast. I tell my 14 year old, enjoy being a kid cuz it doesn’t last forever. Enjoy being young.
This is what life was all about. Real things to do other than playing video games and having our nose buried in our phones, not speaking to one another. Kids today should watch this and see what it was like back in the days.
I second that there was a time when kids played on a baseball field or football field basketball court and when you got sent to your room there was no TV there was no internet there were no video games there were no computers a bat a baseball and lucky if you had a transistor radio otherwise it was you if you had a brother bunk beds and that was it

The suburban street I lived on in the 70's was filled with rockets, guns, sharp toys and dangerous wheeled vehicles. And not a helmet nor lawsuit in sight.
So now many of us are pre-diabetic or diabetic, depends on where one's A1C sits at most of the time, many just want medications to take care of this, when truly we can do it without them. Many are addicted to their smart phones, they are constantly quenching our thirsts for media and entertainment and as for the toys that we play with now, can be mechanical, can also be psychedelic. Whatever we choose, awareness is the key of their benefits or subtractions to our lives.
Some of these TV SHOWS were so much fun watching as a child growing up in Australia. A lot of it was OUT THERE for back then. Yet not, for the young child has a wonderful & wide imagination. Thanks for this, it was fun strolling down memory lane.
I wish I could go back to this time... I never realized how wonderful it was. And my Parents made this all happen. I love and miss them! Maybe one day, we all get to go back to a glorious time in our life....🥴 ✝
I know how you feel. Although I love my son, niece & nephews along with my surviving brothers I often feel envious that my mom will see all our love ones in a few years. Don’t get me wrong, she’s fine but in her 80’s. I feel like she’s waited so long to see my brother & sister, my dad & her parents. She’s had a lot of loss but is the strongest person I know 💋

And Mario, remember the Christmas concerts we used to host for our parents in those days? We would dress up in campy Christmas costumes and sing carols for our parents. Schools weren't afraid of celebrating Christmas back then. Now it violates the separation of Church and State.
I remember when the Grinch cartoon premiered-- December 18, 1966. I was so looking forward to it. But I got really sick singing in my church's Christmas program earlier in the day and was sent straight to bed once we got home. The TV room was next to my bedroom, and I could hear the Grinch on the TV but couldn't watch it :(

We got Davey and Goliath on Sundays, along with Gumby and Pokey. We didn't much like them, but that was IT for kids' shows on Sundays. Claymation was pretty cool though.

I'm 58 and that feels like yesterday. That was American life during that time. It gave kids a day to let loose. Right after the cartoons we had to clean our room.
Remember the anticipation of the Fall Premiere issue of TV Guide so we could see what cartoons were coming? Now Saturdays are just the day after Friday and the day before Sunday. Friday night's were cool, too, with Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, Laverne & Shieley, etc. There were only 3 TV channels (besides PBS if you could get that friggin' round antenna to work) and that was on clear days. We'd go to school on Monday and everybody would talk about the same shows. Sigh. Now I have to go listen to "Old Days" by Chicago.

According to today's young people, my generation didn't have much in the way of entertainment, but this video just reran the memories of my childhood and early teenage years via sugary cereal commercials, Saturday morning cartoons and many of the toys and games my brother and I played together. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable trip back to simpler times. I wouldn't trade those years for anything our current times have to offer.

The magical morning, when the kids took over the TV. Then after the cartoons. We bolted outside. And didn't stop till dark. Or the street lights came on. . No video games, most telephone lines were party lines. Fishing,trapping and baseball kept my attention.

Born in '64 also. Do you remember "Speed Racer" and "Clutch Cargo". Noone worried about the plastic guns, either. My mom was pregnant with me when JFK was assassinated. It was a more simple, yet fun time with Sat A. M. cartoons & commercials.

I was born in 1960 and was fortunate enough to experience it all along with the 70’s & 80’s. Life was so good back then. As a kid you think it’ll always be this way and then reality bites hard and your all grown up and trying to make your way in a much changed world. n/word. When I got home, my ass found the wrong side of a 6 inches by 18 inches piece of hard oak. My daddy called it “The Educator”. It taught me some very valuable lessons back in 1973. I wasn’t “Educated” very often, probably 5 or 6 times in my childhood. I took a different approach to my kids. I took things away. The Gameboy or PlayStation was replaced by a book to read. Then they had to tell me what the book was about.

Dick Morhead my friend broke the chain on his Huffy, going downhill about 35mph. We were hauling ass racing each other when I heard his 10 year old, high pitch scream (like a girl😳). He broke his wrist and ankle when he crash landed at the bottom. The rest of the summer in casts. We laugh about it today. Our kids look at us like we’re nuts, laughing at broken bones, scrapes, road rash, etc.

Anyone else ever race downstairs to the TV so early that the TV stations hadn’t “woke up” yet? First, the video color bars, then the Star-Spangled Banner, then Looney Tunes...
Yup (minus the Star Spangled Banner: that would've been odd to see in Canada...) and the first shows to come on on my channels were the old Filmation Hercules or Wizard of Oz cartoon shorts; Looney Tunes was towards the end of the morning).
Yes, I used to get up early to catch the cartoons so I wouldn't miss a single one! I used to get around 5:30 or 6 :00 am (I forget which time) to watch "Hercules". I believe Johnny Nash sang the theme song to it. It came on KCOP channel 13 in LA over the antenna.
We lived in northern SD county but our antenna got good to great reception. We usually got 12 of the 13 channels on our TV dial! We were able to watch all the LA and San Diego channels plus 2 Mexican stations. Channels: 2 KCBS, 4 KNBC, 5 KTLA, 6 XETV Mex., 7 KABC, 8 KFMB, 9 KHJ , 10 KOGO, 11 KTTV, 12 TJ, Mex., Station, 13 KCOP. That was BC (Before Cable) when, you know TV reception was free!
Breakfast was a bowl of fruity pebbles so I can get it during commercials. Lol... Unless I was at my Grandma's, then she'd make eggs, grits, broiled buttered toast, sausage/bacon, with Nesslie Quick chocolate milk.

I'm 54 years old and I stopped watching Saturday mornings cartoons after 6th grade...just about the time I stopped trick or treating on Halloween but I fondly remember those Saturday mornings. I never noticed that they have stopped showing Saturday morning cartoons!....that's a tragedy for young people. ...of course nowadays you have "cartoon netwook" and "nikolodeon" which play cartoons 24/7 so maybe that explains the demise of Saturday morning cartoons on the Big Three Networks.

All of those games were freaking awesome! And kids actually went outside after cartoons and used their imaginations.

I just want the good parts back. I could have done with out the divorce and moving every friggin year, and the social problems that resulted from always being 'the new kid'. Too many rules and restrictions as a child too. Objectively, it wasn't that great.

A bygone era. I grew up with Saturday morning TV. Shows like Bug Bunny/Road Runner, Schoolhouse Rock, Land of the Lost, Fat Albert, and so much more. This video showed some things I haven't thought of in decades-- In the News, Shazam, etc.
And of course there were kids commercials for things like cereal (I loved Frankenberry and Boo Berry) and toys. Lite Brite was my favorite toy. I'd use one today if I could find one!!
It was SO great back then... I wish they would bring back all these old shows & cartoons for my grandchildren!

OMG!! This really brings back the memories!! I was lucky enough to be raised in the 60's and the 70's, and there was never a better time to grow up!! Half of that stuff we either watched or received as Christmas gifts! That was the best time to grow up! We grew up on a farm so we had to get up an hour earlier on Saturday morning so we could do our chores before the shows started, and there was Saturday Movie Matinee to look forward to! Gilligans Island was on every day too!! You get 5 gold stars for this video!!

I grew up in the late 50's.
Has anyone notice how fat kids are now, and the kids that grew up in the 90's? All day playing video games, and not doing any chores. We watch Saturday cartoon, but then we had to clean house, then go outside to play, and ride out bikes, so we were more physically active. We also had strict parents back then, so we had to clean, take out the trash etc. Now the kids play video games all day and talk back to their parents under a dirty pile of clothes with a half empty plate and flies hovering on the plate. I don't allow the 🐂. Slap them silly.

everything was loaded with sugar back then. no wonder we were bouncing off the walls as kids i use to love captain crunch, i couldnt get enough of it. with 25c you could buy a full bag of candy at the store............. magical times
The Friday nights when my Mom would make a banana cake for dessert were the best, because Saturday morning, armed with my blanket and a pillow I would hit the floor before the sun came up and start my cartoon watching, along with a chevy-sized hunk of Mom's cake. Still my strongest childhood memory. I had the entire morning planned, a show on this channel, change channels for the next show, etc. etc. By the time I got to American Bandstand or the Young People's Concerts on CBS I knew it was time to go outside and get my bike.

I was born in 1962 and remember every cartoon and commercial in this video, had a lot of the toys featured as well, you made me remember a lot that I had forgot about, thank you for the memories, the 60’s and 70’s were the best , kids today are missing out , thank you!

Its 2021: and she travels foe her job, she isn't planning on children. Life is fascinating when one gets to be a child. I wasn't over protective, but I'm sure she tbot I was.
I have a 14 year old and two adult kids in their 30’s, we did our best to protect our youngest from all the garbage of the 2000’s, but it’s scary now a days for kids, it seems that they have to grow up so fast. I tell my 14 year old, enjoy being a kid cuz it doesn’t last forever. Enjoy being young.
This is what life was all about. Real things to do other than playing video games and having our nose buried in our phones, not speaking to one another. Kids today should watch this and see what it was like back in the days.

I second that there was a time when kids played on a baseball field or football field basketball court and when you got sent to your room there was no TV there was no internet there were no video games there were no computers a bat a baseball and lucky if you had a transistor radio otherwise it was you if you had a brother bunk beds and that was it

The suburban street I lived on in the 70's was filled with rockets, guns, sharp toys and dangerous wheeled vehicles. And not a helmet nor lawsuit in sight.
So now many of us are pre-diabetic or diabetic, depends on where one's A1C sits at most of the time, many just want medications to take care of this, when truly we can do it without them. Many are addicted to their smart phones, they are constantly quenching our thirsts for media and entertainment and as for the toys that we play with now, can be mechanical, can also be psychedelic. Whatever we choose, awareness is the key of their benefits or subtractions to our lives.
How did we EVER survive?

I know how you feel. Although I love my son, niece & nephews along with my surviving brothers I often feel envious that my mom will see all our love ones in a few years. Don’t get me wrong, she’s fine but in her 80’s. I feel like she’s waited so long to see my brother & sister, my dad & her parents. She’s had a lot of loss but is the strongest person I know 💋

I was born in 1960 and I had all this from 1966 thru grade school and early high school. Plus the RUDOLPH Xmas specials and Charlie Brown specials . Perfect timing . And Batman too
And Mario, remember the Christmas concerts we used to host for our parents in those days? We would dress up in campy Christmas costumes and sing carols for our parents. Schools weren't afraid of celebrating Christmas back then. Now it violates the separation of Church and State.
I remember when the Grinch cartoon premiered-- December 18, 1966. I was so looking forward to it. But I got really sick singing in my church's Christmas program earlier in the day and was sent straight to bed once we got home. The TV room was next to my bedroom, and I could hear the Grinch on the TV but couldn't watch it :(

Oh my God this was so great!! I was born in 65 so I saw all of this. I loved Saturdays. You got Lancelot Link!! Then you’d watch American Bandstand & Soul Train at noon. Then the rest of Saturday afternoon was movies like “Beach Blanket Bingo”
Any show with Sid and Marty Kroft were a hoot and so were the Groovy Ghoovies, Archie's and Sabrina were really great and Josie as well

We got Davey and Goliath on Sundays, along with Gumby and Pokey. We didn't much like them, but that was IT for kids' shows on Sundays. Claymation was pretty cool though.
