Fun fact about Circe:
In last two animation (Done for And There are other ways) You can see sun symbols on her dress, which portraits her lineage as a daughter She is daughter of Sun Titan God Helios an ocean nymph Persa. This makes her a powerful sorcerer, which is why Eurylochous calls her witch.
Sorry for my garbage English
Circe was offering him that she would turn his men from pigs back into men in exchange for sleeping with her. So his temptation was to take the road out she was leaving him. But he couldn’t go through with it. And good thing too since she was planning on killing him and him saying no saved him.
In the myth they had a son, but Jay changed this since he wanted to make Odysseus more palatable for modern audiences.
“There are other ways” is Epic’s “Say No To This” (Hamilton) but this time he actually said no to this.
And without seeing his wife for 10 years
Odysseus is the man Alexander Hamilton dreamed of being 😭😭
In Homer's Iliad and Odysseia, Odysseus had no children with anyone other than Penelope. All his supposed out of wedlock children are later additions by other authors, most notably Hesiod and Hyginus, both of whom wrote - and lived - significantly later. There was more sex in the original of course, but coercive r*pe via blackmail and/or threats is generally not good material for a musical.
I love how Penelope's theme plays when Odysseus mentions her/thinks of her 🥹
to answer your question about Circe's reasoning (in case you didn't catch it in the lyrics), Circe turns men into pigs to protect the nymphs under her care. this was back in a time when women, especially nymphs in the myths, were seen as nothing more than property and often taken advantage of by men. Circe implies through her line "the last time we had strangers here we faced a heavy loss" that one of her nymphs (or possibly several of them) were sa'd, and so instead of taking the higher possibility that other men might do the same thing, she turns the ones who are tempted by her offer into pigs to save her and her nymphs more fear and pain. in all actuality, she's awesome, and yes, while kind of an antagonist, a fully understandable and sympathetic one. in all reality, she's a strong woman defending other women in a time where women were abused often and badly.
anyways, i can't wait for you to react to the Underworld Saga!!! you've been going through this so quickly, and i've been so excited to continue on the journey with you! while my favorite song of Act 1 is probably either Puppeteer or No Longer You (the guy who plays the prophet has a BEAUTIFUL voice), and my favorite in act 2 (at the moment since none of it has been released) is likely Dangerous (freaking love Hermes, man- his tunes are always so catchy), I'm glad to see you enjoying all of them and also having fun watching the talented artists and animators who've worked hard to make their content! Keep up the great work!
I don't know how it was in the Oddyssey, but in Epic she turned Oddysseus' men into pigs, just because they accepted her offer.
*loving, caring, if not even a bit flirty* "Come inside and rest. Have a meal. I'll take care of you."
...
"Oh, you took me up on my offer, so you deserve to be made into pigs."
The same goes for her bout with Oddysseus. If he goes along with what she is throwing out into the world, and shows that he is capable of lust and consensual sex, she deems him a villain and he's done for.
She is the issue in both those cases. A traumatized and understandable antagonist, but not a justified one in this case. She does abide to the theme of ruthlessness is mercy, though. She just doesn't really allow people to show their true color, before she's ruthless to them.
@@MrSlothJunior That is factually incorrect. In Epic, Circe turns men into pigs as an offensive defence because “the last time we let strangers live we faced a heavy loss”. She gave others the benefit of the doubt and it hurt her and the nymphs, so she’s not doing that anymore.
Yes, she turns men into pigs because of a similar philosophy as “ruthlessness is mercy upon yourself”, but the “ruthlessness” philosophy has nothing about finding out about your opponent’s true colors first, or giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. Very much the opposite, actually.
It’s all very clearly stated in the songs.
@@TheaPetrichorian Which part of my comment are you calling "factually incorrect"?
I don't see any part of your comment be in opposition to any part of my comment.
You did add a new point, though, that I have to disagree with. You say that the "ruthlessness is mercy upon yourself"-philosophy has nothing to do with giving people the benefit of the doubt, but in almost all cases other than Circe's, people do get the benefit of the doubt:
1. Odysseus killed sleeping Trojans, AFTER they had been at war for 10 years. They were definitely enemies already.
2. Polyphemus killed Odysseus' men, AFTER they killed his sheep.
3. Poseidon killed Odysseus' men, AFTER they disfigured his son.
4. Odysseus killed sirens, AFTER they had killed other sailors and after they tried to kill him and his men.
5. Zeus killed the crew, AFTER they killed one of Sun God's cows.
Those were all cases of people and creatures who had proved themselves to be enemies or who had otherwise wronged the one who would prove to be ruthless.
Only Circe and the sacrifices to Scylla fall out of this category in the story so far. She is the only one who gives no benefit of the doubt, even though she easily could. She seemingly has enough power to not screw all men over. Just don't invite them in.
What she is doing is the equivalent of me going around asking women on dates or to house parties, and then murdering everyone who agrees to my offers.
No matter how traumatized I am by women from my past, no one would say that I am justified. The women I punish are entirely unrelated to the ones who wronged me.
Circe is deovted and desperate to defend her people. When power failed, she tried to seduce Odysseus, thinking men only cared about sex from women. Hearing his devotion to his people and his wife, though... That changed her mind. Love it
Fun fact, hermes is odysseys great grandfather 😬🤣
That’s so cool
Every single animatic for wouldn’t you like has Hermes flirting with Odysseus. Every. Single. One. It was Ancient Greece so it isn’t that strange but ya know still
@@JoeySingsand Circe’s the ex lover of Hermes. So basically Hermes is getting back at his ex and Circe tried seducing her ex’s grandkid-
and in the original odyssey by Homer Hermes actually warns Circe about odysseus. So basically Hermes shows up, flirts with his great grandson, convinces him to try drugs so he can beat his ex, and then turns around and warns his ex. His in it for the chaos.
@@Dawn_the_dragonits Hermes what d'ya expect.
You know what's funny? The VA for Circe is actually Jorge's girlfriend.
They did a cute video acting out part of “there are other ways” on his channel.
They are such a cute and talented couple.
Awwww

TheeArteest also made a beautiful animation of The Underworld!
"I'm not sure I follow"
Sir she is removing her clothes, I think the message is quite clear.
Epic is such an amazing project, Animatics really bring another level of storytelling and emotion to these songs
For once Odysseus taking a risk paid off.
You're almost fully caught up now.
If you're interested, once you're caught up I'd recommend taking a look at some of the alternate animatics you haven't seen yet, whether doing a reaction to them or just on your own time. Especially ruthlessness by Anniflamma and just a man by wolfy. Also if i remember right you saw Mircsy's warrior of the mind, so I'd definitely recommend checking out Wolfy's one for that too.
I would also recommend checking out your light, which is a cut epic song. It really adds a lot to the relationship between Odysseus and polites. There are also many snippets of unreleased songs, but I understand if you want to wait until they release fully.
Fun fact one of Odysseus men died on Circes island but not by Circe herself because he got so drunk that he fell down her stairs and died but no one knew so they didn’t even give him a proper burial
Is that why the 43 men under his command suddenly became 42 by the next few songs
Yeah captain shouldnt brush off his crews feelings till later but same can be said for the captain he needs time to fully digest how he himself feels before he can properly digest how the rest feel especially since all 557 men were under his command even more burden on his mind
Absolutely true!!
Our QUEEN ✨CIRCE!!!✨
“The last time we let strangers in we faced a heavy loss”
Did you notice in the flashback there were four nymphs but in present time there are now three nymphs
Oh I didn’t gonna re watch it
Fun fact, Hermes is Ody's great grandfather. HERMES WAS FLIRTING WITH HIS GREAT GRANDSON.
Interesting!
That’s kinda par for the course for the gods
The lil cheek kiss from Hermes 😗
something clicked for me when rewatching/relistening to the Circe saga. Odysseus being tempted by Circe reminds me of Alexander Hamilton being tempted by Maria Reynolds- but unlike Hamilton, Odysseus didn't give into the temptation.
well circe's case feel a lot more coercion-y than Maria Reynold's pure temptation because she proposes that she'll release his men only if he sleeps with her. If the pure temptation of a beautiful goddess was enough to win Odysseus's consent he wouldn't have been so miserable on Calypso's island
I loved how you emphasized in your intro about appreciating all the works and artists out there.
I know you only through Epic and your speech showed me your serious side and I really liked it.
I will raise a glass of milk on your name for that 🥛😉
I appreciate that!

This is my favorite Saga so far!! Preciate you!
Anniflamma is a fantastic animator! thanks för the reaction!
Circe is my queen tbh. She rly didn't do anything wrong.
OMG, love your reactions!!
Thank you!! 😁
You are the only reaction channel that dosent pause every 5 seconds 😂
😂😂
Can’t wait to see your reaction to the underworld saga, that shit broke me
Circe was willing to help Ody because she hates Poseidon too
Circe is such an interesting character! I loved your reaction. You were wisely suspicious of her from the start
I love that ur enjoying this as much as i did
Great reaction! For the Underworld song honestly all the animatics I’ve watched for it have been so good. I saw another comment say ShiQing47 (which is very good) so I’ll say TheeArteest for another really good option. As for the other two songs. I agree with Ximena Natzel for No Longer You and Gigi for Monster (this animation is just so gorgeous!!). After you listen/watch the Underworld Saga you’re with the rest of us waiting for the next saga to release.
I love Circe did you know the love she talks about was a mortal who she would change to a god but he would fall in love with the sea nymph Scylla and ask Circe to brew a potion to make her love him back but she would instead brew a potion that turned her to a monster!!!
Can we just talk about the fact that the flower wore off before she started trying to seduce him meaning just the thought of his wife alone broke her spell, which is fucking crazy
Lol love how your reaction to all of these sagas was :0 the storytelling through these songs and animatics are so good.
Thx for the reaction
Thx for watching my video
Can't wait for the underworld saga, so far the recommendations I've seen for the songs have been really good. I can also recommend Shiqing47 for underworld, Gwendy for no longer you, and Gigi for monster.
Also wanted to let you know if you're checking out the other animatics either on here or in your free time that a new full Luck Runs Out just got posted 13 hours ago by a user named Jen. Not a lot of people have seen it yet but as usual the creator is very talented.
Hermes is pretty much one of the few gods that doesn't have interior motives when helping human he's just helping to help that is the same for in Greek mythology he's not one that's very ruthless in Greek mythology as well in my opinion
"Don't cut them oft, Captain, they need ti express their emotions. They just went through some stuff..."
And who's damn fault was it that they went through all that stuff??? Theirs! Kmt. They can go express themselves to the bushes.
Cuando le toque reaccionar a The Underworld saga.... vamos a llorar todos
Todavía no lo supero... T_T
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS !!!
YIPPIE YIPPIE RAAAAHH‼️‼️‼️
Circe is giving ann hathaway vibes.

I choose to say this
I am gay for Circe.
