Man, I would buy this version! The old logo on the headstock is awesome!
Thanks!
I would like to see a whole video on how you modified the neck heel. Nice axe!
It's almost shocking how overpriced his Sig model seems now, with all of your incredible upgrades. I'd been looking at possibly getting one as well, but not with all of the stock parts @ $2350CAD. It's highway robbery. You completely leveled-up that guitar, man. A+
You’re not wrong. But man, EVERYTHING seems way overpriced nowadays. 😞
oh man, that guitar's much cheaper than that in Europe (got mine for the equivalent of approx. $1750)
I absolutely love what you did with this guitar! You have skills and good taste! I could have watched a much longer version of this. So cool. Thanks!
Wow, thanks!
I've just got my hands on the Weathered Orange Pro-Mod and had a bunch of this in mind, including the Tremel-no, Hipshot Tuners, D-Tuna. The sanding down the heel joint is absolutely inspired. Looks amazing!
That orange Pro-Mid sounds badass! I bet it’s gonna be awesome when you get done with it. 🤘🏻
The guitar playing on that track is so good
Impeccable

Wish I had the skill sets to do Exactly what you done absolutely 💯 killed it! Those upgrades I can’t imagine anything else better! Wow! 🤩
I appreciate that! 🙏🏻
You improved an already cool looking guitar. Thanks for your presentation and hard work.
🙏🏻
That Floyd is SIIIIIIK. Nice job man. She gonna be a beast. I also love how you darken the bare wood. If you look at stage worn guitars,....the exposed wood is almost black with DNA, sweat, spit, and so on. Very authentic looking. Also,....I love the toothpaste logo.
Thanks man! And yeah, there is something about that logo I just love, especially on a reversed headstock like this, which you never see.
I’d really like to send you mine to do ALL of that to my guitar! I love a quality guitar, with your mods that would be a fabulous guitar!
I appreciate that!
Really cool to do a video how you get all of this stuff. Very cool results
Do you mean a video on where I sourced the parts?
Amazing job man. First thoughts before watching, “He’s gonna do what?…”, but it shows you know what you’re doing and put a lot of thought into every mod. Too many people buy replacement parts without consideration- I know I have!
Great job man. Would love to see it in action!
I think we all have. 🤣 Here’s a play though of an Evergrey song, but I’m not setup to record tones well. I just mic the cab and go directly into my phone. 😂

I have one of these guitars , I had it plek'd at sweetwater when i bought it .Been in love with it since i got it , now i feel likes it's a POS and i need to send it to you ,lol .Amazing job .looks killer and i bet it's an amazing player now .
Thanks brother! As you know, it’s a killer guitar right outta the case, so none of this stuff is needed really. But it does add to it…at least for me anyway. I like taking something that is already great and dialing it in to my personal preferences.
How was the plek experience? Seem worth it?
I’ll never buy another guitar without havin it done . Worth the relatively low price to me
Good to know. I'll have to try it sometime.
I have this guitar and it's my favorite. At first I was like "why is this guy about to screw up an awesome guitar?" But holy f**k you leveled it up like crazy, this is completely SICK, amazing work. Right down to the toothpaste logo (Charvel has to bring that back!). That is an absolute machine. Can't believe you even took some meat off the heel joint. Wish I had the skills to do this half of this to my guitar! Let me know if you're for hire!!
I appreciate that! Man, I would love to, but I have a full time job and I don’t even have time to get to all of my own projects. 😞
Amazing job - what abuts kicking guitar you've created. A thing of beauty and a tool for creative expression!
Thanks 🙏🏻
This is a badass project. Thinking of swapping out to that Floyd and the ragnarok pickup. Looks great buddy. Subscribed 🤟🏼
They are both worthwhile upgrades imo 🤘🏻
I'm so pleased to see this. I had to have mine professionally set up as the intonation on the low e was so bad it was unusable out of the box. The frets on mine had to be redone, a shim was taken from under the locking nut and the nut refitted. It is fantastic now but I was really surprised that it hadn't been prepared properly. I was surprised you kept the scratch plate. I had mine changed to cream and put an off white volume knob on. When I can find a cream bridge pick up I like more I'll have that put on as I don't think the zebra pick up suits it. I like it so much I tried to find money for another one to really personalise but couldn't. Thank you for posting.
Man, mine was a MESS outta the box. Zero setup had been done. Heck, the bridge was pressing against the body on mine too. It was a trainwreck. I left the pickguard for now because I'm honestly not sure what direction I want to go with it. Do you have a link to the one you got?
thats amazing I have a custom super strat and i found the same problem with the large block. that thing looks killer would love to see a video of you playing it
Thanks 🙏🏻
WOW!! What a great video showing what it could be. Loved that you used Wes's music for your background ambience. Great job.
You are the ONLY person to catch who’s music that was. Well done sir. 🤘🏻
@@brutesmagootes3996 and that is why I am a new subscriber to your channel...and, I also like to tinker with my guitars. Btw...after watching the video I was pumped, so, I had to pull down my 1986 Kramer American Made Barreta Dweezil sig project guitar and jam for an hour. Thank you.
Dude that Kramer is a badass guitar!!! My first guitar was a 80's Kramer V, I don't remember the exact model though.
Who’s Wes? Really dig the music!
Wes from Alluvial
The toothpaste logo adds so much to the overall vibe on this axe! I was wondering where this axe ranks overall in your collection. Im thinking about picking one of these up and modding it out to my liking. Love what you've done to yours!
Thanks man! I’ve done a bunch of work to it since this video, and it remains my favorite guitar. It’s the first one I reach for.
@@brutesmagootes3996 Killer dude! I can see why!!!🔥👍🏻
He does have a red slightly different version of this coming out at some point if you want to hold out for that. But who knows when that will be.
What a great work! The tune playing in the background is very very good, I enjoyed listening it. Is it your work also?
Thanks! No, I wish it was my work though. lol
You sure know your way around a guitar! Nice mod and superb work man.
🙏🏻
Amazing! I took a very similar approach last year with mine! Added hot rails in the neck but kept the JB, brass block, hipshot tuners, and D-tuna. Moved the volume pot closer to a 'Strat position and added a 3-way toggle switch instead the pull-push pot. I was wondering about the OG Floyd Rose and if that upgrade is really worthy, I may pull the trigger after watching this. Love the change to the toothpaste logo, much better look for sure!
Thanks man! Yours sounds like a beast too. That's the great thing about this guitar...it lends itself very well to whatever mods you want to do. I relocated the volume as well, but I plan on adding a 2 way switch (I never use both pickups at once) here shortly.
As far as the OG Floyd, IMO yeah, it's very much worth it. It's a much better built unit, and you can always sell of the 1000 and recoup most of your money on the OG.
@@brutesmagootes3996 thank you for getting back to me! Yes, I have a N4 with a German made Floyd and you can really tell the difference in build quality, stability wise though, the 1000 is fine, I’m worried more about reliability long term. I’m starting to look for good prices for the 1984, it looks the best but it is an expensive piece of kit!
How hard is to change the radius of the Floyd? Do you remember how many shims did you use for each saddle?
It’s not hard to change the radius, but unfortunately I didn’t write down what shims I used. I really wish I would have as you are not the first to ask. 😔
I’m gonna have to grab me a N4 one of these days for sure.
Wow I felt the same way about this guitar. Excellent job
Thanks! And I don't think we are alone. This guitar seems to keep getting more popular.
Very interesting series and good work!
Question for you... isn't the Floyd resting on the body (dive-only) when it is stock (like an EVH)? If not, would you have to mod it to be dive-only? I guess I'm just confused by the need for the Tremol-no. Thanks for your time!
Thanks! No, this is raised off of the body, so I can pull up or down on it.
Incredible job my man. What a beauty! A true rockers guitar. Nice work.
Thanks so much man!
Dude they should hire you for production manager in MX facility so you could make the guitars the correct way! Love it man! I prefer your version!
Thanks man!
this thing turned out bad ass!!!!! nice job man! truly, I love that Charvel toothpaste logo, I'd love to add one of those to the headstock of my new charvel, I agree with you, it's the best logo!
It’s a classic for sure. I know it was just used for pointy heads, but imo it looks amazing on a Fender style reverse headstock. 🤘🏻
Hi Brutes. I Must admire your enthusiasm to change it so radically for improvement. Hope you get more fun and pleasure from playing it now. Good luck 😃 with your musical endeavours. Best 👍 regards. John. Also a modder.
Much appreciated! And as a fellow modder, I'm sure you know how we just can't leave well enough alone. lol
Awesome job!!! Looks incredible
Badass man killer mods great detail going over all the parts 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks!
Amazing job and very inspiring! Many years back I did very similar work to my 84 Kramer Focus. Regretfully traded it for a JCM 900 head. Anyway I’m looking to do another project with 90’s Strat body. How do you determine what the final radius of the Floyd should be with a 12-16” neck? Also I’ll be using a Gotoh GE1996T with 36mm brass block. Would you happen to know if the shims and fine tuners are interchangeable? Love the look of the brass but don’t want to spend the money on a new Floyd.
Unfortunately I don’t know if the shims will work with other bridges. As far as the radius, that can get complicated to figure out, but an easy way of doing it that works most of the time is base the increase from the nut to the 12th fret, then use that to the bridge. So in my case I was about a 20” at the bridge.
Dude, you went all out! I’d probably do the same mods. Awesome job!
Go for it! 🤘🏻
Very nice. I was thinking of getting this model. Appreciate your insights and all your work.
Glad to help! Do you think you will pull the trigger or grab something else?
@@brutesmagootes3996 not sure. I’m fighting with a strat trem right now and would just prefer a hard tail. But love this Charvel model.
Hard tails are for sure much easier. But even though a Floyd can be intimidating at first, once you get it down it’s fairly simple to deal with. It really just comes down to if you feel like you’d ever use a trem or not. Personally I like the option when I need it.
Your taste and skills bro… speechless
I appreciate that! 🙏🏻
You should for sure try a Gotoh GE1996T. It's a fantastic replacement instead of the FR. Direct replacement and about $100 cheaper but NOT cheaper made and comes auto with a brass block. A really great video! Loved this upgrade!
Thanks! Yeah, the Gotoh is a great bridge. I thought about it for a second but decided to stick with FR on this one.
well i pulled the trigger on one of the Hendrik Charvels… damn its a great thing. But I heard you adjusted the radius of the floyd to the compound radius of the fret board. Since you already done it Iam interested in which shims you used? So i can do that too, hope it doesnt matter that i still have the original 1000 series floyd. thanks man
Unfortunately I do not remember what shim setup I used, and I didn’t think about noting it when I was setting it up. I’m sorry. 😞
Very disappointed that Charvel didn't set up the Floyd bridge to the correct radius for the compound fretboard.
I watched a review of a Fender Jazzmaster American Pro 1 recently, and the fretboard had a constant radius of 9.5" while the bridge had a 12" radius!
This really isn't good for playability!
Thanks for an excellent video Brutes.
Yeah, I have a feeling that A LOT of companies do not match their Floyd's to the proper neck radius.
Looks killer, I've been considering the D-Tuna on mine too but I thought you had to lock it so you couldn't pull back on the bar. I could be wrong but it didn't look like you did that unless I missed it? Anyway awesome job 👏
You're correct. But, in this current setup I'm not using it even though it's installed on the bridge. You can have it installed and use the bridge normally if it's in the out position. I change it up depending on what project I'm doing at the time, but I always leave it on regardless so the option is always there.
Excellent taste and killer mods with some awesome attn to detail man, and big yes on the toothpaste logo!
Thanks brother!
Swapping out the classic Charvel logo for the later toothpaste style logo, and then the placement of that logo? Were definitely bold... choices?! Lol, it's your guitar, do what makes you happy! Strong work on the guitar, making it your own and a great vid. overall!
Thanks....and yeah, that's what it's all about. Creating something that inspires you to play. This guitar has changed a lot since this video, but it's finally in a place where I am in love with it.
Just got mine and love it! I want to do the FR 1984. Will the R3 nut combo fit even though 1mm difference? I'm guessing yes? but wanted your input!
I haven’t replaced it so I can’t tell you for sure if it will work or not. You may want to contact Charvel and see if they know. Nuts can be very finicky.
oh, well if you left the stock one on that's fine by me.. lol.. cheaper anyway. Those kits with the nut aren't cheap imo.. bit pricey but the German just is smoother turning the fine tuners.. @@brutesmagootes3996
I like that charvel font also
Toothpaste logo ftw!
Amazing changing! Who is playing ? What the name of the first song please?

Yes, good ear! Wes is the man!! 🤘🏻
Absolutely incredible job….the only thing I noticed was the pick guard and volume knob are still snowy white brand new looking….maybe dirty that up a bit….but I’m not knocking your work one bit my man…..incredible job!!!!!
Yeah, it was an aesthetic choice to keep that white and new. There is something about the contrast of worn out parts and new parts meshed together that I really like. And thanks for the compliment! 🤘🏻

Hey Bro, I also have this amazing Guitar. The fretwork is pretty good on mine. But I think you did some awesome upgrates und it also looks amazing now. Just a question. What was the reason for you to Change the neck PU. I think the DiMarzio is doing a good job. And what is the difference of the 1984 Floyd? Thanks for your answer. Cheers Flo
Thanks man. The Hot Rails is more my to my personal liking. It’s warmer and hotter. As far as the Floyd, the main things are the 1984 has brass fine tuners, a good size brass block (although I replaced that), old style trem arm (although I replaced that with a push in) but the main thing is it’s built quality is much better than the 1000 series.
Couldnt tell in the video, but did the hipshots require any modifications to the headstock, or were they direct swap?
Yes, they did unfortunately. But, you can’t tell once installed.
Tell me, what is this fantastic music in the background??? It is so awesome!

@@brutesmagootes3996 Great, thank you!!!

What's the music please? It's insanely beautiful👏

What are your thoughts on the Schaller Lockmesiter trems with the different bridge and nut radius options ?
Honestly I don’t know much about them. They sound interesting though and I like the brand.
@@brutesmagootes3996 From what I have found, they are made in the same German factory where Schaller makes the original Floyd on behalf of Floyd. They have a page up on their site showing the options and PDF sizing downloads. You can order nuts and bridges that have different radius.
It seems pretty cool and is built of the same steel and all of the Original Floyd model they produce. Should be a drop in replacement for most Floyd guitars. But you know how that is sometimes. 😂 “Was your guitar made in the first two months of 2019 or after that?” “After? What day? Ok, Yeah you need this other part number then….”
I think I’ll look into these for the next build. They do at least have drawings of them so I should be able to double check dimensions.
Nice job on Danhages charvel ,how did youve fix rubber strip under the strings holder 🤔
Thanks! I had some adhesive backed rubber sheets in the shop and cut a strip of that and stuck it under the retainer.
Wicked nice…🤘🏼 What is that trem stop you have in there?

Amazing job man! I wish I had the balls to shave down my neck heel on my So Cal. Its the only thing that kinda sucks on my So Cal. I love everything else

nice work! what an incredible g-tar . I want it
Wow, Amazing work!!
Thanks a lot!
Got mine today!! Love what you did!!! What did you use for ageing the body and neck? Sanded then stu mac mahogany stain and then wipe on Poly and Tru-Oil on top?
It's a killer axe! I'm sure you are already as in love with yours as I am with mine.
I mainly used Stew Mac Straw stain and Tru-Oil Walnut stain. I used Minwax wipe-on poly on the headstock, and Tru-Oil gun stock finish on the other areas.
@@brutesmagootes3996 Cool!! yep can't put it down!! I'll have to get over to stew mac!!! What was the floyd saddle shims 0.2 mm? per string to get 19"? - two shims on the e's and one shim middle strings?

No problem at all. I hope you were inspired to do your own! 🤘🏻
love the redo/remake - question how did you clean up the neck (from the 12th fret up)? Sanding? Naphtha?
On the front or back of the neck? I didn’t do just the 12th fret and up on either side. I did the full neck (on what I touched).
@@brutesmagootes3996 hi just the fingerboard (top of the neck) 😎🤘
I spot leveled, re-crowned and then sanded/polished all of the frets.
Hey i have the same exact model, and the high E string tends to slip off the fretboard. Not very often but compared to my other Charvels i feel there is less room for error on the high string. Can a luhtier do anything about it? Maybe a complete refret is gonna solve it?
The bridge is not misaligned i checked it, the problem is the fret ends are too rounded they overdid the comfort thingy :)
Unfortunately that can happen when guitars have hard rolled edges like this. You would need a refret. I ended up refretting by mine.
I would like to correct the radius on my floyd too. I also have a charvel compound radius. Any help will be appreciated
You need to be at a 18” radius on the bridge 👍🏻
Awesome to see someone who takes the time to continue the radius back to the bridge. It's one of my personal niggles.......life is too short for mis-matched radii! How many shims did you end up using?

Well done mate
So you reangled the neckplate holes, I always liked how Charvette guitars have an angeled neckheel, cannot stand the standard strat blocky neckheel.
Me either. There is just no need to have that so beefy and thick.
@@brutesmagootes3996 I will try it out on my next diy guitar kit for sure, thx for the idea!
Isn’t stock floyd rose radius 12? And you need 16+ on it because of compound radius?
How many shims did you put under each saddle if you can help me?
Much appreciated
Yes, you need to continue the compound to the bridge, which for this guitar was around a 20" if I remember. Unfortunately, I don't remember my shim combination that I used. Many have asked for it...I should have written it down.
I have So-Cal Pro Mod 2023, to make bridge around 18” you need to put 2 shims under E strings, and one shim underneath A and B strings
İ added fat brass block to my charvel. İt sounds dark and muddy now. I think stock nickel plated brass was better and balanced. What u think about fat brass blocks?
Personally I love them. But I like warm chunky tone. I would think they work well for most people, not not for everyone since we all have different tastes. Same goes for the guitars they are being put in.
Dude…the fact that you know the fretboard radius increases to the bridge, tells me you know your stuff…absolutely fantastic job my man👍
I appreciate that!
I'm new to your Channel 📹 NICE!! Thanks For Sharing 🎸 🎶

looks awesome! so there was no alignment issues when swapping the bridge? i was going to replace a FR1000 on an LTD with the 1984 bridge, but the string alignment is a bit wider on the '84 (and a Schaller Lockmeister) than the 1000.
No alignment issues. I ordered a 53mm spacing on my BKP and it's pretty much right on the money. 👍🏻
String spacing should be the same on the OFR and FR1000
greetings old man....what is the name of that Floyd rose that you installed....I would like a modification in a stratocaster the same installation that you did to this guitar...excellent video...

WD Music Products
whats the height of your strings in the 12th fret? and what are your pickups?
Typically I run 4/64” and 3/64”. The neck pickup is a SD hot rails, and the bridge is a BKP ragnarok
Did you replaced the push pull? I need to replace it with something good what do you recommend?
I love the Dulop Super Pots…a little pricy but last forever.
@@brutesmagootes3996 thanks just realized that the stock one is push push but can’t find a Dunlop push push
Ah, you’re right, I don’t see one either. I’m not sure then.
insane! love it
okay, just watching through... I like a lot of what you've done here.
like, I just took mine to get set-up/sorted, and it's like... the radius thing really annoys me too! does not make sense to have a flat bridge when the neck has a curve, makes it so annoying to set up.
also the shielding; I took mine to get sorted because I'd gotten a ground loop (was fine initially), so that makes so much sense
and the fuckin' heel!! far too chunky out of the box, so yes to that
all I'd say as far as negatives go is that I'd have been more subtle with the headstock job, and that mayyybe the pickguard needs weathering a bit? that's just me though!
Thanks brother. The headstock is all personal preference. It matches more what the guitar body is now. And I agree with the pickguard, it has also been changed.
what is the tremelo stabilizer thing called? I can't understand what you call it lol "Tremble?" Part #? Not seeing that on FU Tone site.. 'Nother brand?
Tremol-No 👍🏻
Cool thanks!@@brutesmagootes3996
I need help with reverse headstock tuners were and what model are those you used ?
They are Hipshot locking tuners with knurled barrels
@@brutesmagootes3996 thank you , do you need to buy then “left” in order to pit then on a reverse headstock or just normal?
You need the Lefty's. But they are not a direct fit. I had to do some drilling to get them to work. There may be some better options out there, but I'm not sure.
Good catch on the Floyd radius. Everyone oohs and ahhs about compound radius but none of these manufacturers shim the saddles appropriately when they build and set up. So the interior strings are too high compared to the 1 and 6.
No attention to detail. Id rather just have a straight 12 so I could get away with not shimming.
Some tuneomatic guitars like LTDs will have a 14" radius and a fixed 12" radius bridge. Lol trash for 1200 dollars.
Yeah, I agree. I just understand how when you’re in the literal business of building guitars that you willfully ignore this and refuse to build the correctly.
Looks great. I put tremolo block shims on mine so that it sits on the body, instead of using a tremolno. This allowed me to put on a d-tuna and still pull down on the whammy bar.
I'm curious how the BK pickup sounds. I'm trying to find a good pickup for that guitar.
I’m happy with the Rag in it. The Rag is a warmer pickup which helps with the brightness of this guitar, plus I like warmer tones.
@@brutesmagootes3996 I went with the Duncan Custom, one of the brightest pickups available haha. I found the low end on that guitar difficult to tame with my usual pickups. The Custom hit the sweet spot for me.

You said the string retainer has rubber on one side of to deaden the strings? Where does one find this?
Unfortunately they are not available. I made it.
Didn't joe holmes from ozzy's band in the 90s play one of these? .and awesome work man looks cool as hell ✌️🤟🤘
He played a Strat, but he is a FANTASTIC guitarist.
@Brutes Magootes do you know anything about any of his guitars or gear I know he played moded fenders
Unfortunately I don't. He used to wail on those guitars though. Wasn't one of them called Fork or something?
@Brutes Magootes yeah I do believe someone told a story about how joe and ozzy are in the dressing room and ozzy thought Joe's guitars were somewhat boring and ozzy took a fork to the one strat that you see Joe playing parry Mason on its a black strat with almost all bare wood showing and you can see that someone took a fork right in front of the bridge. I've tried looking up his gear and guitars a few times but nothing really comes up. You wouldn't know of anyone who would know about that stuff would you?
You are an expert, please advise me on the Neck Screw measurements of Charvel Pro Mod DK 24 HH HT purple one, I want to put stainless steel Neck screws with Brass Billet ferrules..kindly advise
Most neck screws are #8 x 1-3/4". But your best bet would be to measure the stock screws and make sure the ones you order match. If you still question, just contact the company with the screws you want and double check that they will work.
Interesting that it is routed HSH
Yeah, it was a nice surprise. It makes modding so much easier.
I have dozens of guitars with Floyds. The not real/ real dilemma is a waste of time. Set them up and play them and all OG's, 1000's, and 1500's will feel the same. What you should have gotten for that price was SS frets. That guitar looks sweet though. Been wanting that one but it would need to be modified a bit like yours.
I installed stainless frets on it. I do that on any guitar that didn't come with them.
