I watched at least 6 How To videos and this one was by far the best one. Solitaire is one of my favorite card games and I usually play online, but this video helped me learn to play with a deck of cards in less than 10 minutes.
When I was younger, I used to play solitaire all the time on Windows-based computers (I only recently got into Apple😅). It was addictive. It’s been a while since I played, but now that there’s Solitaire Cash (This is not an ad, just telling it like it is) I’m gonna get back into it. I just needed a “refresher course” on how to play, and this video was perfect!👍🏽 But that one part about losing a game…I remember from when I was a kid, being under the impression that it’s possible to win every game of solitaire no matter how the cards were dealt. If you just sat there and thought things through or just started moving things around and trying different approaches, one could win any game. I guess not.😔
This is just one of many, many fun and exciting solitaires. Some of my recently discovered favourites are "Bicycle Wheel", "Domino" and "Stubborn Finish Woman".
The name of this specific solitaire is Klondike. Hundreds of different solitaire games exist in books and computer programs; I've played about 200 of them. I don't get why Klondike is the most popular, though. It takes longer to deal out and play than many single deck solitaires, offers little scope for skill, and can't be won often. Cole explains Klondike well in this video, but you should get a solitaire book if you're interested in learning more. I can recommend _Chambers Card Games for One_ and _The Complete Book of Solitaire and Patience Games_ out of the solitaire books still in circulation.
@Joseph Stalin. No. The former was written by a Brit named Peter Arnold. The latter was written by American games writers Albert H. Morehead and Geoffrey Mott-Smith, the former of whom was Dwight D. Eisenhower's partner in Bridge.
Good video. I was going to play solitaire like I used to do when I was a kid. My grandma had taught us. But I couldn't remember how to play! Now I've got it. Thanks!
Same here, but I've learned many ways to play Solitaire, but for some reason I keep coming back to the Klondike version! Now I've finally gotten the hang of it once again!!
You got it all wrong, kid. You play cards the way you should lead your life and lead your life the way you should play cards. Maybe everybody has a blind spot.
You are the one who literally teached me all the playing cards are there available... Really thank you for your amazing Explanation and for your time... Love from Bangladesh
This brings back nostalgia. I used to play back in the mid 90s as a young teenager and never really played after. Thank you for posting, will give it a shot again 🤜🏾🤛🏾
@@RedPlaystationController You're supposed to uncover the aces through manipulating the cards in the tableau and waste. You're lucky if an ace is exposed at the start.
Thanks! I just started playing only using the basic idea for a while. It's not so easy. I'm sure this won't increase my chances of winning by much but I LEARNED THE CORRECT procedure and it will add a few new dynamics to the game. Thanks again! :)
Drawing one card at a time with unlimited redeals moving any length of sequence and worrying back cards from the foundations to the tableau, your odds of winning are about 4 in 5. Drawing three at a time under the same rules, your odds drop to roughly 1 in 5. Under the game's strictest rules-drawing one at a time with no redeal or three at a time with two redeals, allowing only entire sequences to be moved to other piles, and no worrying back-your odds drop to 1 in 30. If your win rates are within those ballparks, you're playing just fine.

I really like to play card games that require multiple people such as: poker, blackjack, speed, kimp, etc. But sometimes I don't have anyone to play with so I tried to think of a card game that you can play by yourself and the only one that came to mind was solitare but I didn't know how to play. This video helped so much thank you
Thank you! I've been bored and trying to learn this all week. I barely have data connection and your video was the most concise video. It was short enough that I could get it to download, and I beat the game my first try after watching! I've subscribed as well 😊

I've been looking for a more comprehensive method of learning this one game of Solitaire. Thank you, the concept was more easier to understand than other vids. I mean, how can anyone learn how to play with a two minute vid? Not me that's for sure!
Thank you kindly for emphasizing the "Cards have to move onto different suits" rule. I watched another video on how to play, and kept getting games I couldn't finish.
Thank you for uploading this video. I haven't played in years and forgot how to set it up when it comes to the first card. So only 1 card for the first one instead of one face down and one up also. I see. Thanks. :) I remember now. In the past I won once and a few times on the computer. :) It's hard. And my Grandma Carm taught me how to play this when I was a kid. Rip Grandma ❤ I miss you!

Thank you for sharing this display of the card layout. I love the game but had forgotten the way to layout the initial cards. I appreciate you sharing this information. 🙂
I've recently started playing Patience again in my dotage. The US version played here is interesting in presenting a straight line of cards rather than the angled one I play (7 cards, 6 cards, 5 cards and so on - yours is so much tidier!). I also play using three cards at a time from the deck. I came to this video as I had a question about which card should be used if there is a gap, and was pleased to find it had to be king, as I thought. Cheers. Robert,uk.

I just learned to play solitaire on the computer last night on my iPhone! Using app games 🥰✨💕 I love this game. I’ve played it for hours already. I remember back in the late 90s/early2000s, trying to play this game on our family’s bulky computer because it was the only game that came with Microsoft software. I NEVER understood how to play it and could never figure out why I couldn’t move the cards wherever I wanted to. Haha! But now it’s so satisfying to play. Maybe someday I’ll use a real deck of cards. But it’s really enjoyable on my iPhone. 🥰✨💕
Thank you for this!!! You explained it so easily, I understood it perfectly well again even without replaying the whole video again and again😇 I have learned about playing this way back highschool or elementary? Lol I think HS, forgot about it now,,,, so happy I found your vid on my first search!😇
Can you move cards to the discard pile? Like If there's an black 8 on top of the discard pile, can you move a red 7 there? And can you play those 2 cards at once afterwards?
No. You can only take cards out of the wastepile in this game. You can't add more cards to it and use it as another tableau pile. Some games, however, allow just that: you can pack cards onto the wastepile from elsewhere in the layout. Most only allow you to move the top card of the wastepile, but at least one game-Six By Six-allows group moving.
I have seen other 'rules' too, so created my own. I don't bring cards down from the foundation, and once my draw pile is locked up (same few cards in rotation) I go to a twice-only draw of every card in the waste pile with each card a must-play. My win/loss ratio makes these changes acceptable (I lose often enough) ..
I have that problem too, I just went through the deck and picked all the Aces because even when the guy was setting up the game there were no aces on the top. But in the next slide they are all there
AI'Janat Oshodi First of all, I'm still confused as fuck, secondly, I called them dumbo, not dumb :3 Also, to me it was necessary. And my friend who where with me whilst writing that. Its just how we are :p
