This was very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the lengthy explanation at the start of the science behind it.

So in addition to being super fit, Hunter's competition need to have a mad scientist on payroll? Its gonna be tough for them.

Hello Hunter! What would be your best time in 10k with your current weight? I hope to be able to prepare a Hyrox, my 10k mark is 35.40 but weighing 10 kilos less than now😁. Thank you and congratulations for the videos!!

The initial testing that you have the metabolism of a chick. Makes sense because you’re a machine. You’re in tune so deeply that your body SAVES caloric expenditure and burn when it can. Imagine if you were burning so much when just relaxing? You’d be cooked. So your body has adapted to the workload and volume of work and intensity you put on it. You’re a big cat, tiger, that has to endure the long miles too. Interesting workload calls for your body to do interesting things!

Great videos, but saying gluconeogenesis is breaking down of Muscle to make glucose is a misleading way of explaining it.
The major substrates of gluconeogenesis are lactate, glycerol, and glucogenic amino acids. With lactate being the prefered substrate.
So glucogenic amino acids (protien) is one of the substrates it can use - and usually it would be using protien in your diet, but could come from breaking down muscle
However our bodies start releasing ketones in low carb situations, and the body will use ketones in preference to gluconeogenesis.
But gluconeogenesis is always happening regardless of your diet.
I eat a high protien, high fat, nearly zero carb diet. I just did a VO2Max test and my oxygen exchange ratio was around 0.7 well into the test - so utilising fat for energy up to quite a high effort level.
My body weight is 60% muscle mass - so definitely not losing muscle because of gluconeogenesis.

Sudden 6 minute improvement for James Kelly. I think anabolic and blood doping may be the reason why....
