One thing I like about your videos that other craftsmen often don't include is that you give the weight of the leather you are using for a project. For newbies like me, all of the patterns and instruction is great. But it can turn into a mess quick if you are working with the wrong weight. There are a lot of videos out there that cruise right through the instruction without giving the weight. Thanks for the details.
I had someone ask me to make a wallet that looks exactly like this. (it was one she bought at Walmart). I was nervouse because of the zipper aspect. But your video gives me all the confidence AND the pattern is only $4!!! Yes sir!!! Thank you so much 💜
I am so Happy, You made my day! Till now, I /starter in leather work was searching for this wallet style to get a tutorial on UA-cam to build my own one. I bought from Fossil this wallet style around 10years ago, but they did not pick up and produce this style, again. I loved my one, it was unique, an eye catcher and handy. The zipper broke two years ago, but I fixed it somehow. Unfortunately the zipper broke completely/ this is a wick spot and I put the wallet finally on the side. Your clip/tutorial and style is really unique and timeless. Your clips are just a great input for leather works! A Hello & Danke schön from FRA!
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, great design Eric, your videos R amazing now thst you R talking, I believe a beginner will B really helped by you, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Your videos are great because you take time to focus on the fundamental skills for beginners. I'm interested in furniture reupholstery. Is that something you could recommend resources for or even make a video on? Thanks!
Wishlist item... Mens wallet as slim as can be 10 card wallet with at least 2 of the cards easy access, and then space for some not folded notes... ps thanks for sharing all these awesome instructionals.
excellent tutorial as always. Do you use the same thread weight. across most projects, or does the leather weight define the type and thickness of the thread you choose?
Great pattern, great tutorial, and I really like the design. I will purchase the pattern shortly. Why however did you use the curved end punch to make an impression on the leather, and then cut it manually with the knife? Why not just continue with that punch. That didn't make sense to me.
I made a wallet yesterday out of white and red leather, and I tried folding the leather, meaning instead of burnishing I skived the leather down and I folded it to give the wallet edges a perfect finish with the same colour instead of burshining. But it takes alot of time and patience.
Thank you for your Content. I'm learning so much. I bought the Tri-Fold Long Wallet Pattern. Do u reckon it would fit inside the middle of the Tri-Fold Long Wallet as a kinda clip in Wallet? So if u need not that much for example to carry with u that u could take this instead of the Tri-Fold. Love your Content! Greets from Germany
Either change your stitch size or adjust the pattern to work for you. Patterns are made for the way he does his work, so minor changes might need to be done to conform to you.
To be completely honest, I feel like that button would be uncomfortable in a front pocket. I guess this is more for people who carry their wallet in handbags/bags.
@@Corter Uhhh... I've been using a longboi bifold as a front pocket wallet for years now. I guess I've been doing it wrong? :P Or I have unusually long pockets. I'm a jeans guy so that could be it. I like it because it's pretty thin and can still hold all the cards, cash (unfolded!), paper and documents I need. Plus it appears to be some kind of genuine leather, since it's lasting me longer than the cheap plastic "leather" one I used to have. And thanks for all the videos!
@@Corter I'd love if you covered some of the other leathers and their use-cases, like kangaroo leather, pigskin, etc... (Everyone already covered Cordovan) The internet seems to love how durable and thin Kangaroo is, so it looks like a perfect material for a very thin but still long-lasting wallet.
I have what may be a stupid question... When you were making the strap for the front. It looks like you used an end punch to make a template for the rounded end, but then cut it with a craft knife? Instead of punching it. Just wondering if that’s what happened and curious as to why.
yep! the hide was on the tough side so i just made an indentation with the strap end punch to guide my xacto around that curve - sometimes i do that not even thinking, it helps :)
I don't any leather work, but find your videos so super satisfying.

I built along with you on this wallet using chrome-taned leather that I harvested from a couch.

I think this is going to be my first project....I'm.ready.....in my mind, lol.

Did I see Blockbuster Video membership cards? Awesome, I worked at one after high school! 😆

Hey friend ever consider fabricating a leather tool roll for some hand tools like chisels ect. ?
Muito bom, gostei, parabéns!

So, I'm late to the game here, but is there a way to install snaps that isn't a table top press situation? Like, is it doable by hand?
Hey man, loving the work. What thickness leather are you using there?

17:00 *nice place to store my Bockbuster cards*
What type of glue do you use for attaching the leather before you start stitching?
Very good!
I've bought a couple of your patterns but the card pockets measurements doesn't really work for 4mm or 3.85mm stitching holes. :(

If you’re wandering he uses a 5mm diamond
@@wilsonmiller1903 yes i just got 5mm irons for his patterns :)
Thank you Master! Please tell the thickness of the leather in millimeters (mm). Many thanks! Like from AZE 🇦🇿
Nice!!!
What kind do stitch are you using Thanks
👍👍👍👏👏👏
How if use magnet button for snap...?
👏👏👏👍👍👍
What do the dotted lines mean
What number is the needle and thread!!?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Who makes that brass xacto knife?
we do :) coming soon
Why is it so important to skive, and what kind of glue do you use?!
Hehe. Childish comment warning. The pull tab on the zip says Titi
It says "Riri" which is the company who makes the zipper :)

yea, it's almost 7" long so I don't think it's really a front pocket type wallet
