@@Zeal846 , I will never understand the logic that because alcohol is an extremely dangerous and damaging drug that other dangerous and damaging drugs should be therefore legalised and made more readily available. Pretty simple to ban it in legislation. But just look how effective that policy is for all illegal drugs. Only an idiot would not see that illegality creates all the problems associated with drug use for the wider public. It would be a far better idea to ensure safe supply and good healthcare provision. The tax could be ringfenced to provide the healthcare and its far better in the hands of the state (assuming they don't piss it all up the wall like they did with COVID), than it is in the hands of organised and disorganised crime.

It's not that they can't keep weed off the streets, it's that the police and courts gave up with it decades ago, so de facto decriminalised.

I am prescribed medical cannabis to manage my anxiety, and my wife also uses it to alleviate symptoms of her multiple sclerosis. We obtain it from a private clinic here in the UK, costing us around £400 every two months. While this option provides relief, I’ve considered growing my own plants, which would yield more for a fraction of the cost. It’s perplexing that while I’m permitted to pay a pharmaceutical company for medication, I’m not allowed to cultivate it myself, the corruption in this country is rife.

Dismissed by pain clinics because "they can't help me" - consultants "don't deal with medication or prescriptions" - the meds can't be adjusted by a gp as they're controlled. I'm barely living. To say I am in pain every day is an understatement, I can barely do anything. I lose feeling in my legs. I can't do many things myself and even "pleasure" has been lost. As a Psychology student I can also share peer reviewed research papers which go against your opinion. Medicinal Cannabis (Not CBD) helps bring people back in to their parasympathetic nervous system, which is a tremendous benefit for people who have severe trauma. Trauma is stored in the body and in the nervous system, and this is effective for PTSD and other neurological disorders like Epilepsy.
Medical Cannabis won't cure someone of PTSD, but it can make life with chronic mental health issues or chronic pain more managable

Weed smokers don't deny this because they like weed, they deny it because its a fact. "Billions in taxes". Nailed it. THAT is the reason for legalisation. And only that.
I'll just keep using it illegally. As I have for decades.
Another WEF cash cow, but younger wouldn't beable to smoke , so i guess some tax will be needed .
Unfortunately I can't see the UK ever legalising Cannabis.
It’s not good to take hallucinogenic drugs full stop. Portland (USA) is an example of how to get it wrong.
Ganja is very beneficial to the body and mind, dare say the spirit and soul.
Nope, it's bad for all that, but morons keep using it, and won't stop, so give the morons a legal way with some limitations.
It's actually a demonic drug that masquerades as something beneficial.
A small percentage suffer mental health from cannabis.
Compare that to while under the influence of alcohol.
Isn’t it ironic that in a country where they want to ban smoking, they suddenly want to legalise smoking mind altering drugs. People still get cancer from smoking drugs and with the other added relatable problems I wonder how the NHS will cope (seeing as they can’t cope already with smoking, so we’re told).
People should remember people like the man in glasses, because when it’s all goes wrong, people like him are nowhere to be found to blame for their irresponsibility and the problems they will cause tomorrow’s families.
So smoking tobacco is bad but smoking weed is fine?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s all about the carcinogens that are present in the tobacco, especially in cigarettes. Although definitely not beneficial for the lungs there is no evidence of it doing any lasting damage
Tobacco causes cancer Cannabis cures it.
@@kingvill100 UK GOVERNMENT WEED IS TOXIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And in my experience most users, not all, smoke it with tobacco. It’s win win for the government and the tobacco industry and any industry producing or selling cannabis.
That said, I think individuals should make their own decisions not governments….
There are some of the same compounds in weed smoke as cigarette smoke known to cause cancer , just no one done the research yet , doubtful anyone would provide funding !
This needs to happen, the revenue would be astronomical.
America 🇺🇸 Holland 🇳🇱
Germany 🇩🇪 Spain 🇪🇸
Canada 🇨🇦 Portugal 🇵🇹…… the list go’s on.
Antiquated laws are holding our economy back in this instance.
UK GOVERNMENT WEED IS TOXIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to make something clear. Cannibis can only still be bought in Germany from either the black market, or from a chemist if you have the medical license for reasons of terminal illness or chronic pain. The quality from the black market WILL still be questionable and sometimes dangerous! The next stage would be to legalize the selling of cannibis in shops, which could be regulated. There is, however, the biggest problem. An EU directive forbids that! Nothing has really changed; the police didn't really care here about weed anyway (exceptin being Bavaria).
57 yrs old used cannabis since the 80s always got up for work, brought up to kids in their 20s & 30s now. No mental health issues. Made some good investments and retired at 55. Cannabis isn’t for everyone but neither is Alcohol!!
Nobody needs weed legalised. There is literally zero point, as we already live like it’s legal.
Nobody will buy overpriced weed with tax on top.
Dealers will still thrive.
If they legalise, it will be for the sake of another tax cash in.
I was in Detroit not long ago, the weed shop had a waiting line every time I went, very expensive weed, armed guards for the delivery van.
Goes beyond that people can’t do it because of testing at work, it’s a case of human rights been given back
illegal weed is treated with carcinogenic PGRs, ornamental-only pesticides, industrial pesticides and fungides at very high levels and possibly sprayed with synthetic cannabinoids and bulking agents.
Cannabis does less harm than alcohol and tobacco. If one is banned then they should all be banned. Hitchens talks nonsense.
He always talks nonsense. Nothing new.
@AnnmarieOhare-xi5ce I regularly take month long breaks or longer so yes.

Whataboutism....you cant ban alcohol. It's been established for centuries.
