Amazing they pulled it off. Arguably Gram's greatest song and they did his memory proud. Believe the drums were alittle much, but why quibble with the outstanding jazzy vocals and the superb back-up. Then sadly, it just ended.
I'm from Meridian, Ms and Chris Ethridge was my best friend from the day I met him. My music brother.....and I miss him so much. Mr. Malo you have the most amazing voices that I've ever heard. You did Chris proud. Thank you Sandy Rainer
Thank you, Corney O’Connell of Wfuv radio for always playing this for me after a long hard night of ‘After Hours’ work to help heal my heart- sadness needs sad songs…. God Bless!
I love Raul and the Mavs. But this song reached it pinnacle when performed by Elvis Costello. Check out his version called I'm your toy. Amazing to see a one time punk/new wave artist holding his own with a full orchestra, and putting some real feeling into this brilliant song.
99.9% certain that's Greg Leisz, though he's not getting a lot of screen time here. From seeing other videos from the same show, and googling it, pretty definitely him. Amazing steel player, and has played in a lot of different styles. Also plays dobro, banjo, guitar, etc. Wikipedia says that "Sneaky Pete" was one of his inspirations, so has to be nice to play on this one.

Love Gram and the Mavericks but Oh my that drummer 🙉
This song is just sooo good. I want Gram inducted into the Hall of Fame! Mavericks did a great job. ❤
This is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written. And beautiful rendition by The Mavericks!
Oh my God, Gram Parsons was a king. This is one of the best renditions that Gram would have appreciated.

Mr. Raoul Malo is a songbird. One of those guys who was just born to sing. He can sing anything. And he's sexy as hell! Sandy Rainer
Outstanding performance!! World Class...
Gold.
This might one of those cases where a cover becomes the definitive version.
It is part of a fantastic tributer, after all.
Elvis Costello. I'm your toy. Check it out. So much feeling in his performance. I promise that you won't be disappointed.
Was lucky to be in the studio audience for this! Sadly, the old Sony Music studios are condos now.
An incredible song, performed incredibly by an incredible band. Thank you, Gram, for your music. Thank you, Mavericks, for keeping it alive.
A really good rendition, bravo boys.
Love the use of the drum loop, with the drummer coming in and out of the song. This was a thing in the late 90's to mix in loops, etc.
The drummer said “to hell with this love song”.
😅🤣😂
Distracting and not appropriate.
Lol maybe he thought it was a John Bonham tribute and thought they said moby dick instead of the mavericks!
He really did barf all over what sounded like a good rendition otherwise.
This song is so beautiful. It ranks with the greatest love songs of all time !!!! The Mavericks do a beautiful rendition...
My favorite Gram Parsons song done by my favorite band, The Mavericks. The best!!!!
Thank you for keeping Gram's music alive.
Good lord! This amazing voice just gives me goosebumps! What incredible pipes Raul Malo has! And this song is one of my favorites.
I don't care what anybody says this is just pure genius and class.
Been listening to Raul singing this a lot tonight. Next best to seeing him Live at that fantastic Amphitheater!
I adore this song…
Me too
Still my fave song- since I was introduced to it, after Raul’s solo show, 2/2 NYC
Beautiful
Best cover of this ever!
Costello......
Gene Clark...
Good Stuff Great Sound !
My new fave song!!!
Well, this guy is a fabulous singer too.
Great song, great performance. Lucky to have been there!
I was, too!
Raul does a kick ass version on a Nashville album it’s awesome
Thank you, Corney O’Connell of Wfuv radio for always playing this for me after a long hard night of ‘After Hours’ work to help heal my heart- sadness needs sad songs…. God Bless!
I like that drum beat
The drummer liked it a little too much I think.
¡Excelente!
That snare is killing me
I love Raul and the Mavs.

Thank you! ❤❤❤
Gram Parsons couldn't do this much to this song!
Thanks, Mark! Find me and friends in the audience :)
That drummer needs to be shut up immediately
Who is joining the band on pedal steel?

Drummer: “Look at me being as distracting as I can be.”
Jeez the drummer was a little (a lot) heavy handed…
Smooth on vox ¿
What the hell is that drummer doing? 😳
The drum track can't be legit. Is this a joke?
What's up with the overbearing drums ? Way to ruin a great song.
