A layer of any mulch as thin as being shown is ineffective at weed suppression. Rather than using it as an ineffective mulch, use it as a major carbon source in your composting, where it is very effective. Or learn about mushroom cultivation and get into the moderately complex process of growing edible mushrooms. You aren't wrong about using sawdust for that, but it's a significant undertaking to do it properly. Also - computer generated voice narration is always a bad choice :(
I assume you are only talking about sawdust from tree trimming and such in an organic yard? Sawdust from the lumberyard may have a ton of chemicals in it.

Yes, definitely not from a lumberyard. Lumberyard sawdust might have chemicals in it.
