@@lossantoscity3249 nukeproof horizon wheels are great bang for your buck. My first set I got from them had broke on a huge case and I’m like 250 pounds. I think the the spokes were under tensioned or something was off because I’ve done worse to this set and their still true and tensioned

Like comparable to industry 9 in many ways at a fraction of the price. So far I love it. Only had it on for 2 weeks. I like that I can upgrade from the HG CASSETTE mount to a microspline eventually when I upgrade my drive train to a 12 speed. There are allot of things that made me happy to spend a little extra over the neutron rear wheel.
For $151 a rim, this is a killer deal. I am a big fan of DT swiss stuff. I replaced my Bontrager line comp 30 rear rim with an ex511 after the bonty blew up, and the ex511 has been bulletproof ever since. Seriously considering these now as I am by no means easy on my wheels.
First ride 2 days ago of a brand new mullet FR541 wheelset (DT 350 hubs), with Maxxis Assegai DH casing, Tannus Armour tubless inserts, and 26 psi. I broke it. Dented the rear rim through a rock garden at speed and now need a new rear wheel.
how was it laced? The spokes etc? sometimes this can have a big impact. Very curious. Looking at purchasing those and you are the first I read who seems to have dented/broken these hahah. I ride DH at MSA Quebec all summer. Want to put these on a Devinci Wilson 2020 29 incher
DT Swiss is no joke. I've been running DT Swiss rims forever with my current set of EX511's. The EX511's are BULLET PROOF and I love them. Now, I wanna build another set with the FR541's after seeing this. Might as well have two sets of DT's being the EX511's and the FR541's. Thanks Fanatik Bike Co. for your awesome videos.
@@clappedclipco The EX511 is regarded as a ridiculously tough wheel. That doesn't make it impossible to break, but at the end of the day there are plenty of people satisfied with it, and as long as it holds up to most abuse then you're fine. If you're constantly breaking wheels, then that's a you problem and you need to figure out why you are the failure point.
Rode FR560 for 3 years just hobby/bikepark 80kg rider .... havent had to true the rim at all like even the spokes were stiff as rock. DT wheels are just next level.
I currently run a 471 on the back of my v2 bronson and it is running strong. Lots of rock flicks and chips, but no dents. I wont replace it until it dies and would actually consider rebuilding it onto a chris king hub. Probably run a 511 on the front in the future. Alloy rims tend to bend/buckle when carbon stay pretty straight. When you can get 6 of these rims for 1 decent carbon rim, it makes carbon a difficult choice
I have a set of ex511 on hope hubs hand made. I was 145kg of weight and rode them hard they true as they can be. dtswiss has nothing to prove. They're best rims money can buy. I also owe spank set of wheels and they're just as good 👌🏻🔥
What i would like to see next is some soft toss rocks at the wheel. Simulate like when your buddy runs over the corner of a rock and somehow it gets flung in the air, and it comes down landing on your wheel. It has happened a few times to my buddies and I.
I have their FR1950 on my Supreme DH and they've been fantastic! Great review to see how well made DT Swiss is. I feel the same about I9. I have their aluminum rims on my trail bike and they've been great as well. I keep saying I want carbon once I break them...... 4 years and still waiting :D
That is insane! I have some dtswiss e1900 that ive had trouble with even running 35+psi still dinging rim tube or tubeless. This looks like a better option than going cush core

Maxxis seems to get out of true, but it usually takes me 4 to 6 months to get them really wobbly, but many were slightly twisted when new. But I do do wha tyou did. But eventually all of my Maxxis tyres got wobbly. But I am on Michelin Wild Enduro now, they stayed true. Also thread pattern matched left to right, Maxxis all were between 2 and 4 mm offset. Also bead failed at the end, I swapped before it blew, good I inspect, and look for bad things, but the Michelin's bead might even run another season, if it was not for the knobs being worn, and cut in sidewall and cracks everywhere, including sidewall. But they outlasted the Maxxis bead. So I am keen to see how the Wild Enduro Race will do.
A friend of mine ran the Michelin Enduro for a while. The side knobs started to break away but they went beforehand trough alot of abuse (hot car and a skilled heavy rider). I usually run the Schwalbe Magic Mary super gravity. Never had any issues but i need to replace the front tire after a long season because the knobs are just cut up into pieces. Also really cheap (40€)
@@notparanoid912 Michelin tyres wear faster on the knobs than Maxxis, I rode these less than the Maxxis tyres but wore it faster, but the bead was like new, where as Maxxis would look like I went crazy with sandpaper on it. So seems like a safer tyre as I won't have a tyre blow up, Looks like I won't be needing to check the bead after few months. Schwalbe look promising, by looking at the thread pattern, side knobs. So keen to try them, but been out of stock anyway. So ended up getting some more Wild Enduro second hand barely used. I am writing a review. So I will go in detail there.
I've dinged 3 rims this season. All mid level rims. Bontrager, wtb... I was considering carbon but, when I saw this video and It gave me that little bit of hope for alloy rims. I think I will go with this as my next rim choice.
Should have tried bunny hop 180s or more like 140s or so that always fucks up my wheels. Still really dope video thinking about getting some myself now. 👍
After Aaron Gwin's legendary run, if i dare say so myself, i got my self a set of Ex471 almost immediately, which i then later upgrade to the ex511. I'? Pretty sure the Ex and FR line are pretty much indestructible lol

That just is not a big deal, we were doing that with Matrix single-track Wheels 25 years ago, thrashing them down South Mountain in Phx, completely flat or no tire at all over sharp edge rocks for miles. It's great that DT Swiss has been able to recreate something that existed 25 or 30 years ago

A lot of folks like the ride-feel that CushCore gives a tire, and it can help prevent punctures in the tire itself, so if he falls into those categories, yea! Rocky trails in particular love to pinch the tire against the rim and poke holes in em, so cushcore might be nice. Hope that helps! - Dan P.

How much difference do you think putting the wheel on a hardtail would make with no suspension softening up the impact that gravity has between the surface of the earth and the tire? Especially with the huck to flat test. Good video!
@@BenSch100 I (coming from an 80's bmx bike background) have gone through a few rims due to accidents and an unnamed gentleman who showed me a trick called a taco. ACS wheels. Were supposed to bend back. Womp womp. Looking for that decent wheel that won't break the bank and still be light. Trying to build up a Mongoose Ledge X1 and have something that won't cost more than my car. Haha! We used to jump these near 7 ft tall dirt quarter pipe ramps that didn't quite go to vert....and it plateaued like the top of a table top jump... lots of us were 8 ft plus in the air and landing with no suspension....fun times!! Now those are gone and houses are in the location. 😔

Is this a replacement for the FR560 or another model in the lineup? They're the same price. I had a set of FR560s built in June and have been very happy with them. I've only ever seen one FR560 fail an that was on youtube, dude landed his front wheel sideways off one of the bigger Dirt Merchant jumps and managed to taco an FR560 he managed to walk away from the crash pretty unscathed

I just got these rims and the rear one was bent within 2 weeks. Bike shops been telling these rims are less durable than like Stans flows. They see them getting fucked up on just normal single track. Idk how you guys ended up with a wheel that durable
Hi guys, I am riding on an agressive hardtail and got many damages on my rear wheel, this one may do the job! Maybe it would be a great idea to try to kill it again on big jumps on a hadtail for next video ;-)

Havent been to impressed with the fr560. Within 3 weeks i managed to get 2 fat dents into the backrim as a 60kg rider without running low pressure. The NewMen EG30 been way stronger in my case but im pumped to get my hands on these new FRs.

Great to see testing like this, and that DT released a new robust rim. You should test the other DT rims and test other brands too.

u should have tested it on a hard tail because a lot of the brutal impact forces are muffled by the forks and shock

Havent been to impressed with the fr560. Within 3 weeks i managed to get 2 fat dents into the backrim as a 60kg rider without running low pressure.
The NewMen EG30 been way stronger in my case but im pumped to get my hands on these new FRs.
