TheWiggy is definitely misunderstood. Mainly because you must have the footswitch connected or else you will not be able to access all of the tones. By default it has the Hazard lights on which gives you access to the fuzz circuit but won't let you fully clean up your guitar. When the hazard lights are off you can get some fantastic clean tones and slightly crunchy tones that work very well with single coil guitars. The eq section is very powerful and unique. It's worth exploring. Check my recommended settings in the manual. I think you'll be surprised by the variety of tones you can coax from the amp.
Dweezil explained there is a footswitch that goes with the amp that makes it clean. There is a fuzz on there that is default that can only be turned off with the footswitch.
Hey ! Thanks for the Wiggy review, I’m one of your followers requesting this video. I only have Peavey amps, 5150 combo classic30 and classic chorus. They have never let me down. Love the channel and lessons
Love this amp... I rarely notice anything in the background of videos, but about 2 years ago I noticed this one in one of your videos... Just excellent execution in terms of layout
Your take on this amp is spot on in my opinion. I acquired one of these despite being wary of the absence of tubes. Well worth the time to explore; fun pedal platform. Eccentric look. I love mine
Oh I forgot to mention that I would definitely enjoy more videos like this from you. Just my 2 cents, but I really enjoy learning about and hearing different amps....or any other gear you have and want to share, fun stuff. Take care
Hi, I tried one, very clear folks thought it was a fancy poser, no way, it sounded real good. Very few amps I like in first 10 seconds. Folks saw it as a gimmik, I saw a darn well built amp, never ever had a Pevey quit on me, 30 yrs gigging, started with one Bandit 60, then 2, then Stereo Chorus, then two. I regret selling those, but I broke my '96, that has a way of separating someone from their gear. Be well.
Frank recorded a lot of his best stuff using just a Pignose Amp. There's video of him playing one live on the Mike Douglas show and the sound is incredible!
I absolutely LOVE this amp! Tried it out years ago & the on-board parametric eq can help you sculpt some gery unique tones. The owners manual actually lists suggestions as well to achieve "Dweezil" tones as well. Not your atypical amp, but with some careful tweaking, one can get some fantastic spinds out of it.
It was inspired by the Aston Martin Lagonda. I saw a video 2 days ago with Dwezzil about this amp. He said there was a footswitch you needed to take the fuzz sound out of it and make it sound better and the amp got a bad reputation because of lot of people didn't know about that and didn't buy the footswitch.
Yeh! I saw that. Dweezil is such a cool dude. I have a regular foot switch that works with this amp and turns off the hazard lights. I was happy when I found out it worked.
When i was trying to learn guitar many years ago i bought a used peavy amp. It was big and loud but i didn't know how to use it or play. I stayed with bass. Now i love guitar.
I remember when this came out back in the day the VTM series was released at the same time as well. I bought the vtm stack. I still play out of the cabinets. The head is long gone. The vtm was the series it came out right before the infamous 5150.
Did you happen to get this amp second hand? Mine had a lot of the same rips in the tolex when I got finally got rid of it! Owned it from new and gigged out with it a lot hahaha I think I finally parted with it in like 2013?
That amp is definitely different. Please do a video on the amp. You have that lights up inside of it If you have already done a video for it I have not been able to find myself but I have always been curious as to what kind of amp that is
Good morning, buddy. Interesting little amp. Odd, used amplifiers have been my latest big thing to look at online. I've have found a few different Epiphone Tube Amplifiers that are pretty affordable online, mostly at GC. When I can I may get one. I got a like new Stage Right 15w tube amp last year. It was pretty decent, especially for $160 right? I finally got around to upgrading my tubes....TUNGSOL 12AX7 Pre Amp and a matching set of Electro Harmonix Power Tubes. Man,it really opened that 12" Speaker up. I actually love it now,Blues Jr "ish" but I believe my gain and break/saturation is a bit more accessible,by my playing style. Just wanted to share, first time I'd messed with trying to make an Amp better.
You know you can't go wrong when The Wiggy is next to two Fried mans and an Egg nater bracketed by a Carvin lol omg it's bacon and fried eggs - the breakfast episode!
"my readers". I'm going to call them that from now on. I've got to that age where I now curse "why do they make the ****ing writing so small"😁 I don't mind the sound of that amp and the adjustments it offers. A tube screamer, tape delay, a bit of reverb, you could add whatever you wanted with the effects loop. And it does look Cool as, Love the lights...
I remember working at a guitar store when this came in…….i was thinking…..”wtf is this!?!” Tried it out….could not get any good tones out of it. It had that slight fuzz thing going on I didn’t dig. Now I find out it needed the footswitch to sound good. Looked pretty cool though….
I dig it. I like peavey amps i just don’t like Marc. I know Marc and he’s just one of those guys that you don’t like alot but they are in your circle of friends. But alot of their amps up until they shut down their Meridian location were hand made almost boutique style amps. I like the more or less adjustments lol. That’s cool. Now im gonna have to get me one of amps.
I'm very familiar with p v amps and especially PA systems I'm an 80s guy but I can't say I've ever seen one of those before I miss that along the way. I remember diesel Zappa download video he had on MTV in the 80s and his sister Moonbeam or something like that. And I know who Frank Zappa is. But I don't think I've ever heard of Frank Zappa song I'm here heard some of those weird guitar work. He's a little out there for me. I honestly couldn't tell you one song I ever released I think he's kind of more like Steve Vai if I'll be a good guitar player and what he does but nobody buys his music cuz it's too bizarre cool looking guitar amp though
So this thing doesn't do high gain at all. Glad I didn't buy one at guitar center back in the early 2000s when these came out. I was thinking about it because it looked cool.
Its too bad peavey fell off. Used to be a huge US company. Growing up my dadmwas in country bands and there was peavey everything. Then the 5150 was amazing. It's sad they did the hiden boss show crap and just went all to hell. I guess it happened to most US companies though.

Just read somewhere that they only made about 1000 of these. Hard to believe. My local music shop had one back in the day. Always liked the look.
Yeh they were pretty unpopular but they are super cool. I think the 1000 or less quality is accurate.

Thanks for the rundown. Sounds pretty nice.

And Frank didn't drive. He was driven everywhere.
1967 was the last time he was in a DMV
Well… this ain’t about Frank. It’s Dweezil.
I have a Wiggy with 2 cabs. Love it.

Great video, neat amp history, keep up great work🤘🏻
I remember when you got it! 😊Thanks Marty 🤘

That's a crazy amp it's worth having just for the novelty got the SG out man I'm sure loving mine it sounds so good to my ears cool vid Marty 🤘🎸👽
When i was trying to learn guitar many years ago i bought a used peavy amp. It was big and loud but i didn't know how to use it or play. I stayed with bass. Now i love guitar.
Oh man any amp content is good content.
Looks good, sound don't worry about, put it in the corner of your music room and look at it every so often.
That's wigged! 🤘 some serious pig nose tone when you hit the fuzz. It's awesome.
”I show you my wiggy” 😂
Hey, just trying to get some views lol!!! .... but then again ... it may drive away some views. 😂😂😂
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I’ve been watching for a long time. I appreciate the humour 🤣 dad jokes welcome. Always

That is a cool looking amp! 🤘
Far out and groovy man!
Classic Aston Martin was the car
Last few times I saw Dweezil, he was using an Axe Fx 3 😂 I’m glad you’re showing your amps. Can you demo that Legacy?
I remember when it came home!
Did you happen to get this amp second hand? Mine had a lot of the same rips in the tolex when I got finally got rid of it! Owned it from new and gigged out with it a lot hahaha I think I finally parted with it in like 2013?
I was wondering about this also! Thanks for the demo and showing!

80’s Aston Martin…👍🏼
It is modeled after an Ashton Martin dash board.
I remember working at a guitar store when this came in…….i was thinking…..”wtf is this!?!” Tried it out….could not get any good tones out of it. It had that slight fuzz thing going on I didn’t dig. Now I find out it needed the footswitch to sound good. Looked pretty cool though….
From these dry sounds in video, should sound amazing with FX.
Awesome
I seem to remember that the car was an Aston Martin, but I may have made that up! 🤪
Did these come in different colors ? I could swear i saw a pink one in an ad .
Not to my knowledge. All the same color and like 1000 made.
I was hoping you'd play Electric Hoedown by Dweezil.
Astin Martin instrument panel I believe
An old Aston Martin...
And you need the footswitch!
Is that SG new?
Yeh man!

Before "The Oven" plugin!
A Bently I believe I heard Dweezil say
Aston Martin

Aston Martin
You need an EVH Stealth 100w
Astin Martin
Yes!
Austin Martin Dashboard
It was based on an Aston Martin
It looks like C-3PO 😂
Lol
I want a Wiggy and driving sucks
The scratchy audio happening while you move around and the microphone is annoying
Yeh man. I hate when I have tech issues.
I'm pretty sure this was the start of the transtube amps from peavey.
Transtube appeared in 1995. This amp came out around 2000. I had a transtube bandit from the first run. I miss that thing.
@user-oy7gz5bf2h I ended up getting the silverstripe and redstripe transtubes. They both are amazing sounding. I changed the speakers
Peace
I have one but I am selling it if anyone’s interested. Listing on Reverb soon.

Im sorry. I don't mean to be the a-hole in the comments but this amp sounds horrible. Im just being honest.
That is the worst amp I've ever heard in my entire life
No, it's not as good as that....
