- Awkwafina described to Ellen how her grandma left during a screening of her movie, but after telling that story on TV, her beloved grandma now makes it a point to see all of Awkwafina's films. The comedian also shared that her cat taught itself how to use the toilet, and what it’s like receiving critical recognition for her role in "The Farewell."

I noticed that Ellen is cheerful,fun,loose and funny only when she actually like the guest. She behave differently when she feel like the person is beneath her, like she isn't that big of a star in her point of view. She's talking like she doesn't care. Saying your amazing like she doesn't mean it.
Exactly. When guests are renowned or widely considered physically attractive, she treats them better than others, which is sad considering Ellen is supposed to be one of the classier tv hosts. I hope someone points this out to Ellen as constructive feedback to be better. More interviews like this aren't helping her.

Don't let Ellen's attitude here, put you off from seeing "The Farewell" (the movie Awkwafina starred in) It is AMAZING! "The Farewell" is one of the best films I've seen in years. I laughed, I cried ... I learnt some things about Chinese culture and also realized that my family handled my Grandma passing in a similar way. It's a beautiful film, every step of the way. Essential viewing for anyone dealing with loss or the death of a loved one. Well done Awkwafina! She deserves many accolades for her role.

Actually the grandma never passed….she has lived and lived and going strong! That’s a movie every one should watch especially if a doctor tells them their family member is dying or at the EOL.

I remember Awkwafina when she first started UA-cam videos years ago. She has come a long way and has managed to accomplish the unthinkable in such a short matter of time. I can't even imagine being in her shoes. It's a lot to take in. I love her awkwardness because she's being herself and not what is expected of her.

I watched The Farewell a month after my grandma had passed away and I had the whole screening room in the cinema to myself to cry out loud. The movie was so honest and so heartfelt. I come from an asian family too and when my grandma's death was approaching they didn't even want to tell her but one of her daughters told her so she got to say goodbye to all of us and I think it's better that way. The grandma in the movie didn't get to say goodbye to her own granddaughter and that bit in the movie broke me down. It made me reflect on my relationship with my grandma and made me grateful that I had the chance to say goodbye to her.
And she actually won a Golden Globe... Love Awkwafina!

Ellen is sooo done with her own show! She doesn’t have the love and passion like she use to. These interviews are just horrible lately & I love Ellen .
It might hve to do w the negative feedback she's been getting via social media . Probably hurt tht ppl actually feel tht way about her and is trying to get through each interview as best she can , but the depression is likely still there . A personal battle brought to her workplace , kinda like wht Wendy Williams was going through w her husband (or ex husband) at home .
Awkwafina is usually okay with other interviewers or talk show hosts (the relatable, awkward and dry sense-of-humor kind) but this one with Ellen doesn't sit well with me.

Not trying to tell my life story out here but that Farewell movie touched me so deep. I lived in China for a year and a couple of months and I was very very “homesick” so I decided to watch the movie. And boy I cried, cried, cried 😭
