TLG (The Lego Group) commonly plans out these themes of theirs for three years/seasons ahead. In actuality, it had been exactly the same with Ninjago back in the day; it got even temporarily *cancelled (or rather 'not renewed') for a year before someone at TLG did the math and the theme then returned after the hiatus for a fourth season and is, of course, with us to this very day.
      * - Its replacement was actually the Legends of Chima.

Personally I think the theme’s really resonating with the aimed for younger demographic. I’ve talked with a surprising amount of kids at my job who have actually watched and loved the show, so I’m gonna hold out hope because I also enjoy this theme a lot!

    • @angelmusic6147
      @angelmusic6147 17 днів тому +9

@DDLCman1117 I mean, that’s what you’ve seen, but for the most part, on my side of the internet, the worst I’ve see talked about Dreamzzz is just “it’s ok, just not for me”. Plus, again, in my real life experience talking to kids (my job works with them a lot), I’ve personally talked to a bunch who absolutely love Dreamzzz, so I think, while it might have mixed reactions with older crowds, the kiddos (the target demographic) are a slam dunk. This is all my own personal experience.
Not to mention the ratings from S1 to S2 have only gone up, so the theme is objectively improving as it goes along.

@@angelmusic6147I was a kid In the chima demographic days. Chima resonated with me a lot, I would ask my dad for chima over Star Wars or DC without a thought. I can believe Dreamzzz is pretty popular with kids

Season 2 is more for kids then the first one. in the first one there is implication of characters dying

    • @angelmusic6147
      @angelmusic6147 15 днів тому +7

@@LucaCattozzo S2 also touches on themes of death, but also dives into some pretty mature topics for your average kids show. Parental abandonment (Zoey and Beau along with Izzie and Mateo with their mom), learning to accept a parent dating again (Jasmine), healing from grief (Zoey as well as the Never Witch), not to mention the implications that Cooper’s home life is bordering on abusive, if not just actually abusive. Also the fact there was a plotpoint where one character was brainwashed into trying to actively kill his best friend (Logan and Izzie in the doom-dome).
Also, I’m not just talking about the show being “for kids” when I say it’s getting better as it goes, the season and episode ratings are getting higher as you go into S2, so it’s clear the general consensus among viewers is that things are improving for the better with the show.

I swear this series better not fail. I miss the old days where Lego did their own original series instead of only making ideas sets to pander to adults. This series is the first original in a long time, and it might be my favorite they’ve ever done: encouraging creativity and rebuilding is what Lego is all about, and this series does it in a wonderful and playful way.

I think where Dreamzzz went wrong was by releasing such a big first wave with a ton of different characters. If they had started off with a smaller wave in April or May focusing on just Mateo, Izzie, and the Night Hunter, and then released a bigger August wave with sets for Cooper, Zoey, Mr. Oz, etc., and bringing forth the Nightmare King as the theme's big bad, it probably would've been much less overwhelming. Honestly it's a problem most Big Bang Themes had: Chima introduced 6 Tribes at once, Nexo Knights introduced 5 initiates at once, Ultra Agents had a lot of generic-feeling heroes... you get my point.
Personally I love LEGO Dreamzzz. It came out right as I was exiting my LEGO Dark Age, and it's gotta be my favorite original theme since Chima. I'm hoping against hope that LEGO will keep Dreamzzz around for a while longer to explore more new ideas and come up with a memorable climax that will make fans adore it for years to come.
Unfortunately, I can't ignore the writing on the wall - between the mediocre show and dropping sales numbers. If Dreamzzz does become the next checkmark on Ninjago's hitlist next year, I just hope it goes out with a bang.

As a kid I liked getting classic castle, space starting from blacktron 2, aquasharks, pirates, even paradisa sets (loved the pastel colours) and still own all of my childhood sets. I remember seeing the Time Cruisers sets revealed and found them to be offputting nonsense. All the themes I loved were simple concepts and made sense.
I see Dreamzzz sets and it reminds me of time cruisers and it's offputting to me for the same reasons so I can imagine kids feeling this way because, I did, as a kid. It's just random "stuff" with no logic or structure. The Monster Pirate Ship is the only set that I found really cool, everything else I wouldn't spend a penny on.
LEGO can't seem to shake off the idea that original themes need to be "weird" and "whacky" like the ill-fated Vidiyo or Hidden side.

Something we all need to know is that the TV show and the sets are very different things. The TV show is in my opinion terrible, at least if you compare it with Ninjago and Monkie Kid, I feel like every episode is boring and nothing really happens. About the sets though, the sets are pretty great because the sets are unique models we don’t really see in any other Lego theme. The sets has some great instruction art and the fact that you can build the set in different ways is also pretty cool. We can also see how the Lego group is going all in with this theme, we are getting new Dreamzzz seasons faster than Ninjago seasons and we get dual molding and side printing on most Dreamzzz minifigures as well. I do not know where Lego is going with their Lego Dreamzzz theme but it will probably fall soon because Ninjago is just better. Thanks for reading sorry that I made it this long but I had to speak.😅

Even though I've not bought any of the sets (i have no space left on shelves after too much Ninjago) I have to say that the story here is really interesting and well done. even the show.
when I head the Matteo was being voiced my MACRO of all people (he's a really cool content creator) and this was his first ever role? I was unsure. but honestly? he's nailing it. I'm really enjoying his performance.
even if the series doesnt stick around long. I think it did a good job in telling a good story. with some really cool and imaginative sets. something that helps make lego awesome.

Personally, I always felt the show never seemed to use the dream setting to its fullest potential. In the first episode, they show off a couple dream creations never seen again, and the show lacks seasonal gymmicks, unlike other shows. They show off the Crocodile Car only once or twice, despite it and the idea of Tandem Dreamcrafting having potential.

Okay, I watched all season on Netflix, my thoughts: season one was about matoe becoming an "aware dreamer"( because of that mateos siblings and friends can be an aware dreamer) and defeating the nightmare king. Season 2 was about Mateo, Izzy, Zoey, cooper, and Logan trying to defeat the Never Witch in one or more ways. I may not have watched every frame or heard every voice line but there are theories that I can come up with: 1. Matoe can use Lunia's Hourglass and we can see that Matoe's mother is gone, and Lunia is gone around the same time, so does that mean Lunia is Mateo's mother? 2. the nether Never Witch can take away memories from people, Ninjago dragons rise when the ninja finds Jay, and he loses all his memories, how? We are gonna need to watch the next season, but maybe there is a crossover(between Ninjago Dragons Rising and Dreams). I know that some people are gonna correct me, or tell me something I might have missed, so please do that, I appreciate that. Thank you

The problem with lego is the cost for a big piece count set. If they offered customers with an option to order online to just get the pieces they could make sets so much cheaper. I could care less about a box lol. They could even workout a deal with Amazon to make these types of sets exclusive and sell them cheap. Unfortunately lego has a reputation of wasting their money.

There's a few themes that I think are good that I personally don't have any interest in, except if I can use the set, prints, or pieces for other things. Like Harry Potter, I bought 2 Aragog sets for a potential dragon age moc. The problem I have with this theme is that while it's fun and creative, it's almost too whimsical for me to get any use out of.

i honestly hope that Dreamzzz lasts as an original lego theme, not as a show, but i still hope it lasts, it reminds me of some older themes, and makes me miss these sets that will usually have 2 in 1 type sets and builds, and honestly the sets are pretty cool/cute and have really unique sets and introduce new molds (such as the puffy vest piece) and pieces in different colors which is great for customization for minifigs and other builds

I’m an AFOL & love Dreamzzz, and my son loves playing with my sets (he’s mostly a Minecraft/Ninjago/Jurassic Park fan). I think it’s a really great but unfocused theme which feels like it has struggled to find its audience - it’s constantly deep discounted. Strongly suspect it’ll wind down in 2025.

    I quite like the theme.
The first wave of sets was great (there are only 2 or so sets that I didn't like and got only for completion). The second smaller wave was mostly finishing up the season 1 builds.
The 3rd wave was the best part of the Season 2, and those are all great sets. My favorite set here is Castle nocturnia. The big Zblob mech is a bit too big to be honest - could have been slightly smaller.
I hope this theme runs at least 3 years and gets something fancy.

If they had some cheaper villain sets, I'd definitely try and get them. As it is, the location builds are definitely going to become the basis for mocs
If it does fail, I hope it doesn't take another good colour with it like Nexo Knights and Hidden Side before it.
Most places are selling the nightmare creatures set for less so I may well buy it.

I gotta say, I really hope not. I only learned about Dreamzzz a few months ago. And I gotta say, when I started seeing sets on the shelves, I was _very impressed._ The creativity that goes into the builds really is something to be admired. It's like when we were kids and we would mix all our sets together to make something unique and creative; except in this case, the bricks are all color-themed and uniform.
To me, Dreamzzz lives up to the name in that, the theme is based on Dreams - and in Dreams anything can happen; so as long as the sets keep being creative, they can pretty much do anything.

  • @gasonfeist7238

Unfortunately, it is too expensive. What made Ninjago thrive were its lower prices compared to other products. (At least a few years ago.)
Additionally, it's missing more sets that are less theme specific and could blend in with other playtables/displays.

I was a big Lego Chima fan and got a bunch of the ancient beasts sets from Chima's second wave. But I've seen this before. I haven't gotten any new sets in a while, nor do I plan to get anymore, except Bionicle type sets from 10 years ago. I'm especially planning to get those Lego Chima ultrabuilds alsi from about 10 years ago. But I know when a set is awesome, unique, and absolutely fun to build. But Lego Dreamzzz's nightmare boat, turtle van, spacebus, cool race cars, robo knight, and cat motorcycle sets are really temping, not gonna lie. But I saw this happen to Lego Chima. I thought they had a fantastic thing going for them but they still had a relatively short life span. I'm giving Lego Dreamzzz 1 in a half, to 2 more years. But their sets are without a doubt going to stay as huge standouts among modern Lego sets.

I really like this theme it’s much better then nexo knights or china or monkie kid and especially hidden side which I think was the worst theme . Some of the sets are really cool like the big crow from season 2. I watched both seasons and in my opinion the episodes didn’t feel as much repetitive as the nexo knights episodes and I also prefer season 2 especially for the evil version of Mateo , Logan etc. and the sets in my country are still not sold out even tho most are retiring this year 4-5 if them are 40% off

They drop them too quickly. That said, I can understand the trepidation. I still love the original storytelling, but I'll be darned if I can afford or even desire to purchase a ton of LEGO anymore. If there was a way for them to not focus on sets, it might help but then again it wouldn't be LEGO anymore.

I like the sets and the show is OK, but Im affraid that we won´t get past 2025. Hopefuly we get atleast one more wave after the January 2025 one. As for how they sell - Depends. Last Christmas a few of the sets were sold out, but other than that throughout the year they seem to be always in stock.
I think the inflated prices are a definitely a problem. Z-Blob and Bunchu are $15 sets, not $20. That car that got leaked for next year is a $25-30 set, not $50. Or why is the Cage monster, which is barely bigger than $20 Bunchu being sold for almost 2x the price?
Or the fact that the Dreamzzz subreddit is pretty much dead even though the theme still runs also doesn´t inspire confidence.

so i love the figures and the new sword piece but imo the sets are kinda meh exept for the shark ship and the castle. Where i am in france, the sets are doing horribly, so horribly that a few stores took the sets of the shelves to replace with ninjago, and if you want a dreamzzz set, an employee has to go in the back to get it.

As for the show, tho the fist season was nice the second one is way better animation wise and story wise so that explain why the score is higher

I think they did an okay job, although Matteo and the others got overshadowed by Zoey’s backstory (no hate to it, to me I thought it was the best one. It was relatable.)
We got parts of Cooper and his stressful life.
Logan changes into a better person, with two moms. And his middle name is Nico.
    Izzy’s a younger sister.
Astrid is like a German version of Cooper, only a little different.
    Night hunter is good.
And Matteo, I still think his mom is Lunia and he still needs to do more to reach his full potential. But he’s nice.
