  • A song for my Amma, and for all Ammas.
Some time ago I heard a very soulful rendition of Raghupathi Raaghaava Rajaram (a popular religious song ) by Shankar Mahadevan and it inspired me to create a song similar to that rendition.
I tried to write the lyrics myself but there was line that my mom didn’t quite like :)
It initially had Vinnum Neeye,Mannum neeye…. She said she didn’t think that the ‘mannum’ sounded proper.
I then got my friend Suresh aka Trace to rewrite the lyrics to make sure it sounded the best.
It enjoyed good airplay on the radio and it is still being played on Mothers Day specials.
I like my music to have live instruments as it adds ‘Jeevan’ to the song.
Although it may sound like a simple arrangement, there were a lot instruments used in this track.
    We had :
    Murali on Tablas
    Saran Narayanan on acoustic guitar
    Elvira Arul doing the chorus
    Live Bass by Ganesh Rajah
Flute by the late JB Manimaran, a dear friend
    Veenai by
    Moorsing by King Cobra
I hope you will like it and its available on Spotify and iTunes as well.
