I just wanted to give you an update because my X1 arrived a few weeks ago and I've really REALLY put it through its paces!
I can honestly say it really really is the best 3d printer on the market today and makes my Mega 8k Jupiter obsolete it's so fast there is no point in running multiple printers.
I don't use the auto fill and pump because the vat holds about 4L of resin and the recall is very slow so I find it faster to just empty the vat the conventional way. This is definitely the most beginner friendly large format printers and out of 20+ full build plates I zero failures and I didn't bother running any calibration I just started printing and made adjustments on the fly and I was trying different resins on every run!
The UV matrix is 2x more powerful than any other available so fast resin has a normal exposure time of just 0.5s and normal abs resin is 1 to 1.2s, that's with the UV power at 80%..
Ho I also found the pump cap also fits Siraya Tech 2L bottle, it takes a little effort to screw it tight but it fits and to get the WiFi to work you need a certain type of brand of dongle as most are not compatible but it does work and works well once setup..
I'd definitely recommend this printer BUT please please be aware there is almost zero customer support, just check out the Facebook group some people have been begging for help for months with most emails going unanswered.
Obviously anyone buying one from a 3rd party or with a credit card will have some backup as you can get help from your bank but for all us Kickstarter backers we don't have that so if they don't respond to you're on your own and that's hurt their reputation!
On the plus side you can already buy replacement vats, build plates, ACFs and screens from AliExpress and a replacement screen is only $300 and that's cheap for a 16" screen..
I'm backing it on Kickstarter, I was going to cancel because of all the problems like them changing the FAQ halfway through the Kickstarter and the bonkers shipping fees..
They have said they will now honour the original FAQ and the new shipping fees have been almost halved and include taxes and duties!!! It's a shame they didn't do this 2 weeks ago because they would not have lost over 500 backers but hayho on the bright side it means I get my printer sooner!! 🥳
I agree on the running costs with printers this size it takes about 1.5L of resin just to cover the vat realistically 2L to print anything of any scale..
The fast resin costs about £40 per 1000ml or £65 for 2000ml so it can definitely get real expensive real fast, not to mention the ACF sheets for printers this big cost between £100 and £150 for a pack of 3!!!!
I print and paint models for commissions my printers tend to pay for themselves, I know that's not for everyone but it definitely helps with the running costs!! Well it does until you have a print fail and £65 worth of resin gets wiped out overnight, that really hurts your wallet and ya soul... 😆🤑
If you print and paint then this will definitely be a great product. It will certainly pay for itself!
i would definately cancel. The machine i was sent is a piece of crap, it doesnt have wi-fi, I have already burnt out 2 resin pumps, the ui interface is terrrible (when you can get it to respond), the bed heater fluctuates up to 10 degrees celcius from what you set it at ......and the list goes on. To top it all off the company is an absolute pain to deal with. Dont even think about using this printer to print minatures or any fine detail models because it simply is not capable of doing it.

I know the company hasn't done a great job of communicating with people and a few others have said they are EXTREMELY slow to reply to emails, I was hoping it was just because they have a lot going on but it doesn't look good.. I have not heard anyone say anything bad about the printer itself until now, might have to go for the Mega 8k S then or the Starfield but the starfield is slow as hell at only 50mm an hour!! 😔
Thanks for the review. I'm new to 3d resin printing but currently looking at the GKtwo and now this is a consideration. I figure go big or go home, buy once, cry once. The print quality looks really good and the speed is impressive. Thanks again.
I actually have a GKTwo video coming out soon. I will say that the resolution is the same and has a smaller screen, so the detail on the GKTwo is much better, but the detail on the X1 is honestly amazing anyway. Both printers serve different purposes, so I dont think they should be compared. You need to look at what you plan to do with the machine. Do you plan to make large objects or do you plan to make objects with incredible micro precision. I honestly think both printers compliment each other VERY well
I have been running into some issues, Wifi doesn't work and the power supply was set to Europe easy fix however the bolts were shaved even though it was packed nicely. I don't know how to get the wifi to work even with a usb wifi device. I will continue to ask and see what I can get from the company as a support. good video overall!
I think the wifi is not yet enabled, at least it wasnt for my unit. I am surprised they still have yet to enable it in the firmware.

Not sure if you've tested them, but how do you think it compares to the Athena and Uniformation GKTwo?
I havnt tested either, but I will get the GKTwo in the mail in only 1 or 2 days and I can share my results on the discord (link in description)
The refill system only working with their bottles is a pretty big negative, though I suppose you could just refill the bottles with other brands of resins?
That was my initial thought, but then I began to think that it isn't terrible because other companies use the same bottle style, and worst comes to worst, you can buy a few bottles of apex maker resin and just pour your other branded resin into those when they're empty
Just print out a compatible cap for other bottles. :)
Does it have automatic bed leveling?
This does not. Not many sla printers have that right now.
Hi, I just got my X1 off the Kickstarter and there are no settings for Chitubox. Could you share your settings?
Have you checked your USB drive?
@@ThePrintHouse I am really trying very had not give a sarcastic answer to that question. I, and several other people I have spoken with on the facebook group received data sticks that simply did not include the setting files. Someone shared them with us and I now have them. I asked a bunch of people, including every youtube reviewer who posted a video, and emailed Apex-Maker themselves (who really need to get their act together) and got nothing. I got a data stick with Chitubox installation files, but not the settings files.
@@dougwhiddon8227actually sorry I didn't realize what video this was posted on. I thought this was a different one. Hmmm interesting. I wonder why it was not included. It was included for me. Maybe I emailed them, I don't remember 😭
@@ThePrintHouse My understanding is that Chitubox provided the data sticks and Apex-maker added the setting files, and simply did not include them on some of the drives. I am not the only person this happened to.

I think it has the ability to USE wifi. It doesnt have wifi built in
