Recent Adidas Swim-signee, Michael Andrew, was not at the L.A. Invite nor at Athens Sectionals this past weekend, but he did make his own waves at two other events, swimming at both the Colorado Zone 5 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and “Wave the Wheat Invitational” in his native Lawrence, Kansas.
In Colorado Springs, Andrew raced his way to four first-place finishes over the course of the meet, starting off with a time of 23.20 in the 50m freestyle. Andrew added his second and third individual meet wins in the 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly races, registering times of 1:03.48 and 56.06, respectively. The 16-year old wrapped up the zone meet with his 4th-fastest 50m backstroke performance of 2015 so far, a time of 26.17 to secure the event victory.
Back in Lawrence, Kansas on Sunday, Andrew took on the men’s 100m freestyle event at the Wave the Wheat Invitational where he managed to blow away his own personal best in the event. Coming into the meet, Andrew's fastest outing was the 51.24 he registered at 2014 Summer Nationals. But, the young talent cranked out a speedy 50.67 in his hometown yesterday to knock over a half a second from that earlier mark, dipping him beneath the 51-second threshold for the first time in his career.
The 15-16 National Age Group Record in the 100m freestyle event still stands at 49.28 held by now-University of Florida Gator, Caeleb Dressel. However, with Michael Andrew having just turned 16 in April and now positioned at the upper end of the age bracket, the NAG record in this race, as well as many others, know their spot on the record books is on borrowed time. - Спорт
Maaajor crossover and floated into the finish.
Oh my god he added like a second on the finish alone lol
Adam Rodriguez p
As he continually tweaks his technique and training he is going to become a monster. This guy just oozes talent. Going to be fun watching him develop.

What a talent wasted.....didn't even make world championships.
What was that finish??
Technique not bad, finish to the wall made me cringe tho
Yeah his technique was pretty bad but still he can swim faster than everyone watching this video
And two years later..... 51.03
blazing times across all strokes. crazy
Oh my God he literally wasted a full half a second on the finish itself, could have maybe even broken 50, but nonetheless, Andrew was fast as ever
And his second 50 was exactly 27 seconds (could have been 26 without that finish, well he was fatigued but swam a cracking race he's super pro)
He has many bad technique and it will brake. His hands were folded in half ( do not use full length of the stroke ) and consequently his position and bad . When it corrected swim a minimum of 49 maybe 48, and congratulations on the result because it is top-notch.
What if i improves the technique?
he doesn't reach at all
his posture is great which effects a lot though. not many swimmers focus on that
As always, very fast but in desperate need of some technique work #thecrossoverisreal #thatfinishthough
Drumwannabe17+ Yeah, like, he needs to have a higher elbow pitch underwater for the pull and extend all the way back for the stroke finish and also needs to get better distance off the blocks and a quicker reaction time and NEEDS to improve his streamline badly!
Nvm on the streamline but his dolfin kick needs improvement
So starts at exactly 0:21 and turns at half a second after 0:44 making his first 50 metres 23.50 seconds and he touches the finishing wall at half a second after 1:11 which is 71 seconds making his second 50 exactly 27 seconds so 23.50 plus 27 flat is about a mid 50 and remember I'm calculating just from this video's seconds
Raw power
Why his head outnof the water turned to thr left before he even touch the wall😂
that finsh tho
Andrew turns at the first 50m half a second after 0:44 seconds, so his first 50 metres is 23.50 seconds approximately remember I'm timing from the video seconds
Race starts at 0:21 exact
For such a hyped swimmer I"m surprised at his technique. He's not loping like Phelps and other top american swimmers are. It's just strange.
He's definitely loping
It's a sprint event. His technique are completely designed for sprinting only. Michael Phelps' loping style is more of middle distance to long distance.
Jesus Christ is lord of all! God bless
superior cardio, poor technique
Hahahahhaa cardio. He does USRPT.
All of the comments on his technique are annoying to me. When you guys hold over 70 NAG records and can go 50 seconds in the 100 freestyle then maybe correct his form.
100% !
Rubberfist coaches are qualified to correct. Are you a coach?
Don't critique his technique until you go 50. loll
you're an idiot
