Really great to see people keeping these beasts alive. I ran one of these doing admin for a small university department (3 terminals+console) for several years. The secretaries jokingly called the BugHlt crashes "Bug Light" stops.
Thanks for watching! “Bug Light” stops. Love it! These machines are fascinating, and it’s so much fun to be a part of the movement to keep the alive. I wish I’d been able to see these machines doing their thing back in the day, but sadly by the time I was old enough to appreciate them, they were long out of daily service.
@@TJBChris It was a pretty solid box. Eventually we had a serial line across the street to a VAX11-780 running some early BSD and got email, but by that time age and the sea coast environment (stones' throw from the water) were taking its toll and corrosion was setting in. I believe it was replaced by a bunch of networked macs, which were roundly criticized for sluggishness and (at the time) fuzzy color displays compared to the crisp monochrome terminals (televideo 925s I think) they were using. Those were the days.
Nicely done on your upgrade board build. I really do think you need to fix the voltage regulator. We can't have that not being aligned correctly. OCD in full effect here 🙂You should also pick up a Weller benchtop smoke absorber. The one I use is model WSA350. So great to not be smelling all the solder smoke, plus no more alarms going off LOL. I'm excited to see part II.
Thanks! I’m slowly upgrading my workstation as I go, so I might have to add the absorber. Appreciate the recommendation. I also can’t wait to do part II. 😁

The color temp in that scene was perfect. What are you talking about? The lighting in that scene was great.
Hah! The work light was a tad frigid for me...but I guess it feels good to be frigid sometimes!
okay i need to Dig 16b out. Connect it to my Nabu :)
I like it! NABU would be a great terminal for a 16B.
