  • Cordyceps is a remarkable fungus that has long been coveted for its amazing ability to enhance both physical and mental well-being.
    Used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 300 years, cordyceps sinensis was the first species of cordyceps humans found to have beneficial properties, but this variety only grows out of insects and is very difficult to cultivate. Fortunately, cordyceps militaris boasts similar medicinal properties and can be made to thrive using at home cultivation techniques!
    Cordycepin is probably the most noteworthy compound found within cordyceps militaris, known for its potential to boost energy and stamina, support respiratory health, strengthen the immune system, and enhance cognitive function.
    In this video, I’ll show you the easiest way to grow cordyceps militaris at home with NO FLOW HOOD REQUIRED! While I recommend using a still air box for this method, the self healing injection ports mean that it’s even possible to get by doing your sterile work in a clean room with minimal air movement.
    Whether you're an experienced mushroom cultivator or a curious newcomer, this method will allow you to enjoy a successful harvest with as little gear as possible, so you can start harnessing the incredible benefits of cordyceps!

    Hidden harvest mushrooms farm has the best cordyceps militaris liquid culture I ever bought. Colonized my agar in 2 days and colonized my brown rice cakes in 4 days most aggressive I've ever seen.

      I got my syringes from Spore N Sprout. They colonized my jars in just 2 days! A nice fine white layer on the brown rice substrate. Oddly enough the Spelt grain jars took a full day longer.

    Thanks for ur video I’ve been trying to grow militaris but failing 1 didn’t have lme or nutritional yeast for the broth didn’t use enough lc and tried to do a tub with no laminar flow or insta pot this time I tried uncle Ben’s to a tub n still lookin like it’s going to fail was going to try hard next thx again imma like n follow good luck

      Thanks for watching! I've also tried tubs without a flow hood with little success, this jar method seems to be the easiest without one. That said, I have had great success doing Uncle Ben's to grow bags, I might make a video on it but pretty much I just let the Uncle Ben's bag colonize for 2 weeks then cut it open and put it in a grow bag, no need for a tub! I managed to do it in a still air box with no contamination.

    Excelente !! Muchas gracias !! Pregunto : se pueden multiplicar en su madurez ? O hay que seguir comprando el micelio ? Gracias !!

    • @camsurbanfarm
      @camsurbanfarm  8 місяців тому +2

      ¡Gracias por ver! Es posible germinar las esporas de Cordyceps maduro, pero puede resultar difícil crear cepas capaces de fructificar. Sin embargo, puedes expandir el micelio líquido antes de inocular, lo que te permitirá crecer mucho más. Sin embargo, el micelio líquido de Cordyceps tiende a envejecer rápidamente, por lo que es mejor usar esporas para crear una nueva cepa o comprar una cada pocos meses.

    • @camsurbanfarm
      @camsurbanfarm  8 місяців тому +1

      If you mean to make extracts then yes absolutely! Cordyceps mycelium contains tons of beneficial compounds, and adding them to your extracts along with the fruiting bodies can give you a great, well rounded product.

    Is the still air box really effective and reliable? I'm afraid the contamination rate is high, isn't it? 🤔

    • @camsurbanfarm
      @camsurbanfarm  Місяць тому

      It works well when using jars, always going to be less reliable than a flow hood but you can definitely get your success rate well above 90% with proper technique. If you're worried about / getting contamination you could use injection ports on the rice jars as well to avoid taking off the lids.

    How long is Cordyceps LC good for if kept in the refrigerator? Great video!❤

    • @camsurbanfarm
      @camsurbanfarm  7 місяців тому +1

      The master syringe (LC used to inoculate the larger LC jar) can last up to 12 months in some cases, but it's a safer bet to use it within 3 months. The expanded jar of LC should be used as quickly as possible, ideally within a week. I've never tried storing expanded LC in the fridge so I can't speak definitively to that, but I'd imagine it could last a few months that way. It might just slow down the growth of the cordyceps or diminish fruiting ability over time. Best to only expand the amount you need and use it ASAP :)

    Is 20 cc of liquid culture really Necessary for ONE jar? 😂 I mean I get away with just one cc but cordyceps maybe need more ey? 👀😁

    • @camsurbanfarm
      @camsurbanfarm  7 місяців тому +2

      Glad you brought this up, the reason we need to use so much more for cordyceps is because we want the substrate to colonize as quickly as possible (within 3-4 days) in order to preserve fruiting ability. If you used just 1 cc, the substrate would still eventually colonize but likely wouldn't ever fruit.

      @camsurbanfarm  7 місяців тому +2

      Yes, cordyceps is one of the more labor intensive mushrooms to grow. I'll be posting a video in the coming weeks about a different technique that's much easier for beginners and those with limited equipment, stay tuned for that!
