I'm a parametric design architect. FINALLY someone that truly is worthy got what he deserves. This man works for all of us. He designs with almost ZERO budget. He designs for the poor and for those who can't pay for our services. This is an architect. I fully agree with this Pritzker. WELL DESERVED, pound by pound.
As an architecture student in Africa, Fancis Kere is an exemplar of what is possible when we are genuine about creating architecture that serves people. Well deserved win for Kere.
fyi please look into fractal geometry. That is the basis of african architecture. spread the news. This is our design language that is unique to africans
@@timojo-ibukun5264 welcome. This is the kind of things that win awards and change a continent. We need to promote our own design anesthetics. Lest we forget. Even Gucci design came from west Africa but they think it's his not ours. We made patterns before patterns, we built buildings before architecture. We built triangles in the sand before Pythagoras
Diebedo Francis Kere is the perfect example where people growing globally and doing best work globally by inculcating their root design techniques from their home ground. RESPECT🙏🏻 for Diebedo Francis Kere.
They took him to teach him to become a carpenter but he ends up winning the most coveted prize in Architecture.... what a story.... well done Ato Diebedo Kere.
I am actually glad where world is moving, although not visible at a global scale right now. There are concerned people abt the community, people, eco system and Kere is one of the finest examples. But what interests me is such gems are getting recognized at Global scale through awards like Pritzker, it shows even the jury and people like us are craving for change. World needs balance, and things are happening slowly but surely :)
I first became aware of his work when he designed the roof at the Serpentine. Since I have been immersed in his work and love his philosophical perspective of perpetuating Africa's unique culture in the context of architecture. Also, the fact that he does not wait for the Big grant but works with what he has shows him to be a man of integrity, dignity and grounded in community.
I would describe this amazing man's architecture as "The Architecture of humanity, it's culture, history, community built within nature both for the inhabitants and for the environment."
Our mission as architects is precisely to deeply help the society we are supposed to help. Think what Louis Kahn meant to the clients he served. Sometimes society forgets and many architects forget what we are supposed to be doing. Congrats to the 2022 Pritzker Prize winner...excellent work !
Kere is a perfect example of the fact that to be a successful architect, you can't just love making buildings; you have to love the people and places you're making buildings for, too.
diebedo francis kere inspires me in an aspect tht how one should be attached to his soil to his community to his people and inspire them for quality education of life😊
Absolutely Amazing a new bucket list wish to gather when the time is right.....Meeting DIEDEDO FRANCIS KERE

Fancis Kéré you are a great soul, never forgot your roots, try to improve better lives for Burkina Faso youth. You are a gifted person. Keep on your good work!
Such inspiring projects! inspiring story! Architect KERE brings down to scale the lofty goals of every budding architect from ‘more is better ‘ to ‘less is better’ in the dimension of materiality. In an age where everybody with a computer and a three months training in 3-D believes they can be an architect this PROFESSIONAL is bringing Back the real purpose of architecture - to bring light in human life, to sustain life and to change lives. in an age of excess in the west this is a much desired approach to architecture… Bravo!
The most earnest of my wishes is for more such souls to continue your legacy. A prime example of uniting the folks and ones efforts by sparing to others the fruits of ones gift. You are to be admired, and deservedly so. Thank you for your change. For your change made progress for your folk.
This was really nice. I like his designs, the buildings look futuristic in a way. I also like the way he builds with the culture like using the trees and how they gather beneath them to talk etc. I appreciated the way the designs suited the climate like choosing to have special roof designs for breeze, handling the heat by other methods other than AC.
Hi. Mr. Kere. God blesses desires of our heart, I mean God our designer and maker. You just doing the word, where there's Wil there's a way. You are a blessing and we appreciate your good and hard work.
ive been following francis kere since about 5 years ago when I saw his work on Dezeen. He is one of those architects you know is different - he thinks differently, and thats what architecture needs. Im not going to lie, when I heard he won I was emotional. the prize couldnt go to a more humble and deserving person.
Putting modern techniques in service of traditional, local knowledge and community; this is the end architecture, science and all modern knowledge should be striving for. Kere has certainly shown the path forward.
Merci grand frère, merci et mes félicitations pour cette belle contribution à l'histoire de l'architecture africaine. Ne te contente pas de ce prix, travailles encore dur, quelque chose de merveilleuse va sortir encore de toi. Merci et merci, courage, courage.
