As a safety precaution for shining shoe's in public. What do you recommend using to disinfect shoe's before saddle soaping them. Besides using gloves. Would alcohol diluted with water harm shoe's? I read that vinegar can kill some bacteria. I'm just looking for better alternatives.

Hi! Greets from PL! Love watching you at your work. Just curious about one thing - I've noticed that Japanese guys often clean/wipe the inside of the shoes with a cloth (probably dampened with some cleaner/alcohol), you don't pay attention to it... Also, you often hold the shoe (at the start) by the sole of the shoe - do you ever clean them (soles) before taking care of the upper part? I do wash the soles with some warm water, before cleaning them, especially if I'm about to put them away in a box.
