    It kinda reminded me of porridge when you were mashing it 8) new years soon here in new zealand so happy new years guys when its your turn. (ps.we are going to drink and enjoy new years with friends)

    I've never seen green rice like this. The mochi itself seems to taste different from what we experienced before.
    Ordinary mochi looks as white as Shizuka's sweater and as smooth as her cheeks.
    I felt like being purified just before New Year's Day.
    But in fact the Japanese custom "hatsumode" is said to have started when the first railway of Japan opened from Shinbashi to Yokohama in 1972. Until then people walk to shrines and temples all year around, but the railway company started a campaign to promote use of railway and made people willing to go to shrines and temples early in January. The first destination is said to have been Kawasaki-Daishi, halfway between Shinbashi and Yokohama.

    excelent video. Very curious process of making mochi. Never had it,rare in Brazil. Here we celebrante with parties and celebrations. Lots of fireworks.

      Celebrations are very different here in Japan. Very peaceful and calm. Make sure to try mochi when you get a chance, it is delicious!
