I’m loving the consistency in uploads from you. Just please don’t overexert yourself, you’re one of the better elder scrolls uploaders on UA-cam and we’d like to have you around for a while
I really appreciate the support and the concern my friend! :) I’m here to stay! I hope I never burnout either! I don’t think I will but you never now! But nevertheless it’s appreciated! :)
After all those years, I still remember that on the XBox 360, not handing in the Umbra sword to the Daedric shrine let to the console freezing. During my pipsquek days, I wasn't sure if this was the intented 'punishment' for disobedience. Nostalgia (for simpler times).
One of the cool things about this sword is if you go to the ru8ns at the beginning of your play through, you can kill umbra and take the sword. A powerful tool at the beginning of the game.
Todd voiced Clavicus Vile in Redguard too. This makes me laugh anytime some one calls Todd Howard a liar, or says they don't trust him. It just feels very funny to me that the guy who voiced Clavicus Vile multiple times (and at least one time, people thought it was too fitting to replace) is being touted as untrustworthy now. Like, maybe we were warned, and maybe these same people angry about things now would have made a terrible deal if they were wandering around Tamriel. Maybe we should have thought about this slightly, but alas...
I paused the quest and returned when it was broken and useless the weight stayed at zero. It works really good with Azura's star. I sold the mask thinking it would just piss him off more on purpose.
Love your channel Bard! If I recall correctly Umbra plays an important role in the books "The Infernal City" and "Lord of Souls". Might be worth a read. Definitely would fit your other channel as a bed time story.
There is actually a little conspiracy theory about Clavicus Vile that I quite like. In how the tale about the origins of the Umbra sword, being a lie. And that the truth is far, far darker. The theory goes that the witch that created Umbra, never actually existed, but that it was Clavicus Vile instead. Clavicus vile then approached an invididual named Umbra, who was a victim of a cruel lord murdering his or her parents. Clavicus offered Umbra the choice for revenge, at the cost of their soul. Umbra accepted, and then got transformed into the sword we know now. There it was picked up by Lenwin, whose personality slowly got corrupted and partially consumed by the blade in order to take her as a host for the new personality that is "Umbra". The reason why this theory exists is because it makes Clavicus Vile be the equivalent of Mephistopheles from Faust, where it offers faust a bargain; to receive their dreams come true, at the cost of their soul. Something very in line with the Daedric Prince of deals, Clavicus Vile.
The umbra quests are always great. The sword just screams bad idea but always has such tempting stats, I get why Vile wants it lol. It's a shame the expanded lore doesn't show up in the games, a floating city would be a cool ass dungeon. Are you planning to do the Mehrunes Razor quest soon? It's one of my favorite mini dlcs, all sorts of fun little details
The Umbra in Skyrim is from creation Club. I dont consider that canon. The Mod by RonnieMagnum is better in that you get a 1 handed and 2 handed version and the owner of the blade made a journal to try to keep his mind. There's callbacks in it to Morrowind and Oblivion where his dreams after picking up Umbra gave him the determination to set out to Skyrim. And the final entry is him remembering his name and stating that Your character is now Umbra.
Great video but I will say you shouldn't take Skyrims CC content too literally, it claims to be "lore friendly" which is hotly debated but nowhere is it stated any of it is canon at all

I had the same thing happen to me. My console froze whenever I tried to fast travel away or walk away
YES I love when Umbriel from the Infernal City + Lord of Souls books are mentioned! Very under appreciated books. I own both :)
Cheers! :) I thought it was a really fascinating point to touch up on!
Ah, Umbra. My favorite weapon in the game! I never turn it in. Once I pick it up, it stays with me indefinitely
Yeah I think that’s the best way to go about this quest honestly lol
[ Trade offer ]
I receive: arguably the best sword in the game
You receive: a cool looking mask lmao
😂 better yet, I choose to go to the dungeon and walk away from a fight for nothing in return 👀😂

Also, (saying this before watching) Todd Howard voiced Clavicus btw apparently he was supposed to be a place holder and they kept him in 😂
I was pretty sure that was Todd Howard! I believe it was also him as Sanguine! Sounded familiar!

Bethesda truly value lore accuracy@@YourWaywardDestiny
"It is a 50 pound sword..." Meanwhile Goldbrand in your inventory with 52 pounds: "Am I a joke to you?"
My fav quest in Oblivion. I love the look of the Armor and I enjoyed roleplaying as the new avatar of Umbra.
I paused the quest and returned when it was broken and useless the weight stayed at zero. It works really good with Azura's star. I sold the mask thinking it would just piss him off more on purpose.
😂 I like it!
Amazing consistency and high quality vids
I appreciate it my friend! I hope you enjoyed this one!

I’ve been binging your videos, I’m running out!

The idea of Umbra is really fascinating! And I would definitely like to sooner than later!!
NEVER STOP POSTING
I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! :)
I love your channel, my new favorite Elder Scrolls channel. Maybe in the future you could do Morrowind lore vids

Hope Umbra returns in ES6
Me too!
I just hope es6 is good
I never really did this quest as I always kill her as soon as I start the game to get her sword and armour…
"Shadowmere is unconscious" 😂
Fun fact, I haven’t seen shadowmere since lol
@ABardsBallad he was taken as part of the deal with Clavicus 😮
21:41 "Um...can I help you?"
Todd Howard making you an offer you can't refuse(but it isn't another re-release of Skyrim)
Great video but I will say you shouldn't take Skyrims CC content too literally, it claims to be "lore friendly" which is hotly debated but nowhere is it stated any of it is canon at all
Cheers! :) I hear you, it can be controversial stuff, I like reading about it but maybe next time I’ll add a disclaimer!
YAY
First!
Cheers! :)
This is just a jojo reference
I love this channel ❤
I’m really glad to hear it! :)
