    Thanks for the great info! I have had my sewing business for a couple of years now. I have done 3 T-shirt quilts. I like the per block price idea!
    And you are correct - do not short yourself on your labor. I charge $20/hr for sewing - 1 hr minimum. People will pay if they really want it done. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

      You are so welcome. And yes, people will pay if they want it. I have spent alot of time trying to "sell" people on my service. Not anymore.

    My Joanne Fabrics sells 108” wide in solid colors at $9.99 a yard. I buy with coupons of 50% off at $5 a yard. I stock up on colors most used (gray, cream, black,red and navy). I use scraps from backing to bind.

    fantastic video!! SOOOO much information. I love your passion.. it comes through with every word. I wish I were a little younger because I would have jumped in with both feet. There is NO ONR in my area that offers these services. I have been offered "jobs" and as soon as I mention Price,, they aren't so interested. I won't do it for free, WAY too much time and money invested
    . I may have to look into all of this anyway. You have inspired me for sure. I could start small.. small quilts and small projects to just test the waters.... Thank you for sharing all that you have. You could do seminars and make money with all that you have shared. Thank you... for just being you!

      Thank you so much for the kind words. I learned the hard way to price for my skills and their are people that will pay for them.

    It's $125 for an all day class and $20 an hour to use it for quilting. About $120 for one long armer to do it for me or $99.00 for someone from the guild. The guild price was for a t-shirt quilt, 52 x 68. This is in Arizona. I'm making one for my grandson but I kind of froze because I'm afraid of making a mistake. The shirts can't be replaced. I could have used this info 20 years ago. Don't have the energy now. I'll just sew for family. It's incredibly kind of you to put this out there to help people.

      Every area is so different in pricing. All of that needs to be taken into account. Thank you for that information. Just jump in on the quilt. You won't make a mistake. And these quilts are easy to cover up mistakes and imperfections. And it will mean the world to your grandson.

    A quick question about ordering from Checkers. Do you have to pay shipping and how much does shipping cost to order a bolt?

    • @thevintagestitcher2022
      @thevintagestitcher2022  3 роки тому

      Yes. There is shipping charges. You will want to factor that into the cost of yardage. It goes by weight. So cost varies
