      @@Jeff4559 You need venturi effect, with that stepped angle you make the carb less efficient at making the right mix across a higher band of rpm, it's actually important to keep your piston temps in range. shouldn't make a big difference unless he's going all out full throttle.

    You realize that that's not how a carb works. Just increasing the size of the diameter doesn't mean that the carbs going to spray more fuel. It's a ratio between the different id's of the carb. You have to get the air to go faster through the middle bit so that way you can create a vacuum to suck the fuel in.

    Opening the venturi and not the throttle bore reduces the velocity in the venturi where the main jet is, increasing the pressure in the venturi. This reduces the amount of fuel the carb introduces into the airstream, creating a lean condition. Lean in a two stroke means hotter and less power. Ultimately, a two stroke can only take in the volume of air equal to the volume of the crankcase, the carb is only to meter the air fuel mixture.

  • @SWMissouriOutdoors
    @SWMissouriOutdoors Рік тому +3

    I like where you are going but really curiosity as other have asked, without enlarging the venturi and throttle blade area is it even letting more air in? Maybe a small increase, like putting a larger air filter on a V8 or something but using the same carb. CFM of carburetors is measured as flow through the venturi which you have not opened at all. Still awesome to experiment and try new things. 👏

    • @7.3bronco
      @7.3bronco Рік тому +2

      The venturi is the throat he opened up. Small engine carbs have large throttle plates and small throat to regulate air flow (venturi). This isn't like replacing an air filter. It's like replacing the 600 cfm to 700cfm. Not having a smooth transition is where he screwed up. That step is slowing air down.

  • @josephcowen9771
    @josephcowen9771 Рік тому +2

    You just made it run far far worse ! You destroyed the Venturi that is very carefully designed and machined , what are you thinking ! The ratio between Venturi and carby bore is measured in thousands of an inch to each other ! It's not just how much air it can get through, I had a 403 Oldsmobile v8 small block I put a Offenhauser Duel Quad intake manifold on , everyone said oh put two 750 CFM Holley's on it ! But I knew better I tryed it with two other 750s and it went sort of ok. Then I changed to Two 390 CFM Holley four barrel carbys, wow better response , better on off throttle , better all round and MORE power , bigger is not better. You want as higher flow of air over the Venturi as possible , and if you put a bit carby on flow of air goes down over Venturi putting the 390s on increased air speed and turbulence is hay aids fuel atomization and fuel burn,
